His recovery wasn't easy, but it led him to reunite with the only man he'd ever truly loved. Now, he's moving forward with his life, but the universe has yet another curveball to throw him.

This series picks up right at the end of "Acceptance," the final story in the "Changed" series.

    Summary

This series is essentially an exercise where I’ll try to write about what happened after the show’s finale while remaining as true to the televised story and characters as possible. To be one hundred percent honest, I’m mostly writing this for me - the idea got stuck in my head and wouldn’t leave, so I’m hoping that if I create this space to write it down I can make room in my short-term memory for important things like my grocery list and what the war of 1812 was about. I’m posting it here for two reasons: 1) what the hell, and 2) like all creative types, I have an approval-shaped void in my soul that will never be filled.

This is the first in a trilogy of novellas. It is followed by Straight to Number One and Let's Hear It for the Boy.

    Summary

But instead of driving over to his parents’ house to tell them he’d called off the engagement and staying there for a while to figure out his next steps, he got on the Trans-Canada Highway … How could he be so reckless? What was he thinking? No, he knows exactly what he was thinking, what he’s still thinking. The truth had slammed into him on Friday morning in the elevator on the way up to his office: I’m not happy.

Five liminal spaces for Patrick Brewer that represent significant transitional moments where change is inevitable and transformation can happen.

    Summary

The shoulder massages start as a silly little joke, a way for ten-year-old Patrick to try and weasel out of drying the dishes like he’s supposed to. He settles in behind him mom, says something like you look stressed, let me help and will rub away the tension while his dad rolls his eyes in the kitchen with a knowing smile. But he gets good at them, genuinely good, his thumbs learning how to chase down knots and ease them out with the sort of precise, determined gentleness he will later use on his guitar strings. You have healing hands, honey, his mom tells him more than once, and Patrick takes the praise to heart.

    Summary

His anxiety spikes when he walks through the door to find Patrick and Stevie leaning over the counter at the store. His defenses prickle and only heighten when they start arguing about lip balm and compromise. Maybe arguing is a strong word, but he can’t help but feel attacked once they gang up on him; it’s overwhelming when his attention is relentlessly being pulled toward the lip balm and mints and how incorrect they are. Still, his pride and his fear win out as he pushes himself out the door, declaring that he can compromise. He doesn’t stop thinking about the lip balm all day.

formerly titled "signing up" but now everything is named after noah reid lyrics for the obvious reason of them being impeccable
