I wanted to write a story where normal Kara fights Red Kryptonite Kara. I held it in for too long, and this is what happens when you hold in a fanfic story idea for too long. You end up imagining an entire dystopian National City AU. You end up halfway siding with Red Kryptonite Kara, who would get with Lena and take over this garbage world. You end up halfway siding with everyday Kara, who recognizes how high stakes both trying to be with Lena and trying to change world actually are. Then you realize that together those two create an ultra-badass hero who is both tender and strong af, both idealistic and shrewd and thus deserves an epic struggle that proves her bottomless excellence. Then you become as obsessed with being close with Lena as Kara is, and you struggle as much as she does to actually pull that off. You decide you should recreate Lex Luthor as a foil for Lena. So what I'm saying is, probably you should write that story idea you have without waiting. Don't let the idea sit in the back of your mind and take root, until you end up writing a story that's the size of two novels like I just did. Get free. Do sleep.
