Summary
For a while, neither of them spoke. They sat in a heavy silence, just the two of them. Aang looking up, Zuko staring straight ahead. He thought again of his cousin, of his mangled family and all they took, and how Aang had always, somehow, been at the center of it.
“You were dreaming about him, weren’t you?” Zuko said, suddenly. His chest tightened at the realization. It came together all at once, like someone had whispered the answer in his ear. Aang shifted beside him. His eyes almost flashed in the moonlight. “Of Roku.” Zuko clarified, though they both knew who he meant.

OR: Aang's 18th birthday stirs up a lot of unprocessed grief/feeling and with the inauguration of the United Republic just around the corner and increasing expectations the pressure of it all is becoming too muchRepublic City shenanigans, drunken never-have-i-evers, complicated visits home and a semi-arranged marriage inbound!
this is about the Gaang, five years after the war trying to find their way :)
I should say, if you've read beautiful boy this is definitely in the same universe in terms of vibe/characters/style/etc, just think of it as like not quite in the same canon but pretty much <3

NOT a multific but instead a return! Stand alone! These are scenes/snippets/shots written for my fic, beautiful boy, that did not make it in the final version. this is a "what if?" of sorts
these will be more clunky, and have some repeated dialogue/phrases from beautiful boy bc these are the first drafts! what ended up on the cutting room floor! i am always curious about other fic writer's process and apart of mine is writing a few versions of stuff, so i thought why not publish them for nothing else but to give a peek at my "process" (how fancy and refined)
hese are the "outtakes" of sorts that i've compiled from all the pieces that i decided didn't flow or add anything or felt ooc that i still think are worth something. anywhoooo if you want more of this universe, here is this! hope you enjoy:)
rly, these are for like 3 ppl who love the og like i do:)

Summary
Aang knew grief like an old friend. In his youth, it had been painful to grapple with the idea that the Air Nomads were gone, that he was truly alone. He knew deep down that no matter what he did, that weight on his shoulders was so heavy it would follow him into his next life. Spirits help his successor.
But this time, it was different. This was new. The emptiness that often accompanied the pit in Aang’s stomach was replaced with something sickening. His body rejected the possibility of Bumi’s death like poison. It wasn’t real. He had to be alive.
OR: When he's 19, Bumi II gets hurt in the United Forces and his family is told he is missing in action. Aang and Katara try to be there for their son and Tenzin and Kya navigate the new dynamic as friends and family rally aorund them. We explore family dynamics, being biracial, trauma, and being okay with being not okay.
(includes cloud baby flashbacks!)

Summary
At first, Toph didn’t like Katara. Every day Katara decided when she would wake up and Katara told her to eat her vegetables and Katara complained about how she packed her things. It made her blood boil.
Then they went to a dinner party with a crabby sexist old man.
At first , Toph couldn’t believe the soft motherly figure she was traveling with and Katara from the Aang's story about their water bending master were the same person. Now she knows they are. Miles away from any snow or ice, Toph can imagine what it would’ve been like to be there. This was the renegade bender from the South who refused to be knocked down.
OR: Toph and Katara go to a dinner party in Ba Sing Se to help with the invasion efforts, and Toph leaves knowing a more ~holistic~ version of Katara, a person who is motherly AND fought Pakku in the North. A girl who won't back down.

Summary
On the surface the two were completely perfect opposites. When they were children, the village elders would comment on how this was meant to be. Katara was born on a full moon in the dead of winter, and Sokka at the height of summer, at noon. As they got older the differences between them only grew. If Katara could make beads, Sokka could braid. When Katara followed her heart, Sokka relied on the strength of his mind.Where Katara pushed, Sokka pulled.
OR: A Sokka-centric look at Katara and Sokka's relationship throughout the years, taking in everything from the cost of having a father in war to their two years alone to how they love and everything in between.
Sokka's first memory is of Katara.

"Why?"
"Why leave home and drive across the country? Well, Keith, is your life going the way you thought it would?"
After six years of silence, Lance packing up and leaving his relatively quiet life behind sparks panic in his family. Enough panic for them to contact Keith to... track him down? Keith isn't too sure, only that getting roped into this miserable road trip wasn't part of his plan.

Summary
The next few days were filled with Lance informing everyone, multiple times, of their “new” friendship. “We’re friends now, did you hear? Keith and I are friends.” Over and over, big smile, loud voice. Looking between Keith and whoever he was telling like he expected a round of applause. Or confetti. Or a parade. What he usually got was somebody making a crack about bonding moments, which prompted a tight, put-upon sigh on Keith’s end. And Lance would look at him fondly, and Keith would have to bite his cheek to distract himself from how much he wanted Lance to lean over and kiss him.

Summary
When the officer drops his key in Lance's hand, he spots a big red number seven on the side. He turns to Hunk hopefully but is disappointed when he's shown a green three on his card.
Allura cranes her neck to call Keith, who's staring at his key like it personally offended him. "Keith? What is the number on your card?"
"Seven," he replies, lifting his card for everyone to see. Lance's heart sinks to the floor.
After returning to Earth, the Galaxy Garrison forces Team Voltron to quarantine, and Lance shares a room with Keith.

Summary
Keith had dreams of his future. Ones where he felt loved and comfortable. But they always ended before he could figure out who made him feel that way. And how could he dare to hope for a happy future in the middle of a war?
Meanwhile, Lance struggles to reconcile everything that has happened with the person his family and even friends expect him to be. Keith's starting to see raw sides of the paladin that are usually kept buried, sides that worry him but also remind him what they're actually fighting to protect.
