    Summary

In a forest, a child is running. That child is Princess Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon. She is running, but not out of fear anymore. She has seen someone she knows, someone she trusts. The man opens his arms and catches her. Their embrace lasts forever, yet it still isn’t long enough. The man crouches, his eyes scanning the little princess for any proof of pain, any wound, but when he finds nothing he turns back his blue gaze to her own.

    --

Ciri doesn't find Geralt at the end, she finds Jaskier. She has known him all her life, and she trusts him. He decides to bring her to Kaer Morhen so that she will find Geralt. He dreads the moment it will happen.

    Summary

Jaskier is used to being unwanted, not good enough to keep. Whether as a dragon who can't fly, or as a bard who doesn't know when to shut up, he's so useless that about the only thing he's good for - aside from being a burden to everyone he loves - is falling off of mountains.

He was pushed, the first time.

The second time, he'll go willingly.

    Summary

As he reached Roach he was humming some tune he hardly recognised. The mare nickered softly at him as he approached.
“Sorry, girl.” He patted his pockets for a forgotten apple slice but he knew they were empty. Instead he scratched behind her ears, the way she liked it. “I didn’t think—”
A wave of grief caught him off-guard, and he buried his head in her neck, breathing heavily. After a moment he went on. “I guess it would have been goodbye sooner or later. Just didn’t think it would be like this. Take care of the miserable bastard, all right? And I wish you a long and happy retirement, whenever it comes. Goddess knows you deserve a rest.”

Jaskier dug through the saddlebags for his few belongings, still tangled up with old black shirts he’d mended and socks he’d darned around campfires all over the Continent. Then he hefted his pack and lute onto his shoulder and walked away humming a merry tune.

Or: Jaskier's story of what happened after *that* mountain scene.

John is an empath. Which isn't nearly as much fun as it sounds. Most of the time, it’s not even useful.

    Summary

He may not like Yennefer, but he doesn’t want to be more of a burden than he’s been already. If he can convince them that he’s good, that he’s great, that he’s ready to take on the world once more, then he can be out of their hair. He’s just an imposition on the perfect little family they’ve got going on, and no matter how he feels he’s not going to homewreck them. Not when there’s a young princess involved.
