Summary
“I ain’t doin’ it.” A pause, the only noise the chatter from Helen’s whining sedan. “You can’t make me.”
It sounds petulant, a childish whim tossed into the abyss of their lacking conversation. “You ain’t my momma.”
Helen’s brakes let out a pitiful squeal—the same sound a pig sent to slaughter makes—and Raylan’s head bounces off the headrest of the front passenger seat. “Shit!” It’s not a muttered curse, no petulant whine, it’s a reflexive gasp of pain. His fingers dance over the wound they’d carefully been avoiding. They come back smeared with red.

Summary
Dan knows how Meant to Bean runs. He’s had to learn—considering it’s the family business. It was a part-time gig in high school, but he’s been steadily working for two years, grinding his way through what seems like hundreds of bags of coffee beans and using his paycheck to take classes at community college. During his entire run in the coffeeshop, nearly five years, he can count on one hand the number of drinks he’s spilled outside of that probationary period when he was a pink and pimply faced fifteen year old.
This last week, Dan has spilled coffee everyday; coating the countertop in iced chais, vegan mochas, and even a low-caf-vanilla-frappe. Sarah huffs a laugh each time, tosses him a towel, and adds a small tally to the chalkboard she’s tacked up on the wall.

Summary
2009, age 16
It’s dumb, really, that TK has planned this out down to varying fifteen minute intervals in his head. He truly thinks it’s stupid, but that does nothing to calm his nerves. Instead, TK pulls out a dingy piece of yellow loose-leaf, ripped off a legal pad that he’d found stuffed in his mom’s work bag, and flattens out the piece of paper against his thigh.
—
Or, TK comes out to his dad. Forty five minutes later, he does two lines at a basement party.

Summary
Diego thought joining the FBI would help him finally put all the bullshit of his childhood behind him. He hadn’t been to the academy in years, hadn’t spoken to his siblings or his “father” in years. That should be enough. And if not that, then surely the Bureau-mandated therapy sessions would do it.
Nope. Especially not when familiar looking bodies start turning up with numbers carved into them.
Shit. He has to make a call. Several calls.

Summary
Bradley is the star shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals. The announcers adore him, his teammates love him, and the fans, mostly female, relish that at 29 he’s still single. Right before the start of the season he meets Jake Seresin, the new in-game host and social media admin. Jake has a smile that lights up the sun, an ass that Bradley could stare at for hours, and abs that go for days. Most important? He does not seem to give a shit about the fact that Bradley’s one of the best shortstops in the game.
Jake Seresin did not expect to end up in fucking Missouri of all places, but after 4 years in the Navy to pay for a Public Relations and Communications degree? He’s gonna fucking use it. So Imagine his surprise when a moustached hunk runs into him in the tunnels of Busch Stadium. Literally. Jake won’t lie he’d climb the man in front of him like a tree, and might actually if he lets him. The only problem? He doesn’t even know what a shortstop does?
When Bradley finds out Jake doesn’t know the difference between a foul post and a goal post he makes it his mission to make Jake fall in love with the sport that changed his life. He never imagined he’d get Jake falling for him instead. He wasn’t going to complain.

Summary
It’s Raylan’s own fault for never taking vacation days. Apparently it’s such an aberration that his boss actually catches him as he's getting in the elevator, asks if somebody's dying.
He does feel a flicker of amusement at Dan’s expression when he tells him. I gotta go divorce my husband.
