Summary
Lan Wangji walks into the underworld to get Wei Wuxian. It takes him 13 years to prepare, and then he has 3 days to make it there and back. Although he doesn’t ask for help, help comes to him from unexpected quarters.As blood starts to coat the strings, Cloud Recesses lies dreaming all around him, with only the soft clatter of the spinning wheel and the hum of the spirit bridge to break the silence. In front of him, the invisible gate between the worlds stands ajar, and an otherworldly breeze shifts the ends of his forehead ribbon.
He breathes in.
He breathes out.
His bloody fingers unerringly pluck out the opening notes of the piece he knows by heart and down to the marrow of his bones, his spirit slowly rising out of his flesh as it settles in to wait. He steps up onto the table, light as a feather, takes one final look around the jingshi, which is as neat and empty as the life that he is leaving behind.
Wait for me, Wei Ying. I’m coming.
He turns his back to the world he knows and takes the first step.

This was inspired by @bigmamag on tumblr, who said:
"I just hurt myself thinking of the fact that pictures don’t exist in The Untamed and the only images Lan Wangji has of him is those shitty evil yiling patriarch caricatures that he just straight up burns whenever he sees out of anger. But what if on a night hunt like year 10 after Wei Wuxian’s death, Lan Wangji saves a very nice family’s daughter from a monster and they mention someone else helping their village and visiting a long time ago and the daughter shows him the accurate depiction of Wei Ying she drew back then of the nice cultivator who made her laugh through her injuries and Lan Wangji is frozen as Wei Ying smiles at him again, and he stares so longingly at it that the daughter insists that he keeps it and Lan Zhan does right next to the picture Wei Ying drew of him."

Summary
Harry by now should know better than to touch things that he'd been assured were harmless.
Too bad that circumstances aligned to give him no other choice, resulting in him and his godson being tossed back nearly a century into the past leaving him with a significant choice to make: did he keep his head down and try and avoid changing the future?
Or did he take a very deliberate step off of the pre-worn path and see if a few changes - just here or there - could create a better future for everyone, including him.

Summary
Lan Wangji brought two things back from the Burial Mounds: Wen Yuan, and the strange, almost sentient vine that led him to the child and would not untangle itself from him. Uprooted, it too survived the journey back to Gusu, and was left in the capable hands of two cultivators eager to study such an unusual plant.
But that's in the past. And Jin Ling thinks that Sizhui and the other Lan disciples are far, far too calm about the fact that Jingyi started growing roots.
