Summary
Haru is fairly convinced from the limited interactions he has had with one Kambe Daisuke that though he has somehow amassed a ridiculous unknowable wealth, he is severely lacking in the fundamental decencies it takes to be a basic human being. Daisuke, mildly amused by this boy who is so convinced of his ability to read him, decides to take a special interest in Haru. But Haru has plenty in his past that he has yet to deal with, and somehow Daisuke keeps showing up to help him through it.
**“Relax, will you? You look like a live animal about to be sent to slaughter.”
Haru’s eyes narrowed. “And it would kill you, I suppose, to be seen in a restaurant any less fancy than this one?”
“Hardly,” Kambe said, all pursed lips and cocked eyebrows. “You know, your continued misappraisal of me is as boring as it is inaccurate. You should consider a new character trait, I’m not sure this one will carry you through the series.”

"Are you afraid?" he finally asks, tracing circles into his shoulder with the tip of his finger.
Zuko smiles softly, as though knowing the thoughts that haunt his lover's mind. "No. Uncle is coming. I already hear him humming his funny old songs." The melodic rasp is fainter and fainter still, and the small flames about the room dwindle further.
Sokka feels his heart begin to pound in his chest again. His lifelong fears, beastly things in the night with blackened claws and bloodied teeth, are not so easily assuaged.
"Will you come for me? When it's my time, will you come for me and take me with you?"
Zuko looks up at him, eyes shining, and caresses Sokka's cheek with his hand.
"Of course. No force in any world could keep me away from you forever."
