Summary
Finally, Eliot says, “Quentin.” He turns to look him in the eye, his face settling into a casual smile. “We’re friends, right? We know each other pretty well?”
“Ye-es?” Quentin says.
“And you’re a brave boy,” Eliot says. “Open to delving into the unknown. Looking for your next great adventure.”
“I, uh.” That isn’t how Quentin would normally describe himself, but somehow — with Eliot’s hazel eyes shining at him, the full force of his warm, encouraging energy focused on Quentin’s face — he sits up a little straighter, and says, “Sure, I guess.”
“Great,” Eliot says brightly, “so how would you like to pretend we’re dating for a week so we can get into the most secretive magical couples’ party of the modern era?”

Summary
“It’s a—um—bonding enchantment?” Quentin twitches in his bed, all anxious energy, and wiggles closer to Eliot. “So that’s like—the curse is attached to our bodies and—um—”
“And your magic,” she says.
Margo sits down and takes Eliot’s free hand. “You’ll be fine. You just gotta share a bed with Coldwater without losing your mind until we figure out how to fix this.”
“That’ll be—” Eliot swallows hard, his throat clicking. “That’ll be fine. Definitely not a big deal.”
“El, we can’t do that—I mean, you can’t do that. That’s—that’s—” Quentin says, a tinge of desperation to his voice that makes Eliot’s chest grow tight.
“Q, I’m not going to—it’ll be just fine. We can find lots of workarounds.” So you can keep jerking off about Alice, he thinks. But he doesn’t say. Doesn’t want to say it. “We’re friends. It won’t be weird.”

Summary
He propels the idea out of a cannon. Buries it in the backwoods. Battens down the hatches. But the thought forms all the same.
What if… the axes didn’t work all the way? Maybe a part of The Monster… is still inside him. And it’d found his Happy Place, and was trying to get out.
Well. Shit.
He wants to smile. He wants to laugh. A full body, Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs cackle. Because otherwise, he’s going to start screaming again. Loud enough to shatter all the glass around them.***UPDATED 12/22/2020***
