“You were very lucky,” said Tessa Herondale. “You lost a fair amount of blood, but the wound wasn’t as bad as we feared and it will heal nicely, with time.”

Sequel/alternate ending to course set for an uncharted sea.

    Summary

Sam comes home to the poor kitchen looking like it’s been through a veritable baking frenzy. Flour on every conceivable surface. Batter-caked bowls, whisks, and spatulas, all piled haphazardly in the sink. A long red smear on the counter that she isn’t sure isn’t blood. Ingredients not put away - a half-torn bag of flour, an open bag of sugar, a softening stick of butter. The carton of milk is just sitting out.

    “Cat?” she yells.

Cat makes an earnest attempt at red velvet cake, and it goes...well-intended. At least Sam's frosting is good.

    Summary

Tuesday was Owen’s favorite day of the week, and Tuesday afternoon was his favorite time of the day. Generally speaking, there wasn’t much to like about a Tuesday, but that was why Owen had a very important tea on Tuesdays. It had been his godfather’s idea - to balance out the week, he’d said. In Owen’s mind, it heavily skewed the week in favor of Tuesdays, but he couldn’t have known that.

“Go on up,” Papa said. “Mâmân will be here to walk you home at six thirty.” He put his hands in his pockets and smiled. “Tell Matthew we said hello.”

James and Cordelia's son goes to spend the afternoon with his godfather.

    Summary

“Jace,” Robert repeats, stalls. Hodge looks mildly impatient, though impatient to do what, Robert can’t imagine. The Institute library is massive, but there are only so many ways to re-categorize books, and Hodge must have exhausted them by now. “Do you think Jace looks like Michael?”

He doesn’t tack on the desperate at all at the end, but he might as well have.

Hodge blinks at him owlishly. “Ah,” he says.

There's nothing of Michael Wayland in Jace, and Michael's parabatai knows it.

    Summary

Charles’s breathing was soft and even, so soothing Alastair almost wished he could lay down again and fall back asleep, curled up in Charles’s arms. But the sky was getting lighter, and soon people would be waking up and getting ready for the day. He would run the risk of getting caught leaving Charles’s bedroom. Their time was almost up.

A few more moments, Alastair promised himself, heart sinking with the prospect. A few more minutes. It’s still early yet.

    Summary

The first intake of breath hurt - stung like ice, in a body that was newly warm. It seemed to tear at his chest and lungs, he felt he could not do it again, but his body dragged in another breath, and another, and yet another, strung along by the force of living. He got used to the pain.

Cold air, cold, open air above him. It was dead silent. Jesse Blackthorn finally opened his eyes.

The unwilling resurrection of one Jesse Blackthorn.

    Summary

Ariadne told herself, grimly, that she was not hiding.

Her dissolved engagement with Charles had not changed her perception of him - indeed, she did not care much for him beyond their mutual understanding - but the pointed low hum and buzz of gossip ringing the ballroom had begun to prickle. Her reputation was stellar, more so than Anna’s (darling, lovely Anna), but then, she was less popular. Once or twice a few giggling speculations reached her ears, some blatantly cruel, some closer to the truth of her and Charles’ arrangement than she liked. Either way, a couple of polite turns about the dance floor and Ariadne was sick of it all.

So - not hiding. More of a temporary strategic retreat.

Ariadne and Alastair are both avoiding being at Charles and Grace's engagement party, for various reasons.

"Please, don't move. I'm having a hard enough time keeping you from bleeding out as it is."

"Oh," Alastair managed. His head was spinning, and he felt very cold. His fingertips had simply faded from existence. "Is that what this is?"

    Summary

“So, that’s, uh.” Hamilton cleared his throat. “That’s all I wanted to say.”

“You’re...gay,” Mary-Todd said slowly, like she was trying to parse some hidden meaning. Beside her, Eisenhower was dead silent.

Hamilton comes out to his parents and everything goes...pretty well, actually.

"This is what Robert knew: That Michael was the best friend he’d ever had, and probably the purest soul he’d ever know. That he should sit beside Michael, promise him that this was okay, that nothing needed to change, that the oath they’d sworn to each other was true, and forever."- The Evil We Love, Cassandra Clare.

If anyone happened to ask Helen Blackthorn, no, she was very much not pining over Aline Penhallow, and would they like a lacrosse stick to the face?

After all, no one said she had to tell the truth.

In which Helen Blackthorn crushes considerably hard on Mayor Penhallow's daughter, listens to the sage wisdom of her freshman brother, and, well, gets a girl.

“Drink,” says Michael, pressing the bottle into Robert’s chest, “a third, at least. Or so help me, Robert Jonathan, I’ll withhold your blankets.”

    Robert scowls. “That’s blackmail.”

“Helen,” Aline said, and there was laughter in her voice now. Her hand gently pressed over Helen’s, right over the perfect silver bow. Helen looked up.
Aline was smiling at her, a smile so soft with affection it made her heart skip a beat. “Would you like have dinner with me, Helen?”
“Oh!” Helen stared. “But I thought - ”

    Summary

They’re pushed into the back of the transport truck, a metal-wire enclosed space with hard metal benches. Eliza’s eyes go straight to cylindrical objects mounted on the walls, things she suspects of being small torches, and decides against telling Bonzo.

“Sit,” an officer barks brusquely. They each get a bench to themselves, Zed sitting across from her and Bonzo to her right, and are uncuffed and re-cuffed to welded metal brackets on the benches. The boys have to hunch a little so their heads don’t bump and scrape against the ceiling. “We’ll get moving in a minute. Be quiet.”

The missing scene from Z-O-M-B-I-E-S, when Zed, Eliza, and Bonzo are taken away.

    Summary

“Are you awake now?” Aline asked sweetly, sitting fully upright. Helen sat up as well, blue-green eyes wide and her lips slightly kiss-swollen. “Wide awake.”

Aline grinned a wicked grin. “Good,” she said.

Aline finds an effective way to wake up her girlfriend.
