Summary
The war has finally started and what's worse is that the nuclear explosion created a shock wave that short circuited all electronics in the US. Clarisse, Beatty, and Montag seemingly have nowhere to turn to but a warehouse full of books.
Another few days passed and they put off going back into the city, looking at the dark, gloominess of the area from the distance. They stuck to a routine. It was the same as before. Get up, clean, sleep. Eat in between, with the rations that had been stocked beforehand into that warehouse. They had yet to take showers or baths, as they haven't managed to fix the water heater and whatever issue they couldn't figure out yet that was causing problems with the water. No one had come in contact with them either. For all intents and purposes, they were all alone.

Sniffling, she glanced down at her wrist, rubbing the colorful mark. The birthmark that her father told her all those with Silver Eyes had —unique to them and a sign of her Soulmates. Just like her mother had a 'bracelet-like tattoo of a golden dragon and black feathers', Ruby had an emerald clock face with gears inside of it, floral vines wrapped around the gears and two black wings on either side of the clock.
She was way too young for love, but it'd be nice to have someone to keep the nightmares away.

It started with white petals. Atsushi had gone on to become fond of the smarmy, prideful jerk, but honestly Francis could just make her so happy and laugh so much. And then the sneaking suspicion that maybe she cared for him more than she should, more than the friendship she thought they shared. Then the striped petals came. By the time the red carnations came spitting out of her mouth, she was too in love and longing for him to stop Hanahaki from taking over.
She laughed weakly and looked to an amused, sympathetic Francis watching her with his pretty blue eyes and firmly shut her mind and feelings down, filling herself with complete denial.
Atsushi focused on him, refusing to see Yosano glance between them and gain a sorrowful expression colored with resignation, even though from the corner of her eye she’d seen and knew what she was thinking and had put together.
Because it wasn’t true.
She was not in love with a man so desperately grieving and missing his estranged, unhappy wife and deceased daughter.

The wedding hadn’t taken long at all, the fact that he was married had not yet sunk in. Joining the Kingsguard meant he would have no wife, he had given that up.
