He trusted me with a blade, his powers, and, sometimes, his thoughts, until I turned the blade on him, used his powers against my brothers and sisters, and sold his thoughts to Delilah. This old woman with hard features and a cruel tongue is right to want me dead for what I did to her son. I’d want me dead, too, if someone else had done to Daud what I did to him.
