Diluc would become achingly familiar with this question, but to right the injustices of the world was his creed. There was nothing more unjust than depriving a person of their very emotions, ones they'd worked hard to forge over a life that should not be and yet was. He would restore Albedo's heart. That, he swore.
(Or the one in which Albedo loses his heart and everyone, Diluc especially, rallies around him to restore it.)

Childe’s goal had been rather simple. Replace a newly ascended heavenly official as a martial god, make sure no one could uncover his true identity as the devastation Tartaglia, find the earth master Rex Lapis, and then steal an artifact from him. Easy profit.
Or at least, it should have been.
He wasn't banking on falling in love with the god he was meant to steal from.

Xerxes is in a golden age of scientific and alchemical advancement. Unhindered by major internal conflict like their neighbors, the desert civilization has prospered. Still, many of its mysteries have gone unsolved, including the baffling disappearance of the Elric brothers from the royal palace five years ago.
Ling doesn't know or care about that. He's more concerned with more important things, like his next meal, or obtaining immortality to save his clan. He wants nothing to do with abducted princes or alchemically created monsters.
Unfortunately, he doesn't get much choice in the matter.

Edward Elric had many regrets in life; Nina Tucker, Maes Hughes and the attempted human transmutation. But there were also things he didn't regret, giving up his alchemy and starting a family with Winry.
So, yeah, he was doing pretty fucking amazing, thank you very much.
And he certainly didn't need to accept any offer a certain no face white silhouette had to give him.
