    Going through my bookmarks a few days ago, I realized that I never saved this, and I wanted to kick myself for it. This fic is ridiculously IC, and Aizawa as he's written here is pretty much canon anyway. Also, he has my infinite love and sympathy for having to hold All Might, Deku and Kacchan's collective brain cell for them.

When it gets really bad, Katsuki finds himself in bed, replaying their fights like a movie on the ceiling. He sees Deku’s mangled body in his nightmares, jolts awake with saltwater vision and a lead tongue. He can never sleep after. On those nights, he spends hours upon hours fighting in the trenches of his self-induced mental warfare—what could I have done differently, how could I have protected him better, how do I pretend that I’d be able to live in a life that’s not in Deku’s shape.

    Oh dear God, this was devastatingly good. I'm a sucker for a Katsuki who's absolutely smitten with Izuku, but cannot for the life of him sort out the complicated tangle of his own emotions.

    The prose in this was concise, but still wonderfully beautiful, and Katsuki's voice fits so well with what's been established in canon that it feels completely believable.

    “Fuck,” says Izuku. “Fuck, oh god, I killed someone.”

    (Izuku does have a quirk - it's the power to see when someone has unhealthy attachment issues and obsessive tendencies. That would explain why some of his classmates seem a little off.

    Except Kacchan, probably. Kacchan's always been dangerous.)
