"Show them that there is at least one elvhen left in the Dales who has not forgotten the old ways, and she does submit to anyone.” Solas kissed his way down her jaw, her throat, unbuttoned her military jacket to warm her clavicle; each press of his lips was soft, unassuming, a small space in which she shored up her strength.
“Two elvhen ,” Thanduwen corrected, softly, lifting her chin to grant him better access to her throat. “You and I both, no? Difficult to imagine you submitting to anyone."
He sighed—again, she smelled the sweetness of vintage Heartland wine on his breath—and it was a wistful sound, a hair’s breadth away from a surrender. Withholding and longing, he looked at her, drunk and warm, and full of such unbridled affection it disarmed her.
Solas drew near, pressed a kiss in the corner of her mouth, whispered the words like a secret: a pick slipped into a lock chamber.
“To you, vhen’an, I might.”
