Summary
The desert gets cooler when the suns go down. Quieter. Last time Din had been here they were so high and blazing he’d almost cooked his brain inside his helmet. Sizzling away in there like a fried egg, glossy with oil and spitting meanly. The child had been a weight on his hip. Now he feels thrown off balance; his centre of gravity shifted, but not readjusted to its new loss.

Summary
Many times, Cobb has imagined leaning over and touching his fingertips to the helmet. Will it be warm, soaking up the sun? Or will it be cold, colder than anything is in the deserts of Tatooine? In his fantasies he says, I can see you. Behind the glass, I can see you. And his imagined Din lifts a hand to touch the sharp underside of the helmet, and says, I know.

Summary
For a moment, Cobb doesn’t open his eyes. He shifts, letting himself feel the length of Din’s body in his arms, breathing in the warmth of him. Stars, he doesn’t ask for much. Maybe this, maybe just for awhile, he can have.
Cobb can’t pinpoint the moment Din moves from sleep into wakefulness, but he gradually becomes aware of the change in his breathing, the slight tension in his limbs.
He presses his nose into Din’s hair at the nape of his neck and feels a shudder run through him.
“You tell me to let go and I will,” Cobb says softly. “I won’t pretend to like it, but I will.”
