Zuko and Katara both expect sub-par drinks and terrible music when they walk into a Republic City dive bar on a chilly December night. They don't expect to find love but they find it anyways.
Zuko isn't good at planning. This fact was known by many, from his family to his crew, heck even the Avatar's group knew he couldn't plan well. But Zuko feels that he has been through a lot, so others should forgive him if his current plan involves only three vague steps: (1) find the Avatar (2) teach the Avatar firebending (3) kill Azula.
or: when Zuko joins the gaang he is older, has a kid, and is on a quest for revenge. This changes everything and nothing.
*Chapter 12 is an Author’s Note*
- Part 1 of a tale of fire and light
"The world has changed, Ursa! Things are not as they once were."
"You are wrong, Iroh. Nothing ever changes, not really."
or: Ursa stitches the teared fabric of her family, life, and nation back together but finds that there are some tears that cannot be mended.
Katara knows that this whole mess started with the burning. Nothing was ever the same after that. Not her, not Zuko, and not the country.
or: Katara knows Zuko is alive even if he himself refuses to accept it.
Families, both blood and bond. Wars, both internal and external. Identities, both inherited and created. And one firebending prince at the center of it all.
or: To protect his son, Zuko will do anything. Maybe that is his problem.
Three years after losing the war, a bitter and cynical Aang is told by the Avatar spirits that he has to relive his adventures - this time, with Zuko and Azula at his side in a war against the Water Tribes. [Being continued for the first time in almost 10 years! Working on editing the older chapters]
