Akutagawa comes to realize that he likes Atsushi far more than he should. Not knowing how to deal with it, he tries to bury these newly discovered feelings within himself. He creates a distance between himself and his partner, leaving Atsushi confused at his behavior.

Summary
Everyone can tell that Dazai and Atsushi have feelings for each other. Atsushi's expression brightens whenever Dazai walks into the room, and Dazai in turn seems to find any excuse to be close to Atsushi. They appear close to the point where anyone could believe that they're dating, and they aren't exactly subtle. It's plain to see that they like each other.
The problem is that the pair in question are the only ones who don't seem to realize this.
