Oh, it is harmful, Lan Wangji thinks through a spinning head as he feels Wei Wuxian twist their hands this way and that, testing the limits of the curse. It is most certainly harmful.

A curse brings Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji together—literally.
(tl;dr a curse makes teen!wwx and teen!lwj hold hands. lwj, who is very much in denial about his feelings, tries his best not to panic and wwx decides that Operation: Make Lan Zhan My Best Friend is a GO. hilarity ensues)

“I misunderstood. My fault.”
“What? You didn’t misunderstand. I don’t think.” He smiled, rubbing at his arm. The snap in the air was as crisp as biting into ice chips, and goosebumps were rising on his skin. “Uh, okay, um, this is really weird for me. I...don’t remember you.”
Lan Wangji slowly glanced over at him, his lips twitching into a frown. “What?”
“Yeah…” He tipped his head back, looking up at the stars. He’d always been able to see more when he’d lived out on the lake in Yunmeng, but the city wasn’t half-bad. “This is uh…”
“The doctors said you were fine.”
His head twisted, and Wei Wuxian stopped walking. Lan Wangji did as well, as if on instinct, and they stared at each other. “Yeah, well...I wasn’t. I don’t remember much of the hospital, but...I know what jiejie told me. After the accident...I woke up, everything was fine for about a week. I was going in and out of consciousness, but I seemed to be improving. But, then I had a seizure. And then another one. And another one. They took me for an MRI, and my brain was swelling.” He twisted up his lips, and Lan Wangji reached out for him, only to pull his hand back at the last second.

Lan Xichen pauses before he speaks. He often does. “A-Yao, will you…?”
There are any number of things that Lan Xichen might be about to say. He might be about to say, “A-Yao, will you cook breakfast while I bathe in the river?” But then, there is a gravity to his tone, and a flush on his cheeks. So perhaps it will be, “A-Yao, will you do that thing with your tongue?” Or even more thrillingly, “A-Yao, will you teach me how to do that thing with your tongue?”
Lan Xichen does not say any of these things. He says, “A-Yao, will you marry me? If we both survive the war, will you marry me?”

Lan Xichen proposes before the war. Somehow, through the property of transitivity, Wei Wuxian becomes Meng Yao’s problem to solve.

"Wei Ying is very good at growing things," Lan Zhan says and takes his hands, uncaring of the dirt. Wei Wuxian knows enough now to let him, knows enough that it is something Lan Zhan wants, almost needs, to stain his hands with Wei Wuxian like this.
And then later, as their scents mingle with each other's - Sandalwood and pine and lotus blooms, like a place where the mountains meet water, Lan Zhan splays his fingers across Wei Wuxian's stomach, whispers softly into the slope of his shoulders.
"Wei Ying is very good at growing things."
