“How long have I known you, now?” Niall asked Harry, moving his barstool closer to the brunette. The blonde was two pints in and was nursing a third. Harry was still on his first and munching on chicken tenders.
“Three days, six hours and—” Harry stopped to check the time on his phone then continued. “Thirty-five minutes.” He smiled, eyes crinkling.
Niall chuckled and looked away briefly. “I don’t really get it,” he said.
“What don’t you get?” asked Harry, tilting his head to watch Niall.
“Well, you’ve been so kind and everything - given me a new me!” Niall said happily, moving in a little closer to the brunette. “I don’t know how to thank you.”
Harry looked down at his beer sheepishly. “It is really nothing…”
“No, hang on!” Niall said, putting his hand over Harry’s wrist and looking directly into his eyes. “Listen, when we met I was in a bad place - it was more than giving up on music and you knew that. I love my da more than anything in the world but my little room above the shop and the same view of the street outside...that was looking like my life forever. And that was only three days ago. Three days….so thank you.”

Summary
Niall likes this part. He likes stacking the albums and humming the songs from them under his breath. He likes the peace that comes over him when he performs the simplistic task. He’s getting pretty into the tune from ‘Breathe’ when someone clears their throat and startles him out of his Pink Floyd induced trance.
“Do you do the whole thing, or just from the point where they start singing?” a slow, deep voice asks before Niall can turn around.
“Whole thing.” Niall says lightly, not bothering to turn around, lest the guy see the embarrassed flush on his cheeks from getting caught.
“Conjoined with ‘Speak To Me’ or separate?” the guy asks.
“Separate, the way it was written to be for the original vinyl.” Niall tells him. “Something I can help you with?”
“Normally someone looks at another person when they ask that.” the other guy points out.
“I’m a good multi-tasker.” Niall says with a shrug. He prays that his blush has receded, and turns around.

Summary
“Go on a date with me.” He says out of breath, like he just ran a whole marathon and he needs water, which is funny because Niall’s mouth feels dry.
“What?” Niall whispers and clears his throat, because maybe his brain is playing with him and the guy who he’s been fantasizing about is not actually asking him on a date.
“You come here every day at 7 in the morning when I know your job starts at 8. You order the same thing every day and we talk until your coffee is cold and you have to drink it all at once because it’s disgusting but you never ask me to microwave it.” Harry stops to take a breath and he looks down, feeling his cheeks getting warm. “But, Niall… Why do you think I’m here every morning waiting for you?”

Well, since you asked. Niall could end up falling madly in love with a guy who's promised himself to another man, end up dedicating an entire art show to him and have everything he thought he ever knew turned upside down. Which funnily enough, is exactly what does happen.
