    Summary

Horde Prime is gone. The war is over, and the future is full of hope. But Catra, still haunted by the past, struggles to move on, even with Adora by her side.

When she sleeps, she's at her most vulnerable. She can only keep the memories at bay for so long. In her dreams, there's nothing she can do to stop them.

Confronting her feelings of powerlessness is painful, even years after the end of the war. But maybe experiencing powerlessness is exactly what she needs to heal.

A story about Catra's trauma, her issues with vulnerability, her relationship with Adora, and getting tied up.

“If you’re not here for a treaty and you’re not commanding the attack, what do you want, Adora?”

“You don’t want to talk about land?” Adora asks lightly. At Catra’s narrowed eyes, she continues. “Fine. I guess we can just catch up with each other then.”

Catra’s mind is screaming 'what the actual fuck' but she pretends to wait patiently.

“I’m going to get married,” is what somehow leaves Adora’s mouth. Like she’s talking about the weather or something and not shifting everything in Catra’s brain.

The war finally ends, not with one final dramatic stand but with Hordak crushed in the foundry like a coward. So if everyone could just stop lecturing about friendship and forgiveness and stay out of the Fright Zone, that would be cool, ok? But a year later, in saunters that blonde idiot, dragging Catra out of her peaceful depression and into a bunch of princess nonsense. She-Ra is gone. Etheria has a chance for peace. But Adora’s got a new secret mission. Would be nice if she’d bother letting Catra in on what it is though since, you know, Catra’s kinda the key to it all…

    Summary

Adora volunteers at an animal shelter as a way to destress from her job as a rookie for the Bright Moon fire department. She gets to hang out with cats and dogs and make their lives a little bit better. It's perfect! Or would be perfect were it not for Catra, the kennel manager with the stick up her butt.

The Catradora animal shelter fic we all have been waiting for. Maybe.

“Mmhm.” She was suspicious, which was fair, Adora thought. It probably all seemed sketchy. “And what would you get out of this?”

“Your company.” Catra raised an eyebrow. “I’m serious. I live a very… isolated life. It’s hard to make friends when you’re running one of the biggest companies in the country.”

Catra opened and closed her mouth a few times, clearly stunned. Adora had to smirk a little, proud of herself for that reaction. “Here.” She pulled out her wallet, counting out a few hundred dollar bills. Three went on the table for the meal, and for the waitress, and two went to Catra, along with a business card. “Think about it. Call me if you’re interested.”

    “And if I’m not?”

Adora shrugged, standing. “Then you just got a free meal to listen to me talk. Not a bad trade off, right?”

She didn’t want to be too smug, but she was pretty sure she had Catra’s attention as she walked away.

"“Oh my God,” Catra said, barely above a whisper. “You’re rich as fuck, aren’t you?”

“Guilty,” Adora said, cringing a little. “Sorry. I thought Glimmer told you.”

“I’m gonna fucking kill her.” Catra shook her head, trying to wipe the stunned expression off her face. “I can’t believe she set me up on a blind date with a goddamn millionaire.”

    “Yeah,” Adora said awkwardly. “Oops.”

“It’s—” Catra shook her head. “Okay, Glimmer aside, how would you paying for my tuition even work? I mean, we—we’ve only been on one date, and it’s not even over yet.”

“It’s a crazy idea,” Adora said. “I know. Just—just forget I said anything.”

Maybe it was the buzz of alcohol, or maybe it was the shock of finding out she was on a blind date with a rich person, but Catra couldn’t stop herself from blurting, “Well, I didn’t say no.”

    A beat.

Adora blinked, looking up at her. “What?”

Or: Catra is a physics PhD student struggling to balance life, work, and loans. When her friend sets her up on a blind date, she doesn't expect it to be with the most attractive millionaire she's ever seen. They work out an arrangement.
