Summary
The ride’s a million times better in reverse. They coast downhill, wind in their hair, Niall’s breath hot on his neck. Zayn doesn’t need to pretend the ease is all down to gravity. He’s had two years to accept reality, plus half a degree in Literature to fully grasp metaphors.

Based on this prompt I found on tumblr:
Person A is at the grocery store about to lose it because their toddler is crying for their favourite orange juice that seems to be out.
Person B is the shy but helpful worker that has a crush on Person A. They’ve noticed them coming in and grabbed the carton they hid yesterday.
“We were going to run out and I had noticed you two come in every Thursday for it…so I put a carton in the back cooler for you.” -

“Woah, hey, easy there,” he says, and close up like this, Zayn can definitely recognize the little facial features that make Niall, Niall. Those perfectly blue eyes, those freckles, that mouth… but then there’s that beard, and that brown hair, and Zayn can’t believe it.
“Niall…” Zayn says, shaking his head but holding eye contact. “When did you get, I mean, like, when did you start looking like that?” He doesn’t know how else to say it really.
Niall quirks an eyebrow and then laughs, although he seems to realize the severity of Zayn’s statement before he’s done or something because it kind of cracks at the end. “Umm… Well, it was a gradual process, like everyone else I think.”

Summary
Niall carries a notebook with him everywhere he goes. It’s filled with glimpses of conversations he’s had with people; scribbles of words that couldn’t be communicated through speech or sign. Occasionally, Niall attempts to tell Zayn something with his hands, but the older boy never understands. He tries though; really, he does, because he’s unusually fascinated with Niall’s big blue eyes and the way his callused fingers move in muted syllables.
Sometimes Zayn goes out of his way to bump into Niall.
