Sylvain frowns but nods. “I want to go back. I have to bring Felix back. Even if I…” His words get caught up in his throat, but he forces himself to spit them out. “Even if I have to forget him.”
After an encounter with death and a faulty use of Sothis's Divine Pulse, Sylvain loses all his memories of Felix, the man that he's loved for years.

There's nothing, and no one, left on this wretched planet but Felix.
Well, he sure hopes that’s not the case. Sure, it’s fun being allowed to do whatever you want, but the allure wears off when you realize that there’s no one around to do anything with you or that almost everything around you is contaminated with a shit-ton of radioactive gunk and disease agents. And it certainly sucks more knowing that there are people out there that Felix—yes, Felix, cold, distant, and occasionally but not always intentionally mean Felix Hugo Gautier-Fraldarius—actually cares about.
He can’t say for certain that he knows if they’re alive or not. He can’t say for certain that he even knows where they are. All he knows is that if he has to, he’ll traverse this entire, pathetic planet to find them and make sure they’re safe, even if it takes all eternity and even if Felix is a mere second from dying. He’ll search for his friends with his everything he's got.
And he’ll search for Sylvain with his dying breath.
Amidst a major nuclear arms war, Felix begins his long search for Sylvain and his friends. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Sylvain begins his own search for Felix.

“I can’t believe him,” comes Ingrid's voice. “Sylvain’s still not anywhere to be found. Doesn’t that idiot know that we’ve been looking for him?”
“I find it quite odd too, Ingrid,” Dimitri replies, looking exasperated. Sylvain thinks that it’s kind of funny that Dimitri would have to put up with Ingrid’s wrath, now that Sylvain is gone. He’d expected her to go bother Felix before coming near His Highness with her gripes.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, but isn’t this kind of a big problem?” comes the soft voice of Mercedes, drawing the blondes’ attention to her. “It’s a little concerning that Sylvain would go missing right after we find Flayn, who had also just gone missing.”
"I’m sure he’s fine,” Ashe quickly cuts in with a worried frown. “Sylvain is a very capable fighter. He’d never just get kidnapped, don’t you think?”
“Why would anyone want to kidnap Sylvain anyway?” Annette muses, cocking her head.
'Hey! I’m a very desirable person,' Sylvain wishes he could joke, just to see his friends stop being so concerned. 'Who wouldn’t want to kidnap this redhead mess?'
In which Sylvain goes missing, and a new cat shows up on the monastery grounds.

Sylvain has a sinking feeling that he won’t be able to last that long. Mercedes’s medical tent is quite a ways from their home, even if she lives relatively nearby. Sylvain’s body feels like a furnace yet he can’t stop trembling. His chest feels like he’s being constricted by that same damned snake that bit him. His head is spinning, and his stomach spins along with it. He just wants to shut his eyes and rest, but he refuses to rest until he tells Felix that he loves him.
Just as Felix starts to move, Sylvain gathers up all his strength and lunges at Felix’s leg, hugging onto him and effectively keeping him in place.
“Sylvain, let go! I have to go find Mercedes right now!”
“Felix,” Sylvain slurs. Even though he hates how colors blur together and how shapes lose their distinct shapes, he forces himself to keep his eyes open, to will the tears away from his eyes, to remain calm. “Felix, I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing and let me find Mercedes!” Felix tries to pull his leg from Sylvain’s grip. Felix gasps out a sob. “Please, Sylvain.”
