Lan WangJi left Yiling, left Wei WuXian, left behind his heart that stung and bled and pulsed with hope and love.
Wei WuXian knew. He knew, and he carried the forehead ribbon, and Lan WangJi begrudged every moment apart, every inch between them, but there were things that had to be done. He put his trust in Wei WuXian's strength. Even damaged, his heart should lead him down a righteous path. Lan WangJi had only to be quick about his own part in this endeavor, and then he could return, reassure himself of Wei WuXian's well-being, hold him once more, ask of him again to return to Gusu.... In the meantime, he hoped that his own heart, given willingly into Wei WuXian's hands, would be of some small comfort to him.
