Summary
When Kurt's thirteen, his father sits him down at the kitchen table and stares at him. Looks at him and looks through him until Kurt's shifting uncomfortably because he's pretty sure this means he did something wrong and is going to get punished, but for the life of him he doesn't know *what* he did. He knows his dad's kind of freaked out because he broke his arm, but he'd told his dad that he fell (doesn't mention being pushed, doesn't mention being called queer) and he's pretty sure his dad had believed him.

Summary
Blaine doesn't meet Kurt during his sophomore year at Dalton - but fate intervenes and makes sure they still cross paths a little later in their lives. When Blaine is about to start his first year studying Musical Theatre at Tisch School of the Arts, he loses his iPhone in a New York City cafe - and fashion major Kurt is the one who finds it and returns it to him. And if negotiating his new friendship with Kurt and all that entails (possible romance, surviving meeting Rachel Berry and occasional karaoke nights) doesn't keep Blaine busy enough, he's living with Cooper who happens to be in rehearsals for The Worst Play in New York.

After all the stories that have gone around the academy (Cadet Hummel stared down Captain Kam’har over a question of Federation Treaty history; Cadet Hummel’s ingenious jury-rig after the simulator engines were disabled helped bring his captain’s crew the closest to defeating the Kobayashi Maru scenario that anyone has managed in three years; ice runs in Cadet Hummel’s veins, possibly literally; Cadet Hummel once got into a bar fight with 16 Klingon warriors and a sehlat, and won), Blaine is picturing a larger-than-life figure.
