When he turned back again, there was a clear challenge in his eyes. “If I slept with you, then I’d probably end up falling in love with you, which is the last thing you want. No don’t deny it – even admitting we’re friends is too much commitment for you. You definitely don’t want me to be in love with you. If you think I’m too much now, just wait and see what I’d be like then!”

They were half way through the second bottle by now, and their shoulders were touching. She could feel the hard line of Jaskier’s thigh against hers. She was very aware of the chest hair visible at the open neck of his shirt, and how he could probably see down her dress from here. She hadn’t moved to put any distance between them and neither had he.
“Why are we still talking about him? I don’t care about Geralt of Rivia any more,” lied Yennefer.
“Nor do I,” Jaskier lied back.

Geralt looks puzzled by the question. “I’ve never thought about it.”
Jaskier passes him the vodka. “Come on. You have to have some secret dream. Horse trainer? Pirate? King of Kaedwen?”
“Not worth thinking about, since it won’t happen.” Geralt shakes his head. “What about you? What would you do if you weren’t a viscount? Be a bard?”
“Of course. And you, my very best friend in the world, would be my muse.”
Geralt scoffs. “I’d be a shit muse.”
Geralt and Jaskier are seven years old when they meet, Geralt a terrified child surprise on his way to Kaer Morhen and Jaskier the lonely bastard son of the Earl de Lettenhove. Over the next fifteen years, they become friends, fall in love, break each other’s hearts, and find their way back to each other.
