Had anyone else seen them like this, they would have had the feeling that they should look away; that they were intruding on something very private. Not A-Yuan. Their closeness never bothered him and he never worried that his presence made them feel uncomfortable or that they could not act as they pleased with him there. On the contrary, when A-Yuan saw the two of them with their guards down, unafraid of exchanging physical contact or sentimental words, it filled him with a warm affection that spread outwards from his heart.
He knew it would be a strange notion to anyone he confided in, but he considered both of these men to be his fathers. -

It hit Derek all at once. The way John kept looking at his phone and watch with concern. He had been waiting for Stiles, wondering where he was and why he hadn’t shown up yet. Which meant that Stiles didn’t call to tell him he couldn’t make it. Stiles was supposed to come waltzing through the door yesterday in some grand gesture and he never showed up.
Derek could feel the panic rising in his throat, feel his chest constricting painfully. His heart seized, and he leaned forward and clutched at the countertop, his knuckles turning white with how hard he was squeezing the edge.
“Oh my God.” Derek breathed out. “Is Stiles dead?”

“You know if they’re driving you crazy, as the look on your face would imply, the seat next to me is open,” Stiles grinned. Derek cocked his eyebrow at him. “Which I’m sure you knew as you’ve been sitting in it for the past couple of minutes.”
Derek smiled then, tempted. “Thanks, but if I tell them I’m ditching them to talk to a guy, my sisters will never let me hear the end of it.”
“Pity,” Stiles said, “’cause I think getting some flak from your siblings would be totally worth it if I got to spend a bit more time with you.”
And there it was. Stiles’ eyes – those not-brown, not-hazel eyes – flickered down from Derek’s face to his stomach, where his short-sleeved, button down shirt was undone all the way, leaving his abs exposed to the world, and Stiles’ lingering gaze. The corner of Stiles’ mouth pulled up again before he looked away, picking up his beer and taking another swig. The uncertain worry Derek held in his stomach only moments ago was replaced with uncontrollable, fluttering butterflies.
Or where Derek and Stiles meet on vacation at Myrtle Beach.

Nothing good would come out of dwelling on the events of tonight. Buck made an impulsive choice that turned into a funny situation, and Eddie went along with it because he was being a good friend. As he always is. Nothing to any of it.
