Summary
His name is Eddie Diaz, he has brown hair and brown eyes, and he's in love with Evan Buckley.
Eddie can easily admit it to himself but struggles with the idea of actually telling Buck. While their friendship is a big reason why Eddie fell in love with Buck, it's also what is holding him back from confessing his feelings. As wonderful as the best-case scenarios look, at the end of the day there's always the chance that his confession would lead to him losing that friendship and that's a risk he's not sure he's ready to take.
It takes therapy, countless hours of self-reflection, support from family, and one list of pros and cons for the truth to come out.

Summary
“Dad!”
Buck gets up from where he was sitting on the couch and reading his book and walks to Christopher’s room. The door is closed like it usually is these days, so Buck knocks on the door before pushing it open.
“Your dad’s not home yet,” he tells him.
Christopher is at his desk, putting his notebooks and books into his backpack. Seems like he’s finished with homework, then.
“I know,” Christopher says and lifts his head to look at Buck. “I meant you.”
-.-.-
Christopher calls Buck a dad, Buck has complicated feelings about it, and Eddie is a steady comfort through it all.

Summary
He takes off the gloves and reaches under his seat and pulls out two bulletproof vests and gives one of them to Buck.
“Put this on under your coat,” he says. “It’s not much but…”
“Yeah.”
They work quickly, putting on their vests and then their turnout coats over them, aware that their kidnappers could come back any minute.
“We need a way to take them out,” Buck says, his voice low as they hear noises from the front, indicating that their captors have found the tracker and are removing it.
“They have guns, but we’re not helpless either,” Eddie says, looking around them at the ambulance.
“What are you thinking?”
-.-.-
Alternative take on 5x06, where the mention of Christopher makes Buck and Eddie decide to fight back.

Summary
“They found Buck.”
Hen’s hand goes to her chest. Chim stumbles like he’s been hit, hand curling around the back of a chair for balance.
And Eddie -
Eddie’s knees give out. He’s lucky there’s a chair right under him because he just buckles, head in hands, trying to remember how to breathe.
“Is he - did they - what…what did they find?”
“He’s alive.”
“What?” Eddie’s head snaps up.

Summary
Eddie comforts Buck after a nightmare - only it's less like the nightmares Buck is used to, and more like a stress dream. Thankfully, just like always, Eddie seems to know exactly what Buck needs without Buck even being able to say that he needs it.

Summary
Eddie licked his dry lips as he reached for his radio, trying to keep his movements slow and delicate to prevent any more damage to himself or Buck. “Diaz to Captain Nash.”
“Go for Nash,” came Bobby’s quick reply. “You two okay? Where are you?”
“We’re in a bit of a sticky situation here…”
“We’re a shish kabob, Cap!” Buck chimed in.
Eddie rolled his eyes.

Summary
Chimney studies him for a moment. Sounding uncharacteristically sincere, he says, “Eddie’s going to be okay.”
“He almost wasn’t,” Buck replies.
“Shit,” Chimney mutters. He finally lets Buck have his hands back and sits down heavily in the chair next to him. “You can’t think that way, Buck. Close calls—they’ll fuck you up, you know? You’ll spend all your time worrying about something that didn’t happen and miss the significance of the stuff that actually did.”
