Turns out Nicolo has a good head for military strategy/is actually the head of Yusuf’s spy network/etc. The boytoy lounging around in silks sipping expensive wine while the Royal Council debates important state matters is just that - an act. Only Yusuf’s innermost circle is aware that in private they never so much as touch. Nicolo takes his job very seriously and Yusuf respects him as the talented professional and valuable advisor he is. Summary
They die by each other’s swords. Many times. Until Yusuf offers his hand. Yusuf wants to go back home, to his loved ones. Nicolò follows. How do Yusuf and Nicolò start traveling together and communicating? How do they learn about each other, their personality, their past? How do they become friends before feelings that shouldn’t be born between ex enemies start to bloom? How do they deal with immortality and what it entails? Slowly, with pining, tears and laughter.

Summary
Nicolò diGenova was a man training to be a priest, his life laid out before him, before he killed a man and ended up in Old Guard Prison, sentenced to 80 years, where the prisoners and guards are waiting to tear him apart. This is his punishment and he is not afraid to face it. This is where he expects to live out the rest of his life in penance. What he isn't expecting is Yusuf "Joe" Al-Kaysani, a fellow prisoner in for grand larceny, and the crashing of their two orbits. As Nicky fights to survive and Joe struggles not to feel anything for the former priest-turned convicted killer, they may find solace and purpose in each other. This is how they fall in love, fight to survive, and try to make a life in the worst of conditions.
