"Are we aliens?" she asks, thinking about grandpa's words and her dad's hesitation and all the things people at school say sometimes, the way she feels behind her lungs when other people say or do things she just doesn't get.

(It doesn't occur to her to single herself out. She and her dad are the same, and Thea and her dad are the same, and they're all the same as each other. Whatever she is all four of them are, even if they're different sometimes too.)

“Alexander Hamilton! I’m at your service, sir!”

Aaron looks at the hand and doesn’t take it. His hands are safely in his pocket, but he’d taken off his gloves, and he is not particularly in the mood to feel the single most consequential juncture of a stranger’s life.

Alexander is still grinning at him, and the moment is stretching on, and he refuses to put his hand down, and Aaron has about half a second before this staring contest verges beyond the mere impolite and into the territory of heavy, awkward weight and scattered excuses—and before he can think better of it, Aaron takes Alexander’s hand.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I'm continually impressed by authors who can write groundhog day stories. And this one is amazing. (Probably best I've read ) Also one of the best depictions of a quasi-immortal. You really get to see Burr expand in his knowledge throughout the work.
