They could hear the laughing and screeching continue off in a distance as Tony turned to his husband with a content smile and an argument that 'we should have adopted him too'.
Steve could only shake his head in horror with a massive grin on his face as he bent over to kiss Tony softly, holding his brunet with warmth.
Which lasted for mere seconds before they'd been plucked out of bed by a frustrated Rhodey who kept complaining about how recklessly Bucky had driven on their way there.
Or
Steve coming to terms with the fact that sometimes he has to trust others to save the day. That sometimes the best he can do is tuck his children under his arms and save their day.

Steve traced the faint white mark of an old scar on Tony's hand as held Tony closer.
He gazed softly at the genius with that stupidly beautiful smile that made Tony feel dopey, "Let others take care of you, for once. Let me take care of you. Family, right?"
And god, all Tony wanted to do was that as he rested his head on the warm chest and took comfort in the steady heartbeats.

Steve's eyes didn't leave Tony as the brunet walked directly into his arms, settling in with a 'hello, soldier'. He pliantly handed over his bag to Steve and kissed his lips softly, "Moana is a classy lady. And a badass."
Steve hummed as a grin spread on his lips, "Tell that to Morgan. Except leave the badass part out." He held out a hand for Tony to take.

Steve hummed as his eyes slipped close, their foreheads touching while they still moved under their comforting muted sways.
"Will you draw me a daisy?", Steve's lips quirked up in amusement at Tony's question but he didn't open his eyes. He just hummed again.

It had been thirteen days and counting since his abduction. If you asked him a few years ago, Tony would’ve thought anyone who believed in aliens was completely insane and just spouting off nonsense. But then Loki from Asgard tried to take over the world with his alien army, and Tony fought alongside Thor, another alien of Asgard.
So ‘aliens’ wasn’t exactly a crazy concept anymore. When they came and grabbed Tony and took him off the planet, he knew that getting back to Earth wasn’t going to be easy. Sure, he expected his team to come after him, but…
They replaced him.
And they were really good actors.

“My God.” Steve reached up with one hand, stopping just short of brushing his jaw. “Tony...”
After a mission undercover behind enemy lines, Steve discovers the unwitting collateral damage. He is not pleased.

Tony was a hot mess when he was sick. Prickly, on the surface. But if you could work your way past that – which Steve had managed long ago – he was clingy, whiny. Needy. Essentially, everything he’d grown up believing a Stark shouldn’t be.
