Summary
Patrick takes a step toward the sink, and at the same time, in an act that David will have occasion to think about for many years to come, closes the bathroom door.
“Don't close the—” David tries, but it's too late. He rushes past Patrick—who’s frozen in place and staring at him in confusion—and tries to open it. It won't budge. He jiggles the handle this way and that, but it's no use. “Twyla said not to shut the door,” he spits out. “It’s broken.”
He's trapped in here, with Patrick.

Summary
Adelina enrolls David in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program at the age of 12 to fill the void in David's life that his father has left by jetting off from one city to the next to run his video chain empire. David is matched with a man named Clint.
Years later, David is an English professor at NYU. One evening, in the library, he meets a self-assured business student who changes the course of his life.
This story covers formative points in David's life from 1995 to 2012 where David comes to understand the meaning of 'home' thanks to the two Brewer men. Only thing is, David doesn't know the two most important people in his life are related, much less father and son.

Summary
Right at the beginning of David’s junior year of college, his dad’s business partner literally took the money and ran, and the Roses were left with nothing. Without any other options, his parents moved to some tiny Canadian town his dad apparently bought in the ‘90s and his sister eloped with her boyfriend Stavros.
As his parents could only afford the one motel room and classes were already paid for, David decided to stay where he was. He moved in with his friend Stevie and got a job at the Schitt Family Coffee Roasters south campus location.
David was less than thrilled by this job prospect, but no one else was hiring and rent was a thing now, so he gathered what little self-respect he had left and prepared to meet his new manager, Patrick.
But as it turned out, David had met him once before. Under very, very different circumstances.

Summary
“You’re looking a little lost there sweetheart.”
Patrick startles out of his thoughts, realising that he’s been standing stock still in the middle of the crowd for longer than is advisable.
“Why don’t you come over here and grab some of my shade.”
The voice is coming from under a tent displaying a collection of art works—some black and white, others a vibrant chaotic mix of colours, clashing dramatically with the bright rainbow flag spread over the table at the front of the booth. There’s an acrylic sign with the name “RoseBudd Collective” printed on it to the left; a collection of flyers, stickers and pins are arranged neatly on the right. Standing behind the middle of the table is a man Patrick is almost too intimidated by to look at directly. It’s like staring directly into the sun after a cold, dark winter.
In which Patrick takes an impulsive trip to NYC for Pride and meets David—beautiful, sexy, and clad in leather.
