Barely anyone has heard of Epimetheus, though, and to the degree that Prometheus was lauded for being clever, Epimetheus was taunted for being foolish. Prometheus created man; Epimetheus created animals. He doted on his creations and gave every single last positive trait to the animals until Prometheus and his humanity had none left to use. For Epimetheus, as the god of “hindsight”, also interpreted as “afterthought”, humanity was an afterthought.”
