No One Else Matters

Work Text:

“I don’t understand,” Yoongi said loudly from the two eldests’ room. The rest of the members had just arrived home from practice and the studio just in time to make it for dinner, as per Seokjin’s request. However, they didn’t expect to hear a yelling match between their hyungs.

“Don’t you get it?!” Seokjin yelled in frustration and the others widened their eyes at each other. Hoseok moved ahead of the group and walked towards the slightly open door. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Yoongi said, slightly confused and the others didn’t know whether it would be right to intrude in such a moment.

“I love you the most,” Seokjin said, stress on the last word. “I don’t want to be with anyone else.” Everyone froze. It was like time stopped. They all stared at the door.

“But what about-“

“I don’t care okay? I just, I want you, only you,” he responded, his voice cracked and sounded at the brink of tears. “What about you?” he whispered. “How do you feel?” A few seconds of silence passed.

“Me too,” he said and at this point, Hoseok walked backwards into the wall and sunk down. Jimin and Namjoon couldn’t keep their eyes off the door and Jungkook and Taehyung had their gaze glued to the ground. “I love you the most too,” they heard their hyung whisper. Jungkook clenched his fists and turned around. He practically sprinted out the door, Taehyung and Namjoon at his heels. The door slammed and it made Jimin and Hoseok flinch.

“What was that?” Seokjin said and Jimin struggled to push Hoseok off the floor and straight into the kitchen. “Boys?” the eldest called out softly as he looked out of their room only to find an empty hallway.

“Hyung, what do we do?” Jimin said, panic evident on his face and voice as Hoseok just simply stared at nothing. “Hyung, please,” he said, tears forming. Hoseok shifted his gaze to the younger and widened his eyes.

“Oh God, Jiminie,” he said as he placed. “It’ll be okay, just-just take a deep breath for me okay?” he said shakily as he wiped the tears off Jimin’s face.

“Hoseok-ah? Jimin-ah?” Seokjin called as he walked into the room. He stopped when he noticed the distressed faces on the pair. “What’s wrong?” he said as worriedly as Yoongi walked behind him, confused but just as worried.

“It’s nothing, hyung,” Jimin said but his voice cracked and Seokjin just pulled the other into a hug. Jimin cried harder.

“Yah, what’s wrong? What happened?” Yoongi asked Hoseok who stared at them, the distress still evident in his face. Yoongi placed a hand on the back of the other’s neck and Hoseok turned to him and started to cry. “Hoseok-“ he started but Hoseok just pulled him into a hug as well. Seokjin and Yoongi turned to each other, eyes wide and worried glances thrown.

“Let’s just calm down for a second okay?” Seokjin whispered into Jimin’s ear and rubbed his back. “You’re alright,” he continued until Jimin pushed himself away.

“You can’t do that,” he said though his voice sounding unconvinced of what he was saying. “Just please don’t,” he said before he grabbed Hoseok’s arm and pulled him away from Yoongi. “Don’t,” he said, his voice cracking before he led the both of them into their room and shut the door. Seokjin as frozen in the spot, left not only worried but even more confused.

“Where are the others?” Yoongi said as he grabbed Seokjin’s hand in comfort. They entwined their fingers before Seokjin pulled out his phone to call one of them. It seemed they didn't have to however, as the door slammed open to find Jungkook, his face red and puffy as though he’d been crying, Taehyung behind him, his hands held out slightly as if the youngest would run away at any second. Namjoon stood behind them, his expression blank.

“What the hell happened?” Yoongi said as he stormed towards them, Seokjin in tow. “Why are Jimin and Hoseok crying? What’s wrong?” he asked, panic obvious in his face as he shifted his gaze between the three.

“It’s nothing, hyung,” Taehyung said as he held a straight look and Seokjin furrowed his brows.

“You’re lying,” the eldest said softly and they noticed the other bite his lip.

“Did you guys get into a fight?” Yoongi asked, confused and Taehyung just looked down. “Namjoon-ah?” Namjoon looked up, as if he was a deer caught in headlights. “Yah, can someone answer me?” he said loudly and Jungkook flinched.

“Yoongi,” Seokjin said softly and placed his free hand on his shoulder. Yoongi sighed and tightened his grip on the other's hand. The gesture brought a warm feeling to the other boys' chests, but also one of dread and longing.

"Tired," Jungkook said before he walked away, without another look or word and went straight into his room. Taehyung looked between the pair and Jungkook's room worriedly.

"Tae?" Seokjin said with a pout. Taehyung took a deep breath and mumbled out a sorry before he went after the youngest. He quickly grabbed Namjoon's hand and pulled him after him, not wanting to leave their leader alone with their hyungs.

Seokjin and Yoongi stared after them, hurt evident across their faces.

"Give them time," Yoongi said as he lifted their linked hands and kissed the back of the older's hand. "They'll tell us eventually."

"I'm sorry," Hoseok said as he hugged Jimin from behind.

"What are you apologising for, hyung?" Jimin asked softly. They both stood in the middle of the room in silence. Hoseok had the tendency to blame himself when it came to any relationship problems between any of them. He always had this urge to be the person to fix all their problems and take all of them onto himself. He was the one who helped everyone in the beginning when they first started, he was the one who helped connect everybody and mediate any arguments. Now, he just felt helpless.

"I'm just sorry," he said and Jimin turned around to hug him back. They heard a knock on their door but before they could respond, it opened to reveal Namjoon with Taehyung and Jungkook behind him.

"Hyung," Jungkook started and Hoseok just held out one of his arms and Jungkook rushed into the room. The other two followed after and they were pulled into a tight group hug.

"What are we gonna do?" Taehyung mumbled as he pulled away. Jimin pouted as he followed his actions, took Taehyung's hand and entwined their fingers. The 95 liners opted to sit down on Jimin's bed and stare up at the others.

"There's nothing we can do," Namjoon said with a shrug, "We can't stop them from loving each other," he said as he himself pulled away and sat on Hoseok's bed across the room. Jungkook sighed but refused to move from Hoseok's arms.

"I don't want them to stop loving each other," the youngest said, "I just want them to love us too," he added and his eyes turned glassy.

"They do, Jungkook," Hoseok said in a soothing tone.

"Not as much as each other though," Taehyung said and Jimin nudged his shoulder.

"What do we do?" Jimin asked as he looked between Namjoon and Hoseok for an answer.

"We'll be ok," was all Hoseok said as he rubbed Jungkook's back. "We still have each other, okay?" he said.

The next day was full of silence. Seokjin and Yoongi expected someone to come to their room the night before and explain everything but none did. Instead, they fell asleep in each other's arms for comfort. The next morning they woke up in each other's arms, soft kisses being exchanged.

"Do you think we did something wrong?" Yoongi said and Seokjin paused as he was leaning forward for another kiss.

"I don't know," he responded. Yoongi pulled the older closer and buried his head in his chest.

"I hope they're okay," he mumbled and Seokjin ran his fingers through the other's hair.

"Time, remember?"

Neither really questioned how much time they should give them. They figured the others would just approach them eventually.

Luckily, the day had no busy schedules. It was just practice. So that's what they did. They acted as though nothing had happened the day before and practiced. No one spoke to each other and when their managers asked, Namjoon responded with a simple 'we're sleepy.'

"You okay?" Seokjin said as Yoongi collapsed on the ground, sweating and panting.

"Thirsty," he said in between breaths as he stretched his hand out. Seokjin rolled his eyes as he handed him his water bottle. The pair could hear Hoseok attempting to teach Namjoon a dance move on the other side of the room and see the maknae line resting against the mirror a little further away from them.

"Has anyone said anything?" Yoongi mumbled as he sat up. Seokjin shook his head as he took a seat next to him.

"I'm getting more worried," Seokjin said and the other placed his hand on top of the older's.

"Time, remember?" he said as he handed him the water bottle. Seokjin smiled in return.

"Okay," Hoseok said loudly as he stared at his reflection in the mirror, "Let's go again," he said and Seokjin pretended he didn't notice Namjoon place a hand on the other's shoulder to squeeze it tightly.

They all stood up and got into formation. An hour and a bit passed when suddenly Namjoon missed a step and accidentally kicked Jimin's heel, which caused the latter to fall forward on his knees. Jimin let out a yelp and crouched down while Namjoon fell a little backwards but managed to balance himself out.

"Jimin," Seokjin started worriedly as he crouched next to him. He helped Jimin sit down and carefully rolled up his shorts just above one of his knees to find a small scrape. "Jungkook, grab the first aid kit," he said and Jungkook followed without hesitation. "Does it hurt?"

"It just stings a little," Jimin said with a pout. Jungkook handed the eldest a little box. Seokjin thanked him with a smile and opened it to pull out soothing cream and a bandaid. "Hyung, it's not that bad," he started but let out a pained hiss when Seokjin applied a little of the cream.

"There," Seokjin said as he placed the band aid over it. "All better," he said with a smile before he leaned forward and kissed the top of Jimin's knee. Jimin's eyes teared. "What's wrong? Does it still hurt?"

"I think he just needs to rest, hyung," Taehyung said as he helped Jimin stand up. "C'mon, Jiminie," he said soothingly and the other complied.

"Sorry, Jimin," Namjoon said, ashamedly.

"It's not your fault, Joon," Yoongi said as he patted the other's back, "It happens." Jimin opted to sit in the corner for a bit while Hoseok agreed to do a couple more practice rounds. Seokjin's phone alarm went off during the last few seconds of practice. They let it play out until the song ended and the eldest rushed towards it.

"Is that an alarm?" Taehyung asked as Seokjin unlocked his phone.

"Yeah," he said as he quickly packed up his stuff. "I'll see you guys at home," he continued as he walked around the room to pick up his things, "I left food in the fridge."

"I'll see you guys later," Yoongi said as he followed after Seokjin, a bag in hand.

"Where do you have to go?" Jungkook said in Yoongi's direction.

"Hyung and I have plans," was all he said before they both walked out of the room, leaving the others with mixed emotions.

The rest of the members sulked on the way home. They ate dinner together but the uneasy feelings never left them. It only worsened when they got a message from Seokjin in the group chat.

'Yoongi and I have something to tell you guys. Family meeting when we get home.'

"Do you think they're going to-" Taehyung started but was cut off when Jungkook stood from his chair.

"I'm going to the gym," he said but Jimin stood up and grabbed his arm.

"Kookie," he said sadly, "Stay," he added as he sent him a desperate look. Jungkook sighed before he pulled the other into his arms in an effort to comfort not only Jimin but himself as well.

They didn't know what to do. They simply stayed close to each other and provided any sort of touch they could. Hoseok was sat on the couch with Namjoon's head on his lap from one side and Taehyung nearly dozed off on his shoulder on the other. Jimin sat on the other end of the couch with Jungkook in between his legs, his back against his chest as he played around with Jimin's hands.

They heard the door open and close and everyone tensed. They heard giggling from the hallway and they slowly stood up. They turned back to find Yoongi pressed against the wall, Seokjin's lips against his and smiles across their faces. Seokjin started laughing and Yoongi stared at him with nothing but fondness and admiration in his eyes.

"Thank you," Seokjin said before he wrapped his arms around Yoongi's neck. "Thank you. I love you, I love you, I love you," he said in between kisses.

"I didn't do anything," Yoongi muttered, "But I'll happily take any reward I can get," he said with a grin. Another kiss.

"You did a lot," Seokjin mumbled against his lips.

The other members could only stare in surprise at the display. The pair were acting like they were about to get married. It hurt. A lot. They all stared with confused feelings. They didn't know whether they wanted to be Yoongi or Seokjin or be in between. They longed for both their touches and their kisses and the thought they might never get to experience that again cut right through their hearts. At the same time however, the amount of love that poured between them was evident and it made them feel happy for them.

"When should we talk to the others?" Yoongi said as Seokjin began to move onto Yoongi's neck.

"Right now would be nice," Namjoon said loudly. The pair turned their heads in their direction in surprise.

"Boys!" Seokjin said as he moved away from Yoongi. "We were just looking for you."

"Yeah, looked like it," Jimin muttered and Jungkook nudged his chest.

"We need to talk," he continued. Dread washed over the five of them as they watched the pair hold hands and walk towards them. They all sat on the couch, feet planted to the ground, eyes focused on their own hands. "Yah, look at me when I'm talking to you," he lightly scolded but he didn't expect five pairs of glassy eyes to look back at him. "What's wrong?" he said quickly as they both released each other's hands to rush forward.

Yoongi caressed Hoseok's and Taehyung's face before he moved on to Namjoon while Seokjin cupped both Jimin and Jungkook's chins and looked between them worriedly.

"What happened?" Yoongi said, taken aback by the fact Hoseok had tears streaming down his face.

"We love you both, you know that right?" Namjoon said though his voice cracked.

"Of course we do," Seokjin said as they looked between them all in worry.

"And we know you love us," Hoseok said though it came out shaky.

"We do," Yoongi said in a serious tone.

"But we understand if you don't want us anymore," Jungkook said and the tears in Jungkook's eyes were the tipping point for the others.

"What the hell are you-" Yoongi started but Taehyung cut him off as he rubbed his eyes with his sleeve.

"We heard you," Taehyung said, "We know you both love each other."

"We do," Seokjin said and they both sent each other a look of confusion.

"We still love you," Namjoon said with a forcibly stable voice. "We love you no matter what and even if you happen to love each other a little more than us then we understand." Yoongi and Jin furrowed their brows in worry as they looked between each of the boys whose heads were down and tears were flowing.

"We just love you so much and all we want is for you to be happy, hyungs!" Jimin said loudly before a sob broke out.

"Oh my God, Jimin," Seokjin said as he stood up and rushed over. He cupped Jimin's face with his hands and tried to wipe his tears away.

"What are all of you talking about?!" Yoongi said dumfounded.

"We heard you and Seokjin talk about leaving us," Jungkook stated and inwardly cursed that his voice came out so broken.

"Wait, what the fuck?"

"You were talking about it in your room. You left the door open," Namjoon explained. He tried to keep his composure to calm down Hoseok who at this point was going to run out of tears.

Seokjin froze and Jimin felt slightly panicked at the way Seokjin just stood still and pulled away. Yoongi mimicked his actions and they both stared at the group with blank expressions.

"Hyung?" Taehyung asked and they both blinked.

"You idiots," they said simultaneously and in a second's time they were all being covered in hugs and kisses.

"Oh my God," Seokjin started as he grabbed Jungkook's face and kissed him hard. He then moved to hug Jimin and wipe his tears away before kissing his forehead, "Idiots," he said as he grabbed and kissed Namjoon's hands over and over again before he moved to his lips.

"I'm going to kill you," Yoongi said angrily before he gave Hoseok a deep kiss and then did the same to Taehyung. "I cannot believe," he continued as he then switched places with Seokjin and gave Namjoon a firm kiss on the corner of his mouth. They all were in a state of shock as the other two pulled them into different forms of kisses and intimate touches.

"Wait, wait, wait," Hoseok said as Seokjin peppered his face with kisses. He placed his hands on the eldest’s shoulders and pushed him slightly back. “Not that I’m not enjoying this but-“

“This is definitely not how you break up with someone,” Namjoon said as he stopped Yoongi from giving Jimin another kiss.

“We’re not breaking up with you,” Seokjin said.

“But in the-“

“We were rehearsing for Jin-hyung’s new drama,” Yoongi said. “We’ve been doing it for weeks when you guys were out. Hyung didn’t wanna tell you in case he didn’t get it.”

“Which I did,” Seokjin said with a grin. “Thanks to Yoongi’s help,” he added in a as-a-matter-of-fact tone. Before he continued however, the five boys on the couch practically leaped out of their seats and pushed them both in the middle of a group hug, which caused all of them to end up on the ground.

“You’re so heavy,” Yoongi complained. They all let out a simultaneous ‘don’t care’ which caused the pair buried underneath the pile to smile.

“We love you guys,” Seokjin said softly.

“So much,” Yoongi added and now they were all crying for a completely different reason.

That night, they refused to leave the other two’s sides and ended up pushing their beds together to have, what Taehyung likes to call a ‘bangtan cuddle pile’.

“Congratulations, hyung,” Hoseok mumbled as they all fell into a deep sleep. Seokjin responded with a quiet thank you, content to be in the arms of the people he loved the most.
