The wind whipped through Katsuki’s green robes as he soared above the pitch. There was no sign of the snitch yet, but he did see a large black ball hurdling toward him. Dodging it narrowly, he glared in the direction it came from just in time to see a blur of scarlet, gold, and brown.
He smirked. She had always been a natural flyer.
Just then Katsuki saw a glint out of the corner of his eye. Without hesitating, he blasted toward it.
“SLYTHERIN SEEKER BAKUGOU KATSUKI SUDDENLY CHANGES DIRECTION! COULD IT BE HE’S SPOTTED THE SNITCH?”
Sure enough, Katsuki saw the golden snitch flick its wings and speed away from him.
“AND GRYFFINDOR SEEKER AWASE YOUSETSU ISN’T FAR BEHIND! WHO WILL CATCH IT FIRST?”
“NOT ONLY IS THE SCORE CURRENTLY TIED 20-20, BUT THIS IS THE DECIDING MATCH OF THIS YEAR’S CHAMPIONSHIP! WHOEVER CATCHES THE SNITCH WINS THE CUP!”
“Hizashi, give Midoriya back the microphone.”
While Professor Yamada—or, as the students had dubbed him, “Present Mic”—and Professor Aizawa bickered, Katsuki was focused on catching that damn little ball.
After weaving around Kendou, one of Gryffindor’s chasers, Katsuki found himself neck and neck with Awase. Both boys had an arm extended, so close to the snitch, yet so far.
Suddenly, Awase faltered. It was almost imperceptible, but, being practically pressed up against him, Katsuki felt the change.
He realized that they were flying over a group of Ravenclaws in the stands cheering for Gryffindor. Figures, Katsuki thought to himself.
Awase had had it bad for Yaoyorozu since an apparently life threatening incident the two had experienced together in the Forbidden Forest their fourth year.
No matter the cause, this tiny fumble allowed Katsuki to pull ahead by centimeters. His fingertips just brushed against the snitch’s surface.
This was it.
Bakugou Katsuki, Slytherin quidditch captain, was about to catch the snitch and win the quidditch cup for his house in his final year. Just like he had last year.
Then his broom handle splintered and he lurched to the side.
He tumbled through the air and an outrageous roar rose up from all of the stands.
“JUST WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO CATCH THE SNITCH BAKUGOU IS DEFEATED BY A BLUDGER AND GRYFFINDOR WINS THE GAME!” Both Deku and Aizawa had apparently given up on getting the mic back.
“THANKS TO THE BLUDGER SENT BY HIS CAPTAIN URARAKA OCHAKO, AWASE HAS WON HIS HOUSE THE CUP!”
On his now stable but broken broom, Katsuki watched the Gryffindor team speeding toward each other.
That should be his team.
A shout began to bubble its way up inside of him. But then the Gryffindor team broke apart from their midair hug, and he saw her face.
And his rage cooled to a simmer.
Ochako laughed as she and Awase were lifted into the air by the team, the rest of the house jumping and cheering around them.
They lowered her back down, and she handed the trophy to Awase, who hoisted it in the air, eliciting another cheer from all around the Gryffindor common room.
Slytherin had won the cup the year before, but it was Gryffindor’s turn to take it back! Ochako was unbelievably proud of her team. She subtly wiped away a tear that appeared at the thought of this being her last quidditch match at Hogwarts.
No! This was no time for tears! This was a celebration!
The night wore on, and soon, the real festivities began.
She turned to find Kirishima, her fellow beater, holding out a butterbeer for her, a grin stretched across his bright red face.
Ochako giggled as she took the butterbeer from her drunk friend and toasted with him.
Kirishima slung an arm around her. "You know, I'm really gonna miss having you as my partner."
Ochako felt her heart grow warm. "Who says we can't be partners anymore?"
Kiri looked like he was going to cry, and he had to be dragged away by Kaminari and Mina, who, whenever there was a party, somehow always managed to appear inside of Gryffindor Tower.
Ochako watched her friends and laughed fondly, when a tug on her robes had her turning around once more.
This time, it was a nervous looking second year who said, “sorry, Uraraka, but the Slytherin captain is outside the common room. He said he wanted to talk to you.”
Ochako smiled and handed the second year her drink, leaving him bewildered in addition to nervous, then she climbed out of the portrait hole.
Just as she'd been told, Katsuki was outside waiting for her.
She beamed at him innocently. “Why, Captain Bakugou! To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Katsuki scoffed at her antics. “I’m here to congratulate you.”
“Congratulate me? What for?” She wanted to hear him say it.
He cracked a small grin and, with a step forward, he grabbed her waist. “You know what for, Angel.”
Ochako pretended to think about it. “Hmm…nope, I have no idea,” she quipped, wrapping her arms around his neck.
A smile once again tugged at Katsuki’s lips, and he kissed her.
Sighing in content, Ochako angled her head and deepened the kiss.
He licked at her lips, and she parted them to let him in, but he pulled away teasingly, drawing a whine out of the sweet Gryffindor.
He pressed his forehead against hers and their noses bumped. “Congrats on winning the cup,” he whispered.
She gave him a little peck. “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that. Could you say it again?”
Katsuki chuckled. “Not a chance, Angel Face.” And he captured her lips again.
