The Kim-Jung Pack

Chapter Text

"Guk-ah?" The door to Jeongguk's room creaks open. "Guk-ah, are you awake?" Seokjin shoves the door all the way open and walks over to his bed, pausing for a short moment before grabbing his blankets and yanking them off with a shout. "Guk-ah!"

"Hate." It's the first thing he says, soft and under his breath. "Hate. Hate. Hate."

"What?" Seokjin leans toward him.

"I hate this." He stares up at the elder Alpha, trying to grab the blankets back as warmth seeps out of him. "I hate you, hyung."

"Stop twitter-ing." Is all Seokjin says.

"Huh?" Jeongguk continues trying to reach for the blanket and swipes once more, only to roll out of his bed and land on the flush carpet under it with barely a sound.

"It's bad for you and nothing you say makes sense anymore."

"Wow. Wig snatched." He deadpans. "Go off, queen."

"I'm serious!" Seokjin stomps his foot in annoyance and steps over Jeongguk, who rolls out of his way helpfully but makes no move to actually stand. "It's really fucking annoying."

"Woah," he says, "we pulling out the big boy words now, huh, hyung? Haven't heard you curse in a while."

"I curse." He says, his face scrunching as he tries to recall any recent words. "Sometimes." He adds after a while, dropping one of the blankets in his hand on the edge of the bed and folding another.

"Almost as much as I do?"

"Nowhere near that amount. I like to let people at least think that I-" He finishes folding the blanket in time to slap Jeongguk's hand away from where he was trying to pull the other blanket off the bed and onto the ground with him. "Stop that!"

"But hyung!" He whines, grabbing one of Seokjin's ankles as he busies himself folding the white sheet. He crawls towards him on his elbows, letting his legs drag behind him. "I'm cold! I need warmth! Warmth that only my blankets can provide!"

"No warmth for you, then." He snorts and shoves the blankets to the end of Jeongguk's bed. Jeongguk huffs and yanks on his leg, laughing as his elder loses his balance and his face meets the floor. "Jeongguk..." He growls his name and Jeongguk involuntarily growls in return, snapping at Seokjin's nearby hand. He flies back when Seokjin makes to grab at his neck and then jumps onto him, trying to pin his legs and releasing his scent, trying to swallow up Seokjin's presence in the room. Seokjin shoves him, hard, but he stays, rooted to the spot. Seokjin surges up, eyes gleaming, canines longer than before, perfect for sinking into Jeongguk's skin, suddenly too close his instincts scream and- he falls back, trying to push himself away and whimpering. Seokjin stops short of his neck, glances at his reddening face and lets out a loud laugh.

"Shut up!"

"I haven't- I haven't even-" He stops himself multiple times, unable to get anything out past his snickers. He reaches out for Jeongguk, grabbing his shoulders and pulling him towards him.

"It's not funny!" The young Alpha's voice is getting shrill. Seokjin shoves his head under his chin and clamps down, right under the scent gland on his neck, still shaking with laughter.

"I never said that it was, Guk-ah!" Seokjin draws back, giving the bite mark a quick lick. "But you always look so cute when you get red! I couldn't help laughing, bun!"

"Hate!" He shrieks at the nickname, standing to fling himself right back into bed and bury himself -and his shame- under his blankets. Seokjin wraps himself around him the second he stands, pulling him away from his bed.

"Now, now, Jeongguk, don't you want to know why I woke you up so early?" Seokjin doesn't wait for an answer as he throws his bedroom door open and yanks him forward. "We're going to meet someone new today, and I want you on your best behavior when we do, okay? He's very...important and I don't want you or any of the rest to try anything that might scare him off, alrighty?"

"His name is Jung Hoseok-ssi and we're all going to meet him later today." Jeongguk huffs when Seokjin doesn't go any farther than that.

"Why aren't you giving the others this talk? Jimin and Tae are way more annoying than me." He points at the two on the couch, Jimin half asleep on Taehyung's lap while he skims through something on his phone.

"I'm not annoying, you stupid runt." Jimin mutters quietly, glaring at Jeongguk from Taehyung's lap.

"See, hyung!" Jeongguk whines. "All I did was make an observation and he insulted me! He's the real trouble!"

"Sure he is, Gukkie. That's why you're the one with the new bite mark from Jinnie-hyung." Taehyung drawls, not even bothering to look at him while Jimin throws him a satisfied smirk.

"Shut up!"

"Calm down or I'll mark you again, Guk-ah." Jimin snickers and wraps his legs around Taehyung as the Beta stands and stretches.

“Fine, fine.” Jeongguk mutters.

“Aw, don’t be like that, Gukkie.” Taehyung pats his head as he passes him. “If it’ll make you feel any better Jinnie-hyung was gonna mark us all individually later anyway.”

“Tae, why’d you tell him!”

“I hate when your scents sour. You know that.”

“Don’t bicker, those scents will linger while we’re meeting Hoseok-ssi.” Seokjin reaches out for Jimin and Taehyung gives him over without a word. Seokjin’s canines lengthen again and he hauls Jimin up, scenting him for a moment and sinking his teeth into the side of Jimin's neck.

“Hey, that’s not fair! You didn’t mark him nearly as deep as you did me!”

“It’ll stay with him longer anyways, Guk-ah.” Seokjin lowers the small Beta, licking his teeth clean. “Hey, Tae, where are Joon-ah and Yoongi?”

“Running late, apparently.” He flashes his phone screen, the bright background of their groupchat scattered by short bubbles of texts from the two.

“Today of all days, really?” Taehyung tilts his head back for easy access and Seokjin quickly buries into his nape. “Oh, well, I guess that they can always meet us at the Center. We have to be together when we greet him.”

“I wanted to tell you all together, but I guess Yoongi and Joon-ah will have to figure it out themselves. Hoseok-ssi will be the final mate. He’s an Omega that I’ve been looking into for a while. He’s been waiting for a mate and agreed to join the Pack but nothing’s official yet, so I want you all to be on your best behavior today, okay? He could finally help us become a real Pack.” Seokjin finishes with a look at each of the three. “We’re scheduled to met him at noon, so no bickering or nipping at each other.”

“When’s he going actually coming home with us?” Taehyung pipes up.

“A week, maybe two, if everything goes smoothly.”

“Hyung, you should’ve told me sooner so that I could buy something new or get him a courting gift or something!” Jeongguk snorts at Jimin. “Don’t laugh at me, runt! It’ll take him forever to adjust to any of us, especially with your stupid scent blocking his fucking nose!”

“Maybe, just maybe, you should just wait until we meet him, so that we can get him something we know he’ll love?” Taehyung suggests, curling an arm around Jimin’s waist and resting his head on his shoulder. “We want a good impression after all, Minnie.”

“Shit, you’re right! We need to dress nice too, Tae!” Jimin starts a purposeful march towards their room before whirling back around to grab onto Jeongguk’s wrist and earning a startled yelp. “Don’t start with that, runt. I don’t want you embarrassing the rest of us with that thing you call fashion. Wearing a white shirt and timbs everywhere is not how you dress."

Chapter Text

"Minnie, are you sure-" Taehyung starts, stopping himself as Jimin waves him off.

"Yes, Tae, I know this is gonna take a bit longer than I thought it would, but we can't have the runt embarrassing us like this, can we?" Jimin disappears back into their walk in closet. "If we leave him to do it himself, he'll look all plain and we all know that we can't really afford a fuck up this late in the game, especially with a stupid mistake like this." He walks back out with four very similar looking blue sweaters in his arms and dumps them on their bed. "Which one of these do you think would look best with these jeans I found?" He holds up ripped black pants (a pair that Taehyung is pretty sure he's never seen before).

"Um, the darkest one I guess?" Taehyung says hesitantly, not really able to differentiate them but hoping that the answer'll be good enough.

"Maybe...hey runt, get off your phone dammit!" Jimin shrieks suddenly and Jeongguk stands and puts his phone on the nightstand beside the bed. Taehyung picks it up immediately. "You have to focus! This is important!"

"I was just wondering how much longer you'd talk about me like I wasn't here." Jimin flicks him in the forehead and tosses both the pants and sweater towards him.

"Right now? Wouldn't it be better to wait, Minnie?" Taehyung asks.

"It's fine, it's fine, he can always take it off, besides, I'm sure I've got more of those sweaters somewhere in there."

"I could always just wear one of my-!"

"No." Jimin growls, stepping close to Jeongguk and yanking the sweater over his head. "One of these days I'll throw out all your damn white shirts! You can't keep wearing exactly the same shit!"

"That's literally all you do though!" Jeongguk growls back, before he realizes what he's done and immediately tries to step away from Jimin. "Hey, hyung, wait, I didn't mean to-"

"Too late!" Jimin pounces onto Jeongguk and pushes him onto the bed, straddling him before Taehyung's even finished with processing the accidental challenge.

"Wait, I really am sorry-" Jimin's canines immediately lengthen themselves and he leans forward, eyes flashing. "Taehyungie! Come on! Help me out!" Jeongguk manages to force out.

"Minnie, you can't. Remember what Jinnie-hyung said? It wouldn't be good to mess up right before we have to miss Hoseok-ssi, Minnie." Jimin pauses, teeth barely an inch from Jeongguk's throat. " gotta get off him..."

"Maybe, just maybe, I'll consider it... give me what I want and I'll consider-" Jimin's cut off with a quiet smacking noise and Taehyung looks up from Jeongguk's phone.

"Hey, why'd you-" He's greeted with Jeongguk cupping his hands around Jimin's face and peppering his face with plenty of soft, little kisses, from his eyes to his nose to his cheeks and earning plenty of giggles from the tiny Beta. "Aw!" Taehyung coos loudly, snapping several pictures and even a short video, making sure to send them to his own phone, all as Jimin's giggles grow louder and his face even pinker. "This is so cute! Jinnie-hyung and Yoonie-hyung are gonna love this!"

"No! No, they won't! They're not seeing this!" Jimin pulls away from Jeongguk immediately.

"Aw, but Minnie you two look so cute, see?"

"No! Stop with your false propaganda!" His voice gets higher than either of them had heard in a while. "I'd never look that happy with the runt!"

"Jiminie, you wound me with your words." Jeongguk pouts cutely. "I'm not that ugly, am I?"

"Stop trying to bewitch me again, runt!"

"Minnie." Taehyung says seriously. Jimin looks at him. "Stop lying to yourself like this." Jimin shrieks.

Chapter Text

"Alright next up is...Jung Hoseok! Now calling Jung Hoseok." The Beta sitting behind the desk drawls. She sighs and calls again, raising her voice. "Last call for Jung Hoseok!"

"Oh! Sorry! That's me!" Hoseok scrambles for his bags and shuffles towards the desk, rubbing his eyes in an attempt to wake himself up. "Um, I'm sorry about that, I, uh, was a little tired."

"Uh huh." She turns away from him for a moment, skimming through a small stack of files sitting beside her before finding a dark blue one and handing it over to him. "Here're your papers. They have everything you should need to know about the pack you're being considered for. If there're any problems in there, ring the black buzzer they give you, it should right next to the door."

"Um, problems...?"

"Don't look so scared, Hoseok-ssi, no one would be stupid enough to try anything in a place like this." She rolls her eyes. "It's just for jumpy Omegas, so that you won't complain about the proximity."

"If you say so." Hoseok mutters, just barely loud enough for the woman to hear. She gave him a look but didn't comment on it, instead continuing her explanation.

"Well, your room number's in there, and all the meeting rooms have signs pointing towards them, so you shouldn't have any worries about getting lost." She leans forward and laces her hands together before giving him a small smile. "Enjoy your stay here. Even if your arrangements fall through, this is a very nice Center so it won't be all bad."

"Uh, thanks, I guess? Have a nice day." He gives a small bow and starts toward the small map on the wall before glancing at his phone. 11:30. He's cutting it pretty close. Maybe I should just go to the meeting room now...I don't want their first impression of me to be someone who can't even show up on time... He finds the right hallway on the map and makes his way down the hall to where he's pretty sure the room'll be.

"...soon." Hoseok stops in his tracks at the sound of voices from inside the room. He's trying his best not to panic anyway because it'd be bad panic right now wouldn't it? He knows that there's no real reason for him to be this nervous and that being like this might mess with his scent. Before he can back away from the door, it clicks open and he's greeted with the sight of a rather pretty looking guy. He spends a little too long just looking at his face, though.

"Uh, hi?" The guy opens the door all the way and steps out of the room, slightly bowing. "Do you...need something?"

"Um, I'm Jung Hoseok-"

"Oh!" He startles. "Hoseok-ssi! I'm sorry for not recognizing you, Jin-hyung was hogging the file they gave us about you. I kept trying to see over his shoulder, but he kept say that he 'wasn't done surveying you'." He air quotes that last part and rolls his eyes. "By the way, I'm Jeon Jeongguk." He sticks out his hand and Hoseok shakes it, hoping that his nervousness isn't too obvious in his scent. "I know that they probably gave you a file on all of too, but I'd feel weird to not introduce myself, y'know?"

"It's fine! Really, I just got here so..." He lifts his bag. "As you can see, I haven't even dropped off my stuff in my room yet, let alone skimmed the file yet."

"Uh, you can go do that now if you want?" Jeongguk glances back into the room and Hoseok looks over his shoulder at the five men lounging around the room, none of which seemed to have noticed the open door or him. "They probably won't notice."

"No, I'd rather meet you all at once." Hoseok turns to him. "If that's okay with you?"

"Uh, yeah, it is?" The two of them stand there for a short while longer before something seems to click and Jeongguk suddenly startles. "Oh! I'm sorry!" He backs up into the room, pulling the door open a bit farther. "I'm kinda stupid like that sometimes, don't mind me." Hoseok scurries in and looks at the men in the room, all but one of which have finally noticed his presence and looked to be in varying stages of standing up.

"It's fine, I'm like that too sometimes." His nose scrunches up when he finally catches a whiff of Jeongguk's scent. "Wait a second, you're an Alpha? But you're so...soft."

"Thanks...?" Jeongguk says, looking both confused and amused.

"Who's this, Jeonggukkie?" One of the short men asks and Jeongguk shoots him a very confused look that goes ignored.

"I'm Jung Hoseok, I'm your- well I guess I could packmate? Sorry, if you've all been waiting a while for me. I was a bit late."

"That's fine, really." The one man who hadn't bothered to look up before that smiles at him from across the room. "I had to rush them out to get us here on time. It's nice to finally meet you instead of just being given a file, Hoseok-ssi. I'm Kim Seokjin, Pack Alpha. I hope that we'll be able to create some sort of arrangement quickly."

"Come sit down, this might take a bit of a while to get through."

Chapter Text

"We'd like to make a deal with you, Hoseok-ssi." Seokjin says, patting the spot on the couch beside him.

Hoseok hesitates for a moment before walking across the room to Seokjin. He stops in front of him, bowing and then plopping down beside him, dropping his bags and nudging them under the couch.

"It's nice to meet you, but...a deal? What kind of deal are we talking about?"

"Well, we need you, for legal reasons, honestly." Seokjin shrugs. "And I'm assuming you need us for something too if you're looking for a Pack?" He tilts his head slowly. "Am I wrong or...?"

"Ah, no, you're not. I realize that this is probably really rude sounding, but I'm going to need you, all of you," He glances around at the men lounging in the seats around them, all watching him talk intently. "...for your money. Living alone isn't possible for me anymore. I'm kind of oversharing, but I just need you guys to know what you're getting yourselves into." He pauses and turns back to Seokjin. "I mean, it's not like I don't work or anything. I do, you know, have a job, it's just that- well, there's only so much money an Omega can make themselves you know, what with the fact that I have to take, like a week off, every couple of months, so, uh, yeah, I'm gonna need like, some help, money-wise I mean."

"Really?" The other short man pipes up, sitting up a bit straighter when he realizes that he has Hoseok's attention. "You need help with your money and your way to get that help is to sign yourself off to six other people?"

"Basically, yeah?" Hoseok says after a beat of silence, shaken a bit by how deep his voice is, especially for somebody so small. "I mean, obviously, I'm not honestly expecting to get included in your Pack's bond, but I figured that this would be the safest way. Finding a job is hard, and finding one after graduating from school with the stupidest degree ever isn't really possible? Like at all, and I'm tired of it. I asked around, too, and even my sister, she was having a harder time than me, but she recommended this, and I like to think that Jiwoo isn't-"

"We get it, Hoseok-ssi, thank you." Seokjin cuts him off, laughing and Hoseok shuts his mouth, hoping he didn't talk for too long. "I think we're going to have to talk a bit more before 'signing ourselves off for life', like our darling Yoongichi said."

"Hyung." 'Yoongichi' says, his tone warning. "Shut it, please."

"Hey, real quick, can I ask you something?" Seokjin gestures for him to go ahead.

"Are you an Alpha, too?" He turns to the other man. "I haven't read the files yet."

"Ah, sorry, I shouldn't have forgotten to introduce you to everybody." He gestures for them to stand and they all rise obediently. "Yoongichi, over here," Hoseok watches him scoff but say nothing, "is my sub-Alpha, but no, to answer your question, he's not an Alpha. Guk-ah." Jeongguk perks up. "Now, Guk-ah, he's our lil baby Alpha." Seokjin coos at him. "He's also the only other Alpha in our pack, everybody else is a Beta. Jimin and Taehyungie are basically our love sick babies and are basically always marking or scent marking each other, so I suggest you take this opportunity to scent their actual scents, because you'll probably never get a chance like this again." The short one lets out a snort and the taller drapes himself over him, sticking his face in the crook of his neck and Hoseok feels like Seokjin's probably more right than he'll ever know. "Now that you're done stealing all of Hoseok-ssi's attention...this tree over here is Joonie!"

"It's Namjoon, actually." The tall Beta mutters, loud enough for everyone to hear him.

"He's my original trophy husband!" Seokjin says proudly.

"Jin-hyung!" Jeongguk shrieks.

"I forget how funny you can be sometimes, hyung." Yoongi says, shaking his head.

"Hyung- what the fuck-?" Namjoon sputters out, turning bright red and Jimin and Taehyung seem to have stopped functioning, with Taehyung stopping his nuzzling into Jimin's hair.

"Great choice, wasn't he?" Seokjin says, turning to Hoseok with a proud smile, ignoring the way that everyone else seemed to be have somehow been broken by that one sentence.

"Yes, very...pretty?" He offers uncertainly, not sure of what else to say and smiling nervously when Seokjin gives him a satisfied grin.

Chapter Text

"Yoongi-hyung." Namjoon's voice is quiet, muffled by the pillows he's surrounded himself in. "Yoongi-hyung, are you awake?"

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not." Yoongi jokes, opening one eye slightly. Namjoon huffs. "What do you want, Joon-ah?"

"Your's buzzing." Yoongi opens his other eye. "It's in my blankets."

"Well, could you give me the phone? Maybe so that I can turn it off?"

"I would but...I don't want to bother looking for it..." Namjoon whines and shifts, pulling one of the thicker blankets closer to him and pouting. "Can't you get it for me, hyung?"

"But hyung! It's your phone, come on!" He rolls closer to Yoongi. "Please? I'll give you plenty of kisses!"

"I'm not Jimin. You can't use kisses as currency with me." Yoongi holds his arms out as Namjoon continues to roll towards him, wrapping his arms and legs around him and the cocoon of sheets when he gets close enough.

"I'll hold your hand all day!" Namjoon pleads.

"You make a very interesting offer." Yoongi's using his commanding Alpha voice and Namjoon sort of wilts before he continues. "Maybe I'll take you up on it." Namjoon perks up. "If, and only if, you throw in being the little spoon when we cuddle."

"...How long would I have to be the little spoon for?"

"I don't know." He hums. "Forever, perhaps?"

"No thanks." Namjoon scoffs. "I'll just accept the buzzing as a new part of my life, I suppose. Oh! It's stopped."  Namjoon mutters, mostly to himself before settling back down against Yoongi, allowing him to curl his limbs around him slightly tighter.

"Joon-ah," Yoongi calls after a short while. "Move."

"I have to pee."

"You're on my arm."

"And, hyung?"

"I can't move if you don't move." He smiles at Namjoon, trying to placate him.

"And I couldn't sleep with your phone buzzing under my thigh." Namjoon grins. "So, I'm just making us even."

"That doesn't sound very even to me, Joon."

"It is, though." Namjoon insists, scrunching up his nose as though he was about to sneeze and shaking his head roughly, as though it'll stop the sneeze from escaping, which, surprisingly, succeeds. Yoongi lets out a snort of laughter at the surprisingly adorable face Namjoon makes. "What are you laughing about?"

"You're cute." Yoongi says, smushing his face into the blankets around Namjoon.

"No, I'm not." Namjoon mutters.

"You're right, Joonie, you're not cute. You're the cutest." Yoongi says with a straight face and tone like he's making an observation at work, taking plenty of joy out of the way Namjoon blushes.

"Shut up!" Namjoon rolls off Yoongi's arm and Yoongi flings himself off the bed.

"Thanks for letting me up, Joonie." He coos and Namjoon glares at him. "The cutest, bestest boy."

"I'm gonna hit you one day, hyung." Namjoon sits up and starts shimmying off the layers of comfort he'd wrapped himself in.

"You wouldn't."

"Oh, yeah? What would stop me?"

"The fact that you love me." Yoongi puckers up his lips and blows him a kiss as he walks into the bathroom attached to the room's side.

"I'd love you more if you weren't acting so much like Jin-hyung. It's weird and I don't like it."

"You're really trying to get him to kill you, aren't you, Joon?"

"He can't be angry at me for something he can't hear."

"I wouldn't put it past him to somehow just know this kinda shit, Joon, and I don't think you should either."

"Besides," Namjoon swings his legs off the bed and stands to stretch as Yoongi opens the bathroom door. "Wouldn't you protect me, as my mate, Yoongi-hyung?"

"From Jin-hyung?" He laughs, striding over to Namjoon. "Fuck no, nothing's worth standing in his way."

"Not even me?" Namjoon pouts. Yoongi grabs his face in his hands and pulls him down to eye level, planting a kiss on his nose.

"Not even you, love."

"That's mean, hyung."

Chapter Text

"-the fuck didn't you answer your phone, Yoongi?" Seokjin screeches into Namjoon's ear as soon as he answers the phone. "I could have been dead or dying, you-!"

"Uh, Jin-hyung?" Namjoon interrupts him quietly, dragging the phone away from his ear and placing it on the countertop.

"Joonie?" Seokjin's voice goes all soft and quiet, the same way it always does when he talks to any of the younger pack members, which is literally anyone other than Yoongi, hyung, Namjoon often tries to remind him (not that he listens). "Joonie, could you give the phone to Yoongi? I want to talk to him."

"Hyung's cooking right now, hyung." Namjoon says, glancing up at Yoongi moving around the kitchen and presses the speaker button. "He can hear you though, hyung."

"Yoongi! You'd better be listening, because I have no plans to repeat myself any time soon."

"I'm listening, I'm listening." He takes out a pan and a few knives.

"Good." Seokjin purrs, the sound coming out of the phone with a lower pitch than usual. "Anyway, since the rest of you can't seem to be bothered to even go visit Hoseok-ssi, I've decided to set up a system! You're all going to get to know him as well as possible, because you're going to go on dates with him."

"You mean, like, court him, hyung?" Namjoon frowns. "I know we'll probably have to at least create a temporary bond with him to be recognized legally but..." Namjoon trails off, unsure of how to word his thoughts.

"We don't want to genuinely court him, hyung." Yoongi interjects, gathering vegetables and placing them on the counter. "He seems nice, but I don't really want to truly bond with someone we've only just met." He pauses. "I don't think Joon wants that either."

"You don't have to like him, Yoongi-yah. You just have to get close to him. This is the fastest way to do so." Seokjin says patiently, continuing when he hears nothing other than the quiet shuffling of Yoongi's movements. "You heard what he said the other day, loves, he needs this, the same way we do. He'll most likely want to speed this up too."

"Hyung, are you trying to Alpha voice me?" Yoongi laughs. "Over the phone?"

"...Maybe I am..." Seokjin says it after a while. "Did it work?"

"Not on me." Yoongi laughs again, looking at Namjoon, who'd screwed his eyes shut and seemed to be leaning on the wall for support. "Poor Joon looks a bit out of it though."

"H-hyung." Namjoon stutters. "Co-could y-you...?"

"Poor baby." Yoongi coos. "Jin-hyung, let go, would you?"

"I'm sorry, Joonie." Seokjin sighs through the phone and Namjoon visibly relaxes, pushing himself off the wall and up. "I didn't mean to."

"Please start warning me when you do that."

"You'll get used to it eventually, Joon." Yoongi mutters, pulling oven mitts over his hands before grabbing a pan and tipping it into another. "It's annoying at first, I know."

"Hyung, you know you don't have to do all that." Namjoon points at the three different pans sitting on the oven.

"I do know, Joon. It's just better to be-"

"Safe than sorry." Seokjin and Namjoon say in unison. "We know," Seokjin continues, "you don't have to say it every time you make anything."

"Well, excuse me for being cautious."

"Anyways, loves, I was hoping that maybe you could help me decide who's going to court Hoseok-ssi?"

"Hyung, I really don't know..."

"Come on now, Joonie. Don't you want to be official? Just think about it." Seokjin's voice is getting soft and Namjoon's melting, he knows it. "And Yoongi, the reason why I needed you was because I needed your advice about who should visit Hoseok-ssi and when."

"You sound like you're going to go through with this whether or not we agree to do it." Yoongi's tampered the stove down and Namjoon stands to get two plates from the cabinet.

"That's exactly what I'll do and you know it, love." Seokjin hums. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to take the brats on a walk, I'll call or text you the details later." He hangs up without much flourish and both Namjoon and Yoongi are surprised by the sudden ring tone.

"I wonder what's bothering him."

"Hyung?" Namjoon holds both plates out for Yoongi to push the omelet bits onto them.

"Ignore me, Joon, it's probably nothing important."

"If he'd actually needed something else, he would've told you, hyung!" Namjoon bumps Yoongi's shoulder with his own as he sets the plates down. "Don't look so sulky, Yoongi-hyung, I'm sure it's no big deal."

"If you say so." He grumbles. "If it is a big deal, I'm blaming you for lulling me into a false sense of security."

"'Kay, hyung." Namjoon says, leaning down giving Yoongi a peck on the lips. "Now relax and sit down! We should eat before we forget the plates are there." He pauses and blinks thoughtfully. "Again."

Chapter Text

"This was a stupid idea, Joon." It's the first thing Jimin says as he opens the door and he spots Namjoon walking toward the house with Hoseok and Namjoon can't help but cringe at how blunt he is. Walking beside him is Jung Hoseok, a potential future mate and Jimin still seems to have no filter to his thoughts. Hoseok follows him with his head ducked down and a nervous hand repeatedly smoothing down his navy skirt.

"Listen, if I'm really not supposed to be here, I can just leave, Namjoon-ssi." He starts picking at invisible specks of dust on the skirt as he walks up the short stack of stairs that leads to their door. "I don't want to be a bother."

"It's fine, Hoseok-ssi! Really, it is!" Namjoon assures him, but Hoseok doesn't look very certain and keeps glancing between him and Jimin, who's still standing in the open doorway. "Right, Jimin?"

"I have no problems with you being here, it's just that...Namjoon told us it was just going to be us so I'm not really...presentable right now." Jimin levels Namjoon with a glare. "I would've dressed up a bit more if I was told you'd be joining us..."

"I don't know if this counts for anything, but I think you look nice just like this." He gives him an unsure, but genuine smile. "I don't need to be dressed up for, you know."

"Still, it would be silly of me to not dress to impress, wouldn't it?" Jimin asks, moving out of their way at a gentle nudge from Namjoon. The two walk in and toe off their shoes. "We're technically courting you, after all, Hoseok-ssi. It'd be weird to not try to look my best all the time, wouldn't it?" Jimin pushes the door shut a bit too fast and Hoseok tries not to flinch at the resulting slam.

"Courting? I guess we are." Hoseok says thoughtfully. "I should probably start buying you guys little trinkets or something, huh?"

"You don't need to get us anything, Hoseok-ssi, we don't mind really." Namjoon mutters.

"We ought to be fair about all of this, I think. Just because we're doing it out of necessity doesn't mean that I can't try my best to woo you all."

"'Woo'?" Jimin echoes with a laugh. "You talk like Jin-hyung does. God, you're just as ancient as those two aren't you, Hoseok-ssi?"

"I'm pretty sure that I'm at least a year younger than Yoongi-ssi." Hoseok counters halfheartedly. "He was born in March, 1991, right?" Jimin nods. "Well, I was born in February of '94, so, yeah." Jimin blinks at him and turns to make his way back into the house before he speaks again.

"I'm gonna go get ready, I'll be back with the other two in a second." Jimin looks back at him and Hoseok nods without much thought as Jimin walks away.

"'94? I'm from September of that year." Namjoon looks him up and down. "I thought you were younger than me."

"You didn't read my file?" Hoseok blurts, wincing as soon as he hears himself. "I'm sorry, that sounded-"

"It's fine if you're upset, you know. From the sound of it, you read all of our info already?"

"Yeah, I did."

"Well there goes my original plan for today." Namjoon huffs, slouching against the wall. "I'd hoped for us to spend a while getting to know each other over lunch."

"If you want I could, maybe, pretend not to know anything about you guys?" Hoseok folds his hands together behind him. "Like, I can't act for shit, though, so I don't know if that what be better than me already knowing."

"It's all fine, really-" Namjoon pauses. "What should I call you?"

"What do you mean?"

"Informally, I mean? Like, do you prefer hyung or noona?"

"Oh, I'm fine with anything really. I mean personally I think that the entire idea of having to use honorifics is pretty stupid, considering that they all depend on both your subgender and your primary gender." Hoseok pauses, expecting some kind of response, but, receiving none, he continues on. "Usually though, I just tell people to call me whatever they're comfortable with, so I'm fine with noona. My little sister usually calls me unnie, so..."

"I'll go with noona, then. I don't know exactly what everyone'll prefer but I think I'll just stick with the basics."

"Go right ahead." Hoseok smiles softly and Namjoon almost physically feels his heart shatter. "Namjoon-ah."

Chapter Text

Jimin tries his best not to let himself feel too annoyed over Namjoon's stupid idea and he almost succeeds, but walking into his and Taehyung's room, and being greeted by the sight of a still barely dressed Jeongguk is enough to send him over the edge.

"What the hell are you doing, runt?" Jimin screeches. "Why aren't you dressed yet?"

"Relax, will you? It's not like we're going anywhere special. We're just going out with Namjoon-hyung."

"Normally, I'd rip your fucking face off for that, but..." Jimin sighs, trying to compose himself as quickly as he can. "I wouldn't want to alarm our guest while he's here."

"Guest? Who? Who's here?"

"Namjoon seems to have decided that he's the new Pack dumbass, but I'm not even going to bother riling myself up over that right now, we've got bigger things to worry about. Hoseok-ssi is here."

"I'm sorry?" Jeongguk chokes the question out with a strangled laugh. "Did you just say-?"

"Yes, I did, runt." Jimin says, wrinkling his nose and grabbing the door handle as he readies to leave the room. "Now, hurry up and put on something nice, dammit."

"Wait, you mean, like...choose something? By myself?" Jeongguk asks, obviously confused.

"What else could I possibly mean, dumbass?" Jimin rolls his eyes. "I'm not doing everything for you." With that, he pulls the door shut behind him, being careful to keep from slamming the door shut, knowing that the sound would easily travel through the house and to the ears of the Omega downstairs. Pausing for a moment, he stops to take a breath to calm himself so that he doesn't alarm Taehyung as soon as the other Beta sees him. Following his faint scent to one of the bathrooms is easy and Jimin swings the door open without so much as a warning, smiling when he sees Taehyung begin to put on some lip balm.

"Thank god for you, Kim Taehyung!" Jimin mutters softly, walking around him to wrap his arms around his back. "I swear, it's like you and Jin-hyung are the only ones I can count on in this damn house."

"What did Gukkie do now?" Taehyung laughs, staring at Jimin's reflection.

"The damn runt isn't even dressed yet! Today's really important, Tae, we don't need him to fuck it up."

"Important?" Taehyung says, turning slighty so that he can see Jimin out of the corner of his eye. "No offence to Joonie-hyung, but-"

"He invited Hoseok-ssi over."

"What? Is he here right now?" Jimin nods. "Seriously?"

"They're downstairs, waiting for the three of us to get finished getting ready. I told him and Namjoon that I'd be back in a second but..."

"Jinnie-hyung's gonna kill Joonie-hyung the second he hears about this." Taehyung laughs, shaking his head.

"That's gonna be a really big headache to deal with." Jimin mutters. Taehyung turns to face him fully and pats his head.

"Aw, come on now, Minnie, there's no need for you to be so down! I'm sure it won't be that terrible of a day. That Hoseok guy seemed pretty nice to me."

"It's not him I'm worried about." Jimin huffs as a haphazardly dressed Jeongguk suddenly appears in the bathroom doorway. "It's him."

"Hey, hyung, can I use your vanilla lotion?"

"Sure, it's in the third cabinet of Jinnie-hyung's bathroom."

"Thanks, hyung!" Jeongguk calls, already turning towards Seokjin's room. "Fuck!"

"What's wrong, Gukkie?"

"Just stubbed my toe, I'm good though!" Jeongguk calls back, obviously in more than a little pain.

"See?" Jimin hisses. "There's nothing for him to even stub his toe on! It's barely ten steps from here to Jin-hyung's door!"

"I'm sure it'll be fine, Minnie." Taehyung turns back to the mirror, grabbing a comb. "Him being clumsy isn't going to be that big of a problem."

"Says you. Wait, what the hell are you doing to your hair!?" Jimin shrieks, diving for the comb. "You're going to ruin it if you do that! Let me fix it!"

Chapter Text

After nearly half an hour of waiting awkwardly while listening to the muffled voices from upstairs with Namjoon in the pack's living room, Hoseok is finally rewarded for his patience by the three youngest members of the pack scrambling down the stairs. All three look so well dressed that Hoseok almost feels underdressed in comparison, especially when he catches a glimpse at the amount of rings that Jimin is wearing on both hands. Suddenly his Pokémon tee looks way more faded than normal.

"Jimin-ssi, I hope you didn't dress up for me! I'm really not worth all this effort." Hoseok tries to joke, but Jimin just looks at him like he said something wrong.

"Hoseok-ssi, I already told you that I plan dress to impress you." Jimin cocks his head and Hoseok nearly screams when he notices just how expensive the hoop earrings that Jimin's wearing look. "Is it too much though? I could always change, if you really want me to?"

"No, no, it's fine, it's just that Namjoon-ah said that we were just going to have a quick picnic? I highly doubt that you'd be able to keep all your jewelry clean like that." His attention goes to Jeongguk, who snorts as soon as he's stopped talking.

"For Jimin-hyung, this is relatively tame, Hoseok-ssi. He always dresses to show off."

"Oh really? If you always dress this well then I guess I should be trying to get some pointers from you! My sister thinks I dress far too plainly."

"You don't look plain, I think." Jimin looks him up and down. "This is a cute outfit and the fact that it matches is honestly better than what I've come to expect from this lot."

"Thanks, Jimin-ssi!"

"Alright, Minnie, now that you've finished buttering him up, the rest of us would like a chance to talk to him. This isn't all about you." Taehyung pipes up suddenly and Hoseok turns to him, feeling slightly guilty for not addressing him up to now. Taehyung takes notice of this and smiles at him. "I'm pretty sure this our first time actually talking, but I look forward to getting to know you today, Hoseok-ssi."

"Me too."

"Everyone," Namjoon calls, "the car's here."

"The car'" Hoseok repeats, feeling like he's missed something. "What about those already in your driveway? Aren't we going in one of those?"

"We would, but, well..." Namjoon trails off.

"None of us can drive, Hoseok-ssi." Taehyung picks up from there. "Minnie and I haven't been able to pass at all and Jeonggukkie hasn't had a chance to try yet."

"That and Jin-hyung and Yoongi-hyung don't really trust any of us alone, especially not in the 'death machines' that are cars." Namjoon says. "Either way, one of our drivers will be taking us to the picnic site! Oh, don't look like that, noona, he's more than happy to take us and the overpay he's getting from today."

"Wait-" Hoseok says, his mind screeching to a halt. "One of your drivers?"

"Yeah?" Taehyung chuckles. "It's not like it'll take more than one of them to get us anywhere."

"Yeah, yeah, that's definitely what I was trying to point out." Hoseok mutters.

"Anyways, Hyun-hyung's outside so! We should get going, we don't wanna hold him up or be late, y'know!"

"Late to a picnic? What are we really doing, Joon?" Jimin asks, narrowing his eyes.

"A picnic!" Jimin stares at him even more intently. "And, maybe, a surprise, for later...." Namjoon huffs out.

"Say no more, Joonie-hyung, let's go, guys!" Taehyung whines, head hooked on Jeongguk's shoulder and rubbing his face against his. "C'mon! This sounds like a nice day already and we haven't even started it!"

Chapter Text

Jeongguk's ninety nine percent sure that Hoseok's uncomfortable, what with the way that he was curling up on himself in the side of their car and hadn't spoken much at all over the course of their now almost 20 minute long car ride. Granted, Taehyung and Jimin's loud chattering was taking up any chance he had to cut into their conversation, but still, he knew that if he had been stuck in a car with people that he was trying to court for this long and hadn't said a word that he would have eventually collasped in on his own awkwardness.

"Uh, um, Hoseok-ssi?" Jeongguk winces as soon as Hoseok turns to look at him, realizing that he doesn't actually have anything to say him. "I was wondering if, if you would mind if I spoke to you, uh, informally?"

"I don't mind, not at all. I mean, not as long as that means that I can call you Jeongguk-ah?"

"Sure, sure, that's fine, um, noona? I'm gonna call you noona, I think, but also I was wondering what you do?"

"Oh, nothing fancy really, at least not compared to Seokjin-ssi or Yoongi-ssi." Hoseok laughs. "I work as a dance instructor and, when I'm lucky, as a choreographer. So far I haven't actually been able to get someone to accept a full choreo of my own for, like, and idol group or something's nice to just be able to work like this anyways, so..." Hoseok trails off with a smile. "Oh, that reminds me, Jeongguk-ah," he pauses for a moment to glance over Jeongguk's shoulder at the now quiet Jimin and Taehyung, who glance at him before turning back and muttering something softly to one another. "I've already glanced over all of the files that I was given on you all and, while I know that you are a student, it doesn't say where?"

"Uh, Seoul Nation University..."

"Really? I'm sure that your parents must be happy about that." Hoseok says, tapping his thigh. "My father's always wanted my sister and I to go there, but neither of us have ever been very studious people. What do you major in?"

"I'm undecided as of now." Jeongguk pauses. "But I'll probably end up going into the international business major or business marketing."

"So you must have a knack for math or desk work, then?"

"I'd like to think that I'm not terrible with office work but I know I'm not that great at it. I'm just going through with it for my parents and...and for Jin-hyung, too."

"Seokjin-ssi's file did mention that he's one of the chairmen at a Lee-Miyauchi Tech Group, but I'm not quite sure what that company even does. I tried to search it up on Naver but there weren't any results other than some links to sound equipment parts."

"That's exactly what the company does." Jimin huffs from his perch in Taehyung's lap. "Jin-hyung's and Jeonggukkie's families, along with a few others, run the company together. They produce a large array of sounding equipment for everything from speakers to phones." He says this all proudly, sounding smug. "Why, they've even begun to work on creating some of their own pieces and codes recently. It's all very lucrative."

"That explains why you were the first Pack that I was sent to meet."

"What do you mean?"

"After I'd met you six, I was introduced to a Pack of ten members and, afterwards, a Pack of four, so I was wondering if the introductions had any real order. It must've been by net worth order, I think, because-" Hoseok stops himself and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Because of what, noona?" Jeongguk prompts.

"Well, this is gonna sound really bad, but, uh, well...because I may, or may not have, uh, said that I'd wanted the most well off Pack currently available?" He winces visibly. "Wow, that sounded bad."

"No, it didn't, noona, listen, if I was an Omega in need of some cash and I wanted a Pack, I know for a fact that I would've requested the wealthiest that a Center could possibly find for me." Jimin huffs. "That's what literally anyone would do. In fact, I'm pretty sure that that's how my Omega mother got mated to my other three mothers."

"Really?" Hoseok laughs, deciding to ignore the way that Jimin's suddenly slipped into talking to him informally.

"Yes, really, noona, that's what she's like." Jimin insists. "If we court for long enough, I'm sure that you'll meet her and when you do, you'll understand what I mean. She's always been a pretty spoiled person. She's nice, though, at her core. I know that she'd already love you. She's been bugging us to get an Omega for ages now."

"I'd hope that's not the only reason." Hoseok jokes.

"The fact that you're pretty is also a factor, noona." Jimin says without missing a beat.

"I didn't take you to be such a flirt, Jimin-ah." Hoseok huffs, trying to fight back his blush.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg with him." Jeongguk chimes in.

"Hush!" Jimin whisper-yells to Jeongguk, swatting at him. "It's not like they could fit every little thing about us into our files, y'know."

"That's what today's date is for, Hoseok-ssi." Taehyung says, butting into the conversation eagerly. "We ought to do our best to get to know as much about each other as we can, I think."

"You should just call me noona at this point, then. If we're going to get to know each other, we should talk a least a bit more informally."

"Alright then, noona, we'll try our very best to get to know you today!" Taehyung says, dipping his head in a quick gesture of respect that results in him jostling Jimin in his lap. "Sorry about that, Minnie."

"'S fine, that whole little speech was really cute of you." Jimin muses softly, pushing his face into Taehyung's neck. "And also, you started pushing out some really nice pheromones just now, so I'm a bit too chill right now to be upset."

"Oh, that's what this scent is?"

"Yeah, that's me, sorry, noona, I always forget that it can hurt. Are you okay?"

"It's pretty mild, so I'm okay." He pauses. "The only thing I feel is an itchy nose."

"I'm used to little random pheromone bursts because I work with teenagers a lot." He reassures. "Sometimes I even work with kids and they do it all the time, my nose is kinda used to it." This seems to be enough because Taehyung lets an affirming hum as they all lapse back into silence, this one far more comfortable than the one they'd held before.
