Chapter Text

Thankfully, Sypha and Alucard were alright and unscathed. The second he saw his sister, the dhampire immediately rushed to her and began checking her for injuries.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Alucard asks his sister frantically as he turns her head to look for any signs of injury. "Stardust please say something."

"I'm alright, no need to fuss over me Adrian!” Stela groans as she swats his hands away. “I’m just a bit sore from getting thrown into that door, that's all.”

“Is your spine alright?”

“It’s fine! Stop fussing!”

“You know, it’s rather adorable to see your brother fuss over you like that.” Sypha laughs as the three head for the broken door where Trevor was waiting, surrounded by the debris of their battle with the bull.

“If you want him to fuss over you, that’s fine by me.” Stela says with a shrug and kicks at some broken wood. "What a mess. This is going to be a pain to scrub out. Have you ever cleaned dried blood up?"

"Never have, and I probably never will." Trevor responds as he picks up his sword to wiped the blood off and replaces it in its sheath. “God the whole place smells like shit."

"And it's going to get worse in the summer if we leave the bodies in here. Have you ever smelled a rotting carcass in the summer heat before?"

"Again, no- actually I did but it was a human body."

“How are we going to get up top?” Alucard asks loudly, interrupting their conversation.

“The staircase is a wreck, we’re not getting up there without ropes. Start looking.” Trevor responds and glances up at the now blood red sky. “Damn...this is gonna be hard.”

“You think we can use the tapestries as ropes?” Stela suggests as she points to a nearby wall with a tattered tapestry bearing the Belmont crest. “I didn’t see anything rope-like when we were walking down here earlier.”

Before anyone could say anything, a sheet of ice formed under their feet. The three looked to Sypha in surprise, who gave them a smile. “We don’t need ropes.” She says as the sheet of ice began to rise. “Hold on, here we go.”

The ice began to rise slowly, raising them towards the broken ceiling of the library as they were casted in a bright red light. Stella looks up to see that the moon was glowing a bright bloody red, as if someone had dropped it in bright red paint. She remembered her father calling this sort of moon a “blood moon”, though she couldn’t recall how it would turn red. Was it a lunar eclipse?

They soon reached the top and Sypha stopped the ice, allowing them to hop off onto the ground and walk away from it. Sypha then waved her canes and sent the ice flying out of the hole, landing it several yards away in the woods. STell and Trevor look to her in surprise and she gave them a shrug.

“Well I didn’t want to leave there to melt and ruin all your beautiful books.” She explains and Stella lets out a laugh. “What?”

“Nothing, I just wasn’t expecting you to actually fling it out of the hole.” Her friend explains. “Well more water for the plants I guess.”

“It seems damp enough out here as it is.” Alucard says lifting his foot from the soaked ground.

“Oh, but look!” Sypha gasps and points behind them. Standing several yards from where they stood was the tall looming castle.

“You did it Sypha.” Trevor says casting the Speaker a smile.

“Yes but...seeing it is something else entirely.” Sypha says before turning to him with a grin. “I’m pretty good, right?”

“You’re the best.” Trevor agrees before turning to the two Tepes children. "Alucard, Stela, are you ready?"

"No." Alucard admits. "But let's put an end to this anyway. Stardust?"

"I'm with you on that." Stela responds as she grips her sword tightly. “Let’s end this, now.”

The four walk towards the entrance of the castle, the doors open wide and the steps soaked with puddles of water. Inside they could hear the sounds of a battle and when they walked in, they found soldiers of Dracula and some well dressed vampires fighting with soldiers dressed in silver and black armor. They all stopped, their attention on the three humans and the dhampire standing in the doorway of the castle, hands on their weapons poised and ready for a fight.

“Stella and I terrify them, Sypha disorientates them, Alucard goes over the top and we support him.” Trevor orders as he pulls out his Morning Star whip.

“Let’s try to make it upstairs alive, Dracula is most likely in his study.” Stella says as she grips her spear as her brother removes his sword from it’s sheath and floats it to poise over his shoulder.

“Begin.” He whispers before they rush forward towards the vampires that were now rushing towards them.

Stela jabs her spear into the neck of a soldier and yanks it out to jump back in time before it explodes and she repeats the process with two others, before a spear wielding soldier runs at her. She immediately blocks the attack before jumping back as a wall of fire erupts near her, separating her and Trevor from the soldiers before her brother leaps right through it and begins attacking several of the soldiers on his own.

“Ready for part two?” Trevor asks as he unsheathed his sword and Sypha creates several icicles. “You go for the soldiers, we’ll take on the fancy dressed ones.

“Those are his generals.” Stela corrects him as Sypha brings down the fire wall. “Just be careful!”

As soon as the wall had been extinguished, several vampires ran at them. Sypha threw several icicles at them before the three separated to fight. Stella managed to stab another soldier, and another before all soldiers were now lying dead on the floor. All were left now were some of the generals, but she remembered seeing another before the fight. Where was-

“Adiren!” SHe yells when she sees mist suddenly surrounding her brother. Alucard seemed unphased however as the mist took the shape of general Cho, an old vampire Stela had seen around the castle a few times when she was younger. Two other generals were already going at her brother before Sypha froze a now reforming Cho into a block of ice and destroyed it. Two generals left. Trevor and Alucard were now dealing with the last two generals, the dhampire slicing the head off of one before Trevor yanks down the other from the air and Sypha burns them.

“And that’s done.” Trevor says as they regather before they hear a loud roar and turn to see several Night Creatures coming from the balcony. “And I spoke too soon.”

---

Once the Night Creatures had been dealt with, the four were now on their way towards the throne room. Fresh bodies littered the floor and they could hear fighting going on. Stela looks up at the stairs to see an unfamiliar man looking down on them before her brother launches his sword at him, only for the man to block it with the body of a vampire.

“Who is that?” Stela asks as the man disappears.

“Probably a forgemaster, how else would father have so many NIght Creatures?” Alucard responds as they run for the stairs. “Definitely a human, vampires have never produced one before.”

“I’ve never seen one in the castle before, he must have gotten him to come work for him during the one year wait he gave us to flee. And that makes it one more person that stands between us and our father.”

The four ran up the stairs until they came to a hallway, finding another dead vampire on the floor. Alucard motioned for them to be quiet and pointed towards an opened door where they heard the sound of glass falling before he and his sister walk towards it. Dracula stood in his study, alone and the foregmaster nowhere in sight.

Well one less person to fight with. Stela thought as she and her brother entered the study. He looks so tired.

“Father.” Alucard says, his tone cold.

“Children.” Dracula responds, his tone equally as cold.

“This war is over.” Stella states, gripping her spear tightly.

“Because you say so?” Dracula asks, giving them a sneer.

"It ends in the name of our mother." Alucard retorts as his free hand takes Stela’s.

"It endures in the name of your mother."

"No, it ends in her name." Stela retorts as she grips her brother's hand. "She never would have wanted this."

“I gave you two the chance to leave, to avoid getting wiped out along with the rest of these pitiful humans. Yet one year later I am hearing that you two joined forces with a Speaker and a Belmont- a Belmont of all people.”

“And what you’ve heard is true. And we are going to stop you.”

“I told you before, we won’t let you do it.” Alucard says as he grips his sister’s hand, which she grips back. “We grieve with you, but we won’t let you commit genocide.”

“Neither of you could stop me before.” Dracula sneers.

“We were alone before.” Stela points out as she hears footsteps behind them as Trevor and Sypa step in to stand at their sides. “We’re not alone anymore.”

And with that, her brother rushed right into their father and slammed him right into the wall, knocking books off the shelves and the portrait of their mother falling off the wall. But much to her horror, instead of seeing her father fall dead to the floor, he suddenly rose, pushing back against Alucard and gripping the end of the sword with his fingers. Her brother yanks his sword back and swings at him a few times, missing with each swing before Dracula grabs the sword and slammed his fist into his face, knocking him right into the fireplace with a cry of pain.

“Adrien!” Stella yells in alarm before turning back to her father in anger, who was now looking at her and her friends. Before she could even move, her father lunges forward, ignoring her and Sypha and knocking Trevor out of the room. The two women rush out, Sypha blasting fire at the vampire’s back while Stela rushes to Trevor to help him up. They hear a cry of pain and look up to see Dracula knock Sypha right to the floor, the shoulder of her robe torn and blood seeping out from her arm.

“Sypha!” They both scream before rushing at Dracula. Trevor manages to get to the vampire first and grabs him by the robes to turn him around before throwing several punches

“You must be the Belmont.” Dracula says before striking Trevor in the gut and grabbing him by the neck. “The end of your line.”

“NO!” Stela yells and jabs her spear through his free arm before a familiar sword stabs right through the other and through his wrist. “Adrien!”

“Hold steady!” Her brother yells as Sypha rushes in, blasting fire right in Dracula’s face. The two hold on tightly as their father was forced to drop Trevor, Sypha still blasting fire in his face before she was forced to stop. This gave Dracula the chance to hit the three of them, sending Syoah and Stela flying towards one way and Alucard another. The two women managed to get to their knees, dazed from the hit but still able to stand.

“Sypha you’re bleeding!” Stela gasps, pointing at her friend’s injury as she yanked away the ruined cloth.

“I know, hold on.” Sypha gasps in pain as she pressed her hand now enclosed in fire against the wound, sealing the cuts shut. “Go help Trevor, if you can!”

Trevor seemed to be doing fine as he jabbed at Dracula with the broken staff he had taken from that Night Creature from earlier, before he was thrown right at the two women and sent flying down the hall.

“This is going poorly for us, isn’t it?” Trevor groans as they try to stand.

“Adrien has him distracted, we have to keep him pinned in place.” Stela says and glances at the whip attached to Trevor’s hip. “Trevor, your Morning Star...you think it can kill him as easily as those soldiers and generals?”

The hunter nods, removing and unraveling it before jumping to his feet. “Let’s hope so.”

As the smoke cleared, Trevor swung his whip towards Dracula, striking him right in the chest and sending him flying. The smoke soon cleared, revealing the vampire still standing before he fell to his knees.

“The Morning Star whip, well played Belmont.” Dracula says as he rises to his feet. “But I am no ordinary vampire to be killed by your human magics. I am Vlad Dracula Tepes, and I have had enough!”

Dracula flug his arms wide as a large ball of fire appeared before him, and it began to roll towards the four. Sypha ran forward and threw her arms out, slowing  the ball down but not stopping it entirely before she started to slip. Stela ran forward and braced her hands against Sypha in an attempt to keep her from slipping back before feeling someone lean against her own back. She couldn’t help but smile when she saw it was Trevor bracing against her, using his weight to keep them both from slipping. The fire ball was still not stopping, before Alucard leaps in front of them and rushed forward to keep it in place. The three humans brace themselves as they struggle to stay on their feet before Sypha falls forward and they hear a loud crash.

“They’re gone!” The speaker gasps and they look up to find Dracula and Alucard gone and a large hole in the wall.

“Where did they go?” Trevor asks as they pick themselves off the floor and grabs his sword. “Stela, you know this place best, where are they?”

“I don’t know! They could be in the storage room or in one of the libraries for all I know and we can’t follow them through without falling through a floor.” STela responds as she grabs her spear, the end now broken off. “Come on, let’s just try and follow through the halls and hope we can cross paths with them, the prophecy said it needed you both to help him defeat our father.”

“But we need you to help as well!” Sypha points out as they ran. “You may not be in it, but you can still help us end this war!”

“I hope so. Up the stairs!”

They could hear the fighting as they ran, still unable to pin their location until they came to a hallway Stela suddenly stopped in. The fighting was louder now, and she could hear her father. She rushes forward, ignoring her friends cries and hurries to one of the rooms and finds her brother lying against a bokeh bed and her father standing in the doorway.

“It’s your room…” She hears him say softly.

Stela remembered this old room, the one she was brought to when she was first brought into this castle as a child. She remembered the hours she’d spent in here with her brother, learning to read and write, playing with the stuffed toys he would share with her, and sleep in when he would drag her from her room when he got scared. She even remembered at one point they had a telescope set up in here to try and watch the stars and see if they could catch the sight of comets or shooting stars.

“My boy...I’m...I’m killing my boy.” She hears her father say as he walks towards one of the windows where there was a portrait of the family. “I’m killing our boy. We painted this room, we made these toys. It’s our boy Lisa…”

Stela quietly walks towards her father, her hand slipping to her belt where one of her knives was waiting. Out of the corner of her eye she could see her brother ripping off the broken part of a bedpost from his ruined bed and walking towards him as well.

“Your greatest gifts to me...and I’m killing them.” They hear him say as he turns to face them. “I was already dead.”

They walked toward him, and he just stood there with a dead look in his eyes, already knowing what they were going to do. Dracula gasps in pain as they drive the stake and knife into his chest, blood seeping from the wound and down their arms.

“My children...” Dracula wheezed.

"Father?" Alucard whispers.

“I’m sorry…” Stela whispers, her eyes welling up with tears before they drove their weapons deeper into his chest.

Stela didn’t even want to look when she heard the sound of something melting, but when she did, she saw her father’s ashened and partially melted face looking back at her and reaching towards her and her brother. She jerks back as one of his hands reaches towards her face before she hears the sound of a sword and her father’s head falls from his shoulders to the floor.

“Alucard, Stela, step back.” She hears Sypha say. “Let me finish this.”

Stela steps back until she felt the bed behind her and feels herself fall to her knees. There was a painful ache in her side she hadn’t noticed until now, but tried to ignore it as she watched Sypha burn the body before them. Black smoke began to rise from the burning body before it enveloped the room and broke right out of the window and out of the door. The force knocked the others to the floor before the room cleared, leaving nothing but a burned rug and a single iron ring in the middle of it.

“Is that it?” Sypha asks as they sat up.

“Did we do it?” Trevor asks.

“We did.” Alucard answers and Stela lets out a sigh of relief before wincing in pain and touched her side. “Stela?”

Stela grimaces as she looks up at her worried brother and back down to her side to remove her hand, which was now covered in blood- her blood.

"Oh shit…" She muttered as she tried to recover her wound with her bloody hand.

"Stela!" Sypha cried out when she too saw the blood.

"I'm fine, just a little scratch." She assured them and winced. "Oh God this hurts…"

The others were right at her side when she doubled over in pain, only to be caught by Trevor as Alucard and Sypha tried to stop the bleeding with their own hands.

"We have to stop the bleeding!" Trevor yelled as he carefully lifted Stela off the floor and looked at Alucard in panic. “You have medical supplies right?! Your mother was a doctor, she had to have at least had something for this!”

“I’m fine!” Stela groans and winces in pain. “Trevor put me down!”

“You’re hurt! You need medical attention!” Trevor argues as he carefully sets her on the floor. “Your brother is going to get some supplies, we’re going to patch you up and -”

“I’m not dying damn it! It’s not that deep!” Stela snaps and grimaces. “I just need to clean it and bandage it, that’s all.”

“Here, we’ll clean it with this until your brother returns.” Sypha offers as she tore at the sleeve of her cloak and gently wiped the wound. “How did you get hit?”

“Probably during the fight with father, I didn’t even notice it until now.” Stela admits before her brother came back with a large wooden box in his arms. “You know Trevor, I never took you for someone who panics at the sight of a small wound on someone.”

“You were bleeding, and that was a lot of blood, can you blame me?” The hunter retorts, earning a laugh from Stela as her brother and Sypha tend to her wound.

“You really do care, and here I thought you were a heartless old soul.”

“Nice to see you showing others how much you care about them.” Sypha teases, gently elbowing her companion. “And don’t worry, it’s not as deep or bad as we thought. She’ll live.”

Once her wound was patched up, Alucard helped his sister to her feet and looked over at the burned rug with a saddened expression. “We...we killed our father.” He says softly as his sister rests her head against his shoulder.

“It had to be done.” Stela assures him. “We couldn’t save him, but now he’s reunited with our mother and his soul is at rest now.”

“You ended a war against mankind, don’t get weepy about it.” Trevor states as he and Sypha get to their feet.

“Trevor is right, you saved countless lives.” Sypha says, giving them a small smile. “But it’s alright to mourn the man too.”

“He died a long time ago.” Alucard says, giving them a small smile.

The four of them walk out of the room in silence, Stela still leaning against her brother for support before Trevor stops to carefully pick her up, insisting it’ll be better if she wasn’t walking and brushing against her brother and messing with her injury. Stela had protested to this, but eventually gave in. The four eventually make their way to the main entrance, the bodies of the vampires killed during the fight untouched by the soft rays of sunlight coming through the doors. Trevor finally sets Stela down, turning away from her and the others before he feels a small hand grab his. He turns to see Stela holding it, her other hand being held by Sypha, who was holding Alucard’s hand. They smile at each other before walking forward towards the doors, the rays of the morning sun warming them as they stand on the top steps of the castle. Their work was finally done, the world was safe - for now.
