Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 -

It was the 2208 class 1-A of UA high's fourth day of their first year of highschool. At the moment, the class and Aizawa were on a bus going somewhere on campus. Bakugo didn’t know where exactly, since Aizawa decided to keep them in the dark.

Bakugo and the rest of the class had learned by the time Aizawa didn’t actually expel the person in last place for the quirk apprehension test—a dude with purple hair, who’s name Bakugo couldn’t care to remember (It was mineta)—and justified it by saying it was a “logical ruse” that Aizawa was a secretive person who enjoyed tricking them.

Out of sheer boredom, Bakugo listened to the people talking on the bus.

The only one currently speaking was the frog-faced girl in his class. “I generally say what’s on my mind, Shinsou,” Bakugo heard her say.

“Yeah, Tsuyu?” the guy she addressed replied.

“I don’t think you should let your quirk bring you down, what the other people say doesn’t matter.”

Oh yeah… This dude...

Whatever his name was

(apparently Shinsou, according to frog face)

he had something going on with his quirk.

People gave him a hard time because it was a stereotypically evil one

Bakugo remembered because it was similar to i̷͔͍͈͓͔̹̬͊͛̓͂̃̈́̀͋́̈́͋z̴̢̮̩̱̪̹̠͈͒̋͑̈̈̆͋̕u̶͖̳̤̅̈̈́̊̉͛͋͌k̶̢̲̜̃̏̓́̃́̌ͅų̴̖̮̗̰̼̦̤́̇̄̈͛͌́

SHUT UP!

“Ah… ” It was purple hair—

(Shinsou)

—continuing his conversation with frogface. The reply, though it was quiet, helped pull Bakugo out of his soon-to-be-spiralling thoughts.

It was still difficult for Bakugo to think about…

Someone…

Bakugo was already done with their stupid conversation, but kept listening because he really needed to stop his mind from straying to that someone . Bakugo had been thinking about that person more than ever, ever since he began attending UA…

Shitty hair (the cinnamon roll bnha fans know as Kirishima) was the next one to talk, “Yeah, Tsuyu! Shinsou can’t be a villain, he’s training to be a hero! Sure, it’s not too flashy, but that goes for my own quirk as well! My hardening’s good in a fight, but it’s real boring.”

“You’re already good enough with that to go pro, though,” Shinsou replied.

“Pro! But don’t forget that heroes have to worry about popular appeal! My navel laser is both strong and cool. Perfect for a pro!” This time it was that sparkly dude.

Next up to speak was raccoon eyes, “As long as you don’t blow up your own stomach! You wanna talk strong and cool? That’d be Todoroki and Bakugo.”

Bakugo ‘tsked’, he wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone.

Actually, Bakugo was never in the mood to talk to anyone.

“But Bakugo’s so unhinged he’d never be popular,” frog face said, nonchalantly.

DID THAT BITCH REALLY JUST SAY THAT?!?!

“WHAT’D YOU SAY, FROG FACE?!”

“See.” She said, like a fucking all-knowing asshole.

“We’ve only barely started socializing and already you’ve made it abundantly clear to us the unpleasantness of your steamed turd of a personality,” some fucking dunce face adds.

“Yeah, okay, Mr. Vocabulary. How about I pound you?!”

While Bakugo sat there, seethin, some other extras—a fucking ponytail know-it-all, round cheeks and frog face—added their own remarks.

“What a vulgar conversation.”

“I think it’s fun!”

“I don’t think your mouth could get any fouler, Bakugo”

Bakugo was more than grateful when Aizawa interrupted their shenanigans to announce that they were at the place, “We’re here. Look sharp, now…”

Bakugo also swore he could hear all of his classmates internally sigh in relief with Aizawa’s words, and just about no time passed until people were jumping out of their seats to see where their excursion was.

“WHOAAAAA!! IS THIS UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN!?!?” Several of his classmates exclaimed while walking through the entrance of the huge building.

A person in an astronaut-esque suit began talking, “There’s the flood zone, landslide zone, conflagration zone… etc. Every disaster and accident you can imagine! I built this facility myself. I call it… The ‘Unforeseen Simulation Joint’!!”

Round cheeks cried out and began spilling her knowledge of the person in the suit, “It’s the space hero, thirteen! She’s a gentleman who does her best work in rescue scenarios! Ooh I LOVE thirteen!”

Bakugo wasn’t moving, but hearing round cheeks fangirl over a hero so like ţ̶͕̳̺͛̌̀h̷̺̼͎̠̗͛̓a̷̧͖̔ṫ̷͇̿͛ ̴̥̯̬̟̙̽̄̈́̓̉p̶̻̑e̷̼̪̮̦͚͓̫̅ṙ̴̜̣̫͖̠͛̇͝s̶͍̪͈͍̳͋̋o̵̝̖̳̺̍̿͗ͅn̵̹̭̑̿͆͗͐ stopped him in his tracks.

Fuck her

Acting like him

She doesn’t have the right to do that

That’s what he’d do

I don’t have the right to be mad, either

I’m why he never did that again

And now he’s…

( dead )

missing

( yeah, dead )

Bakugo took a deep breath and looked to the side. There, he saw Aizawa talking to Thirteen. He strained his ears to listen… but he still couldn’t make out what they were saying. All Bakugo could see was thirteen holding up three fingers, whatever that meant.

Aizawa turned away from Thirteen to face the class, “So be it, let’s get started,” he stated, gruffly.

“But before we do, I have one or two points… or three… or four…” Thirteen interrupted, then continued, “As I’m sure many of you are aware, my quirk is called Black Hole. It can suck in and tear apart anything.”

“And you’ve used it to save people in all sorts of disasters!” It was round cheeks, adding to her previous fangirling .

It’s so like h̷̨̢̝͖̦͉̜̙̫͍̪͉͐ͅi̶̱̩͙͖̟̗͐̃̽̊̎̆͑̂̚͝m̸̧̨̛̰͉̞͚̺̲̱̪̪͙͚͊͗̎͛̈͂͠ͅ…

“Indeed… However, my power could easily kill. I’ve no doubt there are some of you with similar abilities. In our super-powered society, the use of quirks is heavily restricted and monitored.

Yeah, right.

“Heavily restricted”

Fucking assholes used their quirks on h̵͇͇̊̓̿͛ï̸͖̏̌̈́m̸̖̅̑̑͋̄ all the time

I used my quirk on ḩ̶̤̟̥̥͛̑͆̕i̵̹̬͙̜̲͈̇͑͊͂̒̏̓͑̕͝m̸̛͉̈́̆͠ all the time

Bakugo stayed tuned out of Thirteen’s whole speech until everyone was cheering and commending her “awesome” words. At that thought, he quietly tsked. It was just a repeat of what he’s learned his whole life.

As Bakugou’s mom would put it, “Your quirk can be dangerous, you’ve gotta be careful, ya lil’ shit.”

Bakugo wasn’t planning on listening to Aizawa, either, but he turned to look at what could possibly have distracted his homeroom teacher once he heard Aizawa suddenly stop talking. Aizawa seemed like one who valued efficiency and who was not easily distracted.

Where Aizawa was looking was a weird purple mist expanding. Out of it stepped out people of various sizes with what looked like a variety of quirks.

Bakugo smiled.

( we’re gonna fight people? )

Thank god! I NEED that right now.

“Huddle up and don’t move!”

Wait…

What?

“Thirteen!! Protect the students!”

“What the heck’s that? More battle robots? Like during the entrance exam?” Shitty hair asked.

“NO! Don’t Move! Those are villains!!”

Maybe Bakugo should’ve been more terrified, villains are extremely dangerous, especially ones with powerful quirks, but Aizawa’s words just fueled his excitement.

He’d be able to take out all his stress on the shitty villains and have it all be justified in the name of self defense. What’s not to be excited about?

Bakugo was right in his assumption that fighting the villains would prove a very effective distraction. But there was no way for him to know all of his past would come crashing down on him. And, despite all the years, he’s wasn’t ready for it.

But all that stuff happens after the USJ attack.

We won’t have to focus on that for now… :)

Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 -

Stepping into the giant building that was USJ, Aizawa ignored all of the exclaims his students made to make a beeline towards Thirteen. He noticed that All Might wasn’t in the vicinity while doing so.

Is he late??

“Thirteen. Where’s All Might? I thought he was meeting us here,” He asked her.

“About that, senpai…” She put up three fingers, representing the number of hours All Might could use his quirk, “He just about reached his limit during his morning commute, he’s resting in the break room.”

Aizawa was far too tired for this shit, “The height of irrationality,” He said, annoyed.

With the security breach yesterday and a lack of All Might we should be on guard… Just in case.

Stupid All Might

( shitty teacher )

He sighed sharply and turned away from Thirteen to face the students, “So be it. Let’s get started.”

Aizawa let Thirteen introduce the importance and the dangers of today’s lessons while he tuned out. In his mind, he ran over what they’d have to do in an emergency situation here.

They’re a strong and independent group of kids…

Kaminari could contact the school’s staff, Momo and Iida have good judgement…

He continued doing that for the remainder of Thirteen’s speech, identifying who’d work best at what and who would be the students he’d trust with making plans.

After Thirteen finished, which was marked by hoots and hollers from the cheery students of the class, Aizawa was supposed to elaborate on what the class would be doing today.

“Great. First of—”

But a small ‘whoosh’ sound coming from the fountain made him stop.

Looking over, he saw a purple mist expanding, it looked like a small black hole manifesting.

A hand reached out of the murky blackness and grasped the edge of the mist.

A man stepped out of the portal, he wore nothing of significance other than various hands that were attached to his body. Behind that man stepped out dozens more people with a variety of quirks.

It was at that observation that set his previous worries in stone.

These were villains.

He and his students were under a villain attack.

Aizawa engaged his capture gear and readied himself for the oncoming battle. He noted that the villains had someone with a quirk that can create portals before shouting instructions to the kids, “Huddle up and don’t move!”

From behind him he heard Kirishima, “What the heck’s that? More battle robots? Like during the entrance exam?”

Aizawa needed his kids to understand the dangerous situation they were in.

“NO!  Don’t Move! Those are villains!!”

The villains filled out of the portal and into a semi-circle while Aizawa listened to the protests of his students.

“Villains?! No way!!”

“What villains would be dumb enough to sneak into a school for heroes?”

UGH! This is stupid

( smart kids being stupid )

That shit doesn’t make a goddamn difference

“It doesn’t matter why or how right now! We’re under a villain attack and you guys need to get out of here!”

“Sensei! Aren’t there intruder sensors?”

Of course they must have fucking done something about that because this is an actual coordinated attack you stupid stupid student.

“They must be jamming it with one of their quirks!” He briefly turned away from the villains towards his students, “Thirteen! Kaminari! You guys try to contact the school”

“Got it!” The two responded with no protests.

Aizawa prepared to jump down to the villain’s level, “I need you guys to get to safety, and do NOT engage!”

“Wait, sensei! You can’t beat all of those guys!!” One of his students cried out, which Aizawa answered without looking to see who they were.

“No good hero is a one trick pony,” Aizawa said and leaped down to meet the villains without any more speculation.

Aizawa’s mind didn’t have any more time to be annoyed about how long it took for him to get down because of his students delaying him. As of now, he had other, more important things to worry about.

On his way down, Aizawa heard the villains communicating with one another.

“Ranged squad! Let’s move!”

“Our intel said it should just be Thirteen and All Might! So who’s this?!”

“Dunno, but he’s coming at us all alone.”

“A dead fool then!”

Aizawa used his erasure to cancel out the first guy’s quirk.

“Huh?! I can’t shoot...”

He used flung out his capture tape at the first two villains, trapping them and then slamming them into each other.

“You dumbasses!! He can cancel out quirks just by looking at ya, that’s Eraserhead!”

“He cancels quirks? Heh heh heh! Let’s see if that trick works against us heteromorphic types!!” exclaimed a villain that looked like cooling magma.

Aizawa flung himself at the rock villain,“No. It doesn’t,” Aizawa said. He punched the guy square in the face, making the villain fly backwards, ”Only against operative or transformative types,” Aizawa wrapped the end of his weapon around the villain’s foot and threw him into the air. ”However,” Aizawa dodged a different villain’s attack, "Statistically you guys tend to shine… In close quarters combat,” he grabbed the capture tape and redirected the villain he had sent flying. Aizawa let his grip on the villain’s foot with the capture weapon release and the villain landed on top of the second one, ”Which is why I’ve got countermeasures for you.”

Looking around, there were no villains too close to be a difficulty. His eyes landed on a villain who's looks matched the appearance of the portal made earlier, only for the villain to disappear in front of his eyes. In his peripheral vision he spotted that same purple mist appear just as the one in front of him vanished.

It was up where his students were.

Dammit!

In the blink of an eye!

He may be the deadliest one here!!

A movement to his right took his mind away from the worries of his students.

Gotta keep myself alive

The man who was charging at Aizawa was the villain who was the first to emerge from the portal. The one with multiple hands littering his body.

“So you’re the boss?” Aizawa said, shooting out his capture weapon at the villain. The tape never made it around the boss, instead the villain grabbed it to stop its advances. Aizawa tched and ran towards the boss, yanking his weapon at the same time to make the villain jerk forward. He crouched down and quickly sprang up again, elbowing the villain in the abdomen.

“It’s hard to tell when you’re scampering around, but… ”

The villain hadn’t been phased at all by Aizawa’s attack. What Aizawa expected was for the boss to go flying backwards from the force of the hit, but instead the villain had caught his elbow with his hand and was now holding it with an iron grip.

“There are moments when your hair falls in front of your eyes,” Aizawa had been keeping his erasure activated on the man to stop him from using whatever his quirk may have been on him, and at that moment his quirk usage reached its limit.

The sleeve in contact with the man’s hand began to crumble away, “... every time you finish a given move… And your max duration’s getting shorter and shorter.” A sharp pain blossomed from Aizawa’s elbow, branching out and flaring in pain as it did.

It’s disintegrating!!

The villain leaned in uncomfortably close to Aizawa, to the point where the pro could see his crazed eye from behind the hand clasped onto his face, “Don’t overdo it now, Eraserhead.”

Aizawa swung at the villain’s head with his left hand and jumped back, focusing on fighting more than he did on the pain in his elbow.

As soon as he landed, he ducked down to dodge the attacks of two villains who’d gotten close when the boss had him occupied. Aizawa wrapped his weapons around the villain on the left and swung him around into the other one, simultaneously knocking them both out.

While Aizawa did that, he could hear the boss talking, “Your quirk... It’s not good in long group battles, huh?” The villain pushed himself up from the ground, “This is different from your usual work, yeah? You specialize in quick sneak attacks.” He stood up and glared at Aizawa, “Yet you jumped right into this fight. Hoping to make the kids feel safe? So cool. So cool.” A chill ran up Aizawa’s spine as a black mass crept up from behind him, “By the way, hero… ”

The mass turned out to be a huge monster the same size as All Might in his muscle form. It had a row of unnaturally large teeth while his eyes bulged out of it’s sockets and it’s brain was visible. It’s hand, which was larger than Aizawa’s head, reached out for him.

“I’m not the boss here.”

It was very fast, but right before the monster’s hand got to Aizawa, he saw another thing coming towards him from behind the monster. And right after that, that something rammed into him, knocking Aizawa out of the monsters’ reach.

Whatever had hit him made him fly backwards. Aizawa rolled with it and quickly got back up onto his feet, after that he looked towards the huge monster and used his erasure on it. Who knew what kind of quirk a beast like that could have?

It was then that he noticed the strange position the monster was in. And after that it was to Aizawa’s horror that the monster had someone pinned underneath it.

The place Aizawa would’ve been right now if that person hadn’t intervened.

The monster had the person’s right arm in its grasp. It was revoltingly bent and twisted in the monster’s hands.

The monster grabbed the person’s other arm and with a quick movement snapped it.

He snapped the arm like a twig…!

Looking at any part of the body should be enough to nullify him!

That means that’s it’s base strength.

It’s easily as strong as all might!!

Aizawa noticed the size of the arm the monster was holding.

It was so small…

So small and they didn’t even make a sound

A monster as strong as All Might was hurting someone as small as that…

Aizawa’s stomach lurched.

Was that one of his students?

The body language of the villain with the disintegrating quirk showed that he was triumphant, until he noticed that whoever was pinned down by the monster wasn’t Aizawa.

“What. The. Fuck.” The tone of rage that came from the hand villain even made Aizawa uneasy. The villain was practically shaking with rage as he approached the monster and the other person.

I need to do something!!

( mightbeastudentmightbeastudentsosmalltheyresosmall )

( wouldn’tbeabletolivewithmyselfifitwasoneofmystudents )

Aizawa shifted his stance and darted towards the hand villain. The villain didn’t react, all he did in response was say: “Nomu,” and the monster, as fast as a bullet, was immediately blocking Aizawa’s path.

Aizawa moved to maneuver himself around the monster, jumping up and wrapping the capture tape around the monster’s hand. But the monster was both stronger and faster, so the monster had grabbed Aizawa’s arm and had the pro hero subdued faster than he could react.

The monster roughly threw Aizawa into a kneeling position on the floor, facing the other villains and the kid, one of its large hands holding his right arm with a deathly grip while the other did the same on his left shoulder

“Stay in your lane, Eraser head.” the villain snarled, then turned to the person previously held down by the monster, who had now gotten up. “I have something personal to attend to,” the calm rage that the villain's voice held was considerably worse than his other tone.

Aizawa looked at the unknown person.

Oh my god it’s just a kid

( not one of my kids )

The person—no kid —the kid wore a plain white mask and had no defining features. Their attire was all black and they had a very small stature. The only real noticeable thing about the kid were his arms. Their arms hung limply at his sides, resting in obviously unnatural angles. Yet, the kid was in a defensive stance, even with his horrible injuries…

Aizawa saw the kid’s head turn towards him, then at the monster.

Right.

He saved me from the monster

A kid

The kid’s head snapped back to the villain, who was advancing on him.

“What you’ve decided to go and play hero now?!” the villain said as he took a step forward, the kid taking a step back in return, ”Hoping that you’ll still have a chance at a normal life?!” Aizawa tried resisting against the monster’s grip, only for the crushing pressure on his arm to increase. “Ha! As if!” Aizawa saw the purple mist from earlier appear behind the kid, and went to cry out as a warning. But the monster clamped down on his arm and his warning turning into a cry of pain. Aizawa watched through blurry vision as a portal formed behind the kid, “I’ll make you regret ever doing that.” The kid went to move, but a hand shot out of the portal and pulled the kid into it.

The kid reappeared next to the villain, it was he who reached through the portal to grab the kid.

When the villain finally had the kid in his grasp all of his rage was let loose. Before the kid could react, the villain slammed them to the floor, “YOU STUPID. FUCKING. BITCH! I DON’T KNOW WHY I HAVEN’T KILLED YOU ALREADY!” With all of his force, the villain stomped on the kid’s solar plex, making the kid tense and begin curling in one himself. Aizawa increased his struggling, he couldn’t just sit around and watch a kid get hurt that badly.

The villain looked at Aizawa, his foot still situated on the boys chest. Aizawa watched the villain take a few deep breaths as the pro continued to struggle against the monster.

“How about this, Eraserhead” the villain said, calmly. The villain’s foot moved from the kid’s chest to hover over the fingers of the kid’s right arm, “For every time you struggle…  THE MORE PAIN THIS BITCH FEELS!” His foot landed down on the hand with a sickening crunch. The kid’s head was thrown back and even with them wearing a mask, Aizawa knew they were in a silent scream.

Aizawa eyes widened and he felt queasy as he immediately forced himself to stop moving.

The purple mist villain appeared in front of the boss.

“Shigaraki… ”

“Kurogiri… Why are you here...” the villain— Shigaraki — said.

“There were some students I couldn’t warp away. And one of them escaped,” The other villain said cautiously.

“Oh? Huh… ” Shigaraki reflexively began scratching his neck, “Huhhh.” His scratching intensified, “Kurogiri. You… I’d turn you to dust if you weren’t our ticket out of here. We won’t stand a chance against dozens of pros. It’s game over, man. Game over for now.”

A surge of rage flowed through Aizawa’s veins.

These villains are damned cowards

The villains stayed for a moment until the mist villain— Kurogiri —broke it, “What did he do?” he said, referring to the kid on the ground.

“Traitor,” Shigaraki hissed, “Take him. We’ll kill him later.”

—Aizawa’s thoughts were cut short as a loud bang resonated throughout the building.

Aizawa and the villain’s heads whipped over to the source of the noise, which was at the entrance of USJ.

“Fear not… I am here… ” Standing at the top landing was All Might, booming his catchphrase with his deep voice to everyone. The wave of relief that washed over Aizawa (and likely the other students) was indescribable. The only worrying thing was the absence of All Might reassuring smile.

It was only a pained scowl that adorned his face.

And rightfully so.

Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 -

The whole class watched as Aizawa jumped down the huge stairs to face off the villains, and a beat after, the ones who had received instructions from Aizawa did what they were told.

“Thirteen! Something’s interfering with the signal! I can’t contact anyone!” the dunce face from earlier shouted.

Bakugo didn’t know what anyone else was doing, he was fixated on Aizawa’s fight with the villains. His hands popped with small explosions as he fought the urge to jump down there and fight alongside his teacher. The reason Bakugo fought that urge was because it was ego-threatenly obvious that Aizawa was a much better fighter than he. Bakugo would only slow Aizawa down if he engaged.

He clenched his fists. Open and close. Open and close.

( At least now I'm not thinking of ì̸͍͈̄͆̅͝z̶͇̝̚ȗ̷͔̳̲͖͍͐ḵ̶͖̪̃̎͐ủ̴̥̀͗̍ )

SHUTTHEFUCKUP

Fortunate, if you considered that it pulled Bakugo away from his thoughts and unfortunate when you realise that it was a villain attacking them, the mist villain appeared in front of Thirteen, using his quirk to encase all of class 1-A in a circle.

Bakugo saw Thirteen about to use her quirk on the villain; he knew it was dangerous to interfere, to interrupt the pro. Truth was, Bakugo didn’t really care.

To Bakugo’s surprise, he wasn’t the only one who went to attack the villain. He and ‘Shitty Hair’ charged at the mist. Staying low, Bakugo fired an explosion at the villain’s bottom half as Shitty Hair jumped up and tried to land a hit.

The mist villain’s body dispersed and neither student touched him, but the attack left the villain slightly disorganised

Bakugo jumped back with Shitty Hair and the two of them stood next to each other in offensive stances. “Betcha didn’t see that coming!” Shitty Hair taunted.

“That was close,” The villain said as he materialised again, “Yes… Though you may be students, you are the best of the best…” The villain’s mist expanded and began enveloping around them and the rest of class 1-A.

The mist swirled around the whole area and Bakugo brought up his hands to shield himself from the high winds.

Behind him, Bakugo faintly heard Thirteen shout over the howling of the villain’s quirk, “No, get back! Both of you!”

It didn't matter, because right after the mist fully surrounded Bakugo.

He was falling…

Falling…

And then his back came into contact with a floor. The hit knocked the wind out of him and he stayed immobile as he coughed, trying to regain his breath.

“Bro, you need help?” Bakugo opened his eyes to see Shitty Hair towering over him.

Ah shit.

“Fuck off,” He grunted, then rolled over and propped himself up on his elbow. “Where the hell are we?” He asked

As Bakugo lifted himself from the ground he listened to Shitty Hair's response. “I dunno. That villain warped us here with his quirk”

“Lo—”

“—Watch out!” Shitty Hair tackled Bakugo, using his quirk to push with more force.

Bakugo lashed out in anger, “WHAT THE FU— ” and stopped when he saw Shitty Hair taking down a villain. His classmate grappled with the villain and then hit the side of the man’s neck with a hardened hand, knocking him unconscious.

That was easy…

“He was weak as shit,” Shitty Hair looked up at him with a confused expression, while on Bakugo’s face was a shit-eating grin, “I mean anyone would be if you could take them down that easily.”

Shitty Hair gasped dramatically, “That’s not cool, man.”

Bakugo looked at their surroundings. He and Shitty Hair were in an upper level of a decrepit building. The windows were shattered, the walls cracked and various sizes of rubble decorated the room. Judging by the way the floor was slanted, the whole building was on a tilt.

“We’re still in USJ… ”

“Huh?”

“We’re in the Ruins Zone ,” Bakugo motioned to the run down walls and windows of the room they were in.

The Ruins Zone was the section of USJ that mimicked an urban city. It featured all sorts of buildings on the brink of collapsing.

“Ohhh! Yeah I think you’re right!” Shitty Hair exclaimed, “Y’know, you sure are calm all of a sudden!”

FUCK YOU

Bakugo flipped shitty hair the bird, “I’m always calm you damned broomhead!”

“Ah, there it is.”

He flexed his hands and looked at them, his left hand not wearing his gauntlet since he hadn’t had enough time to put the second one on before the mist villain attacked. He scowled and looked back at Shitty Hair,  “I’m outta here, there’s sure to be more villains in the building we can take down.”

“Yeah! And after we can go help the others! If we’re here, I bet everyone else is still in USJ.”

Kirishima’s words seemed to be logical, and it proved how stupid the villains attacking them were.

Villain should’ve put us underground or something…

If that villain was this retarded then the lesser ones should be a breeze to take down

He walked to the exit of the room and stepped over the door, which seemed to have been ripped out of the doorframe.

Bakugo was about to go out into the hallway when Shitty Hair ran up to him, "Wait, dude! Let me go first," He activated his quirk and punched his fists together, "If I fall I won't get hurt!"

Makes sense…

Bakugo didn't reply, he just sidestepped and let the other take the lead.

They walked into the hallway and they were on the outer edge of the far left of the building. About four meters to their left was the end of the hallway, the window there overlooking more dilapidated buildings. The hallway extended for far longer on their right.

“Go right. If there are stairs, they’ll be there” Bakugo grumbled and Shitty Hair complied, stepping over the rubble and glass shards that littered the floor.

As they walked down the hallway, Bakugo following in Shitty Hair’s footsteps to avoid injuring his feet, Shitty Hair quietly shared his thoughts. “Thirteen sensei’s probably got her hands full since we rushed ahead like that. None of this woulda happened if we’d let her suck in that mist man.”

No, he wouldn’t have let her

He’d just have teleported out of her quirk’s immediate reach

“As men, we gotta take full responsibility...”

Bakugo scoffed at that and kept silent when Shitty Hair looked back at him, silently asking him to share his thoughts.

Shitty Hair turned around and continued going forward, quickening the pace. After a few minutes of walking, they were in the middle of the hallway where two elevators and a staircase was.

Shitty Hair walked over to the door leading to the staircase and slowly pushed on it, trying to not make any noise.

Impatient, Bakugo went to push the door himself. “Wait,” Shitty Hair said sternly, the unexpected tone making Bakugo stop. Shitty Hair pointed at his own ear and mouthed ‘listen.’

Bakugo gingerly stepped forward until his head was near the crack of the door. He heard two people conversing somewhere down below.

“Are just supposed to sit here until the kids come??” Bakugo heard a man say.

“Yeah, ‘giri said he’d teleport ‘em here,” A second guy responded, he had a slight accent.

“Is he okay? There should be some kids here by now”

“I dunno, but when they do come we’ll have some fun takin ‘em down”

“Eh? You can’t do that! Didn’t you get the orders from the other guy?”

“Yah of course I got ‘em, but that dude was just a twerp! Shigaraki’s orders are the ‘uns I’m followin”

“Nah. That guy made sense! He promised us protection if things went wrong. That shit goes away for me if you hurt the kids!”

“If you think we aint gon’ be able to kill All Might, then why’d you come?!”

At those words Bakugo and Shitty Hair worriedly looked at each other.

They're here to kill All Might?!

A woman’s voice answered the man’s question, “I don’t know about him, but I wanted to be here because I want All Might dead and I actually came because of that kid’s promise in case they failed! You’ve got to face it, if the two of them are giving out different orders, the chances of this plan failing are real high!”

Guy number one backed her up, “Yeah! It’s good to have faith in a plan, but you’ve also got to have something to fall back on!”

“I don know what you pussy villains are here for, but I’m going to kill some kids, an’ then watch All Might die.”

“NO! If YOU do that then we lose our compensation, dickwad,” the woman shouted

“ …where’s Hotaka?” Bakugo barely caught the end of a sentence under the arguing of the man and woman, it sounded like it came from a second woman.

“I don’ give a FUCK about you cunts, if y’all are too scared to do this shit ‘en just fuckin leave!”

“I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU RUIN THI— ”

“—SHUT UP!” The second woman interrupted, “Where’d Hotaka go?”

Her question was followed by silence… until the first guy spoke up.

“Upstairs… To take a leak…”

“He shoulda been back by now… ” It was the accented guy.

They were all silent for a moment before saying the next word in complete unison.

“Shit.”

They heard people moving around downstairs and then the steps of people coming up the stairs. Shitty hair slowly released the door to let it close and they both pressed their backs to wall the door was attached to, one of them on either side. By now they could hear the people running up the stairs with the door closed. The footsteps got closer and closer.

Go!

He and Shitty Hair violently snapped the door open, knocking the villains back. Bakugo jumped through the doorframe and used an explosion to blast the first villain back, it was one of the men and as that villain flew backwards he brought one of the women down with him. The two traveled all the way to the bottom of the stairs. From what Bakugo could see, they were both rendered unconscious upon impact.

While Bakugo was occupied, Shitty Hair had come out after him. Shitty Hair was fighting the other man, blocking the spikes shooting out of the villain’s skin and continuing his assault.

Behind Shitty Hair, the second woman was charging some sort of attack. Bakugo used explosions to blast his way past his classmate to handle the woman. She saw him and directed a small energetic beam at Bakugo. He swerved to the left, but didn't completely dodge it. The energy fired in an instant, blasting a hole in the wall opposite to her and getting a chunk of Bakugo's flesh.

He growled and went to fire an explosion at her with his injured arm, the adrenaline making the pain in his arm nearly nonexistent.

She seemed to be charging another blast in her right hand. With his left arm, he grabbed that hand and pulled her into his open-handed hit, adding an explosion whose charge flung her into the wall behind her.

She, too, fell unconscious after the hit.

He turned back to Shitty Hair, who was standing over an unconscious vilain. Bakugo assumed that his classmate had dealt with that villain in a similar fashion as he did with the first one.

Bakugo walked down the stairs to the man and woman villain he’d taken out first. He kicked them both, moderately hard, and was pleased when neither woke up or were stirred by it.

It was once he was no longer distracted that Bakugo processed just how much pain he was in. A steady stream of unbridled pain pulsed from his arm. He looked down at it to see an almost perfect half circle of his upper arm’s flesh missing, roughly half the size of a tennis ball. Blood that was weirdly hot gushed out of the wound and ran down Bakugo’s arm.

"Hey. Shitty Hair," Bakugo called out, gritting his teeth because of the pain.

"Its Kirishima" the other replied from the top of the stairs.

"Shut the fuck up. Use your cape thing to cover this shit," He moved his body making his right arm bounce slightly to bring Shitty Hair's attention to it. Bakugo tried to ignore the pang of pain that caused, but couldn’t stop the small whine that developed in the back of his throat.

"Holy crap! Are you okay?!"

"I will be when you fucking do what I told you to do!" Bakugo hissed.

“Ah! Yeah… ”

Shitty hair ripped the fabric off and shook it, particles of dust and small debris flying out of it. After Shitty Hair did that, Bakugo turned his body so his right side faced Shitty Hair, giving him access to his arm.

Shitty Hair made his way down the stairs and then stopped, “Er… Do you wanna take the gauntlet off? It looks pretty heavy and you should try not straining your arm for now…”

Bakugo looked over and the gauntlet. The weight of it pulled his arm down and was likely the reason his wound was aching so much.

He reached over to his right arm with his left and pulled at the latch that kept the gauntlet on. He gritted his teeth to bear the pain as he did so.

Bakugo’s eyes were on his hand and the gauntlet, but he didn’t want to see what Shitty Hair’s expression was like.

Asshole’s probably pitying me

He yanked the latch forward, the way it moved his arm making a spike of pain run throughout it, but the gauntlet fell with a loud clunk and his arm felt significantly lighter.

Shitty Hair closed the distance between them and began bandaging his arm.

“What happened, dude?”

“That fucking bitch and her dumbass quirk.”

“Oh… Hey, um, do you really think they have a way to kill All Might?”

Bakugo was caught off guard by Shitty Hair’s question, but still replied, “Are you stupid? We fucking destroyed these villains in less than a minute and you think they can kill the number one hero?!”

“You can’t just dismiss what they said based off of their demeanor! They’re just lesser villains.”

“Yeah?! They were fucking talking about getting conflicting orders from the guys in power. If the interests of the villains in power aren’t the same, there’s no way they’ll take down All Might. Hell, even that woman was doubting their own success.”

“Oh yeahyeahyeah,” Shitty Hair grumbled before finishing off the bandages. “Anyways…” He stepped back from Bakugo, “That’s the best I’ll be able to do, you’re gonna have to apply pressure on it.”

Before doing that Bakugo swooped down to grab his gauntlet and shoved it into Shitty Hair’s arms, “Hold this,” he said gruffly.

“Usually after your bro does you a favor you say ‘thank you,’” Shitty Hair said chipperly as he took the gauntlet.

“Go fuck yourself,” Bakugo said as his left hand went to apply pressure to his wound, “Let’s go.”

They went to travel all the way down the stairs, this time going next to each other because this part of the building seemed more stable.

“So, if we want to get back to Thirteen and Aizawa, we’d have to get to the central Plaza and then to the entrance, yeah?”

Bakugo gave a grunt in affirmation and said, “I’m gonna beat that warp bastard to a pulp.”

“Huh?! You still going on with that immature stuff? Normal attacks don’t work on that guy! And you’re injured!”

“He’s how these punks are getting around. Bring him down, and they’ll have nowhere to run! And it’s not like I don’t have a way to beat him! And you think a small fucking cut like this is affecting me?!”

“That’s more than a cut,” Shitty Hair said and stopped when he met Bakugo’s glare, "Okay, okay! I trust your judgement, but what’s your way to beat the mist dude?"

Bakugo tsked, "If he didn't have solid body he wouldn't be said 'that was close' when we attacked him"

“OOH!” Shitty Hair exclaimed, “And it’s probably behind that metal thing he wore!”

“Yeah…”

They kept walking in silence and after around five minutes they were now on the main floor. Opening the door, they stepped into the trashed lobby of the apartment building.

They went to the main doors, which were shattered, and carefully stepped through the broken glass. They went left and around another building until they were at the edge of the zone.

“Look! Over there’s the central plaza! We can go help them!”

“Wait.” It wasn’t Shitty Hair, and Bakugo himself didn’t say it.

They both swerved to their left, where the word came from, expecting to see a villain. Instead they were met with one of their classmates.

“Todoroki!? What are you doing here?” Shitty Hair asked.

“I was in the landslide zone, I’m heading to Aizawa and Thirteen.”

“Weren’t there any villains where you were?!”

“Yeah. I got them… They seemed… hesitant.”

A small pang of rage coursed through Bakugo

How many people was this bastard able to take out on his own?!

“Same for us, man!” Shitty Hair gestured to Bakugo, “We listened in on one of their conversations. Apparently they’re not clear on whether or not they’re allowed to hurt us”

The Icyhot bastard didn’t reply, his expression showed slight confusion before morphing back into its unreadable state.

It was with Shitty Hair’s statement that Bakugo wondered:

Why would any villain order them to not hurt us?

They all stood in an awkward silence, everyone tending to the mystery of the villains’s strange behavior using the information each respective party gathered.

“Well, we shouldn’t waste any ti—”

—A deafening bang resonating through the building interrupted Icyhot. The three’s heads snapped towards the entrance of USJ, which the sound originated from.

“Fear not… I am here… ”

Standing proudly at the top of the stairs was All Might.

All Might was here.

A large grin made its way onto Bakugo’s face as he looked at Shitty Hair and Icyhot.

Yeah.. we're all safe now

No way they can get through All Might.

Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 -

Down in the courtyard, the first thing All Might saw was Aizawa being held by a giant villain with dark purple skin. In the milliseconds after he processed that, guilt pulled at All Might’s insides.

Aizawa wouldn’t be in that situation if I hadn’t overused my quirk today…

Before he could think any more, he jumped down the stairs in one leap and propelled himself the rest of the way to Aizawa by kicking off of the villains in his path. Before any of the three villains near Aizawa could react, he hit the arms of the giant villain holding the pro to make it’s grip loosen. All Might then, just as quickly, grabbed Aizawa and jumped away from the villains.

His jump took them all the way to the other end of the plaza, well away from the villains. A quick scan over the other pro weirdly showed that Aizawa had sustained no injuries. He put Aizawa down and Aizawa was able to stand on his own

All Might turned back towards the villains before addressing Aizawa, “What’s going on?” He looked at the scene on the other side of the space, there were two other villains around the large purple one that had captured Aizawa. One of them was made out of a purple gas and the other bore freakishly realistic hands all over his body.

“They haven’t said their purpose here and they aren’t villains I’ve encountered before. The mist villain has a portal quirk, the ones with the hands can disintegrate,” All Might’s eyes met the figures as Aizawa addressed them, “and that purple monster’s strong,” All Might looked at the pro and Aizawa met his eyes, “As strong as you.”

All Might’s scowl deepened and he was about to go take down the villains when Aizawa stopped him.

“Wait,” All Might delayed his pursuits for the underlying urgency in Aizawa’s voice, “There’s a kid there.”

At that All Might’s stomach dropped.

A student there that he missed?

"What?! A student's there?!"

"No! A kid… I don't know why they're with the villains, but they saved me from that purple monster."

"Where?"

"By the bo—the one with the hand outfit."

All Might looked and near the feet of the hand villain he saw a small figure on the floor.

More guilt pricked at his skin when he once again remembered how this whole ordeal could’ve ended a long time ago had he been here for the lesson.

All Might prepared to save the child, he could be there in almost an instant, but before he could, he saw the purple monster charging at Aizawa. The monster travelled at speeds he’d never seen a person other than him accomplish.

Speeds All Might knew Aizawa’s brain would barely register, let alone give the other pro time to dodge.

“As strong as you”

A beast as strong as that could easily kill Aizawa.

All Might changed his course and pushed Aizawa out of the way of the beast’s charge and he was immediately hit by the beast’s attack.

The beast’s punch held so much power All Might was driven ten meters back and his feet dug out two five centimeter deep lines in the ground of which he slid. All Might had just managed to stop the punch from landing on his body by blocking it with his hands. The beast was almost faster than him. Almost.

He felt the all too familiar wetness of his windpipe right before blood spurted out of his mouth with a cough.

This guy doesn’t know how to hold back… !!

Standing where Aizawa was moments ago was the beast. It’s deep purple skin harbouring large light pink scars all over.

Aizawa was only a couple of meters to the left of the beast, but the beast seemed to either be fixated on All Might, or not fixated on anything in particular. Aizawa was facing the villain, capture gear-ready, but All Might inferred that Aizawa knew he’d be no match against the beast the villains had.

Behind the beast was the hand villain. The villain wasn’t even looking at All Might instead he was facing the… the person—kid, according to Aizawa. The villain’s foot lifted up… and landed…

Landed on the kid.

All Might’s eyes widened at that.

( right in front of you )

( ... )

( right. )

( in. )

( front. )

( of .)

( you .)

All Might’s blood boiled as he charged at the beast.

I’ll need to get through this guy first!

“Carolina… ”

He prepared himself to hit the beast. In the corner of his eye he saw Aizawa’s capture tape fly towards the beast, his other pro’s hair flying up signifying the activation of his quirk.

“SMASH!!”

He landed a double-handed hit on the beast’s chest. The beast flew backwards at a breakneck speed. Aizawa’s capture tape just managed to wrap itself around the beast’s arm, swinging it around and redirecting it so it slammed into the ground.

The beast’s impact created a small crater, a sickening crack coming with it as something in its body broke.

A split second passed where he and Aizawa stared at the crater before they cautiously stepped forward. The two pros stood at either end of the hole, still wary in case the beast wasn’t out of commission.

“Restrain it. I’ll keep my quirk activated.”

All Might grunted in agreement as he looked ahead at the other villains. Now the villains were facing them.

( have to go fast )

All Might stepped forward to the edge of the crater and looked down at the beast. Even with it’s arm pathetically broken it tried to move to stand up. He stepped forward into the slope of the crater and approached the villain.

Suddenly the beast’s arms began moving. All might took a step back and stopped his advances. The creature’s arms twisted back into their natural positions, squelching and cracking as they did so.

What the fuck??

He turned to Aizawa, who was no longer there, the other pro was fighting the hand villain.

What??

As much as All Might wanted to help Aizawa, he turned back to the beast. If Aizawa was correct and the beast was as strong as him, he’d have to incapacitate the beast first.

Only, when he turned back, All Might was faced with the jagged teeth of the creature.

All Might jumped to the side and a second after, the massive jaw of the beast snapped in on the air All Might’s head previously occupied. The beast turned it’s head and after it saw All Might not in it’s jaw it charged. All Might jumped back and the beast followed right on his tail.

All Might kept on jumping back, evading the beast’s every move while looking for an opening.

There!!

All might veered to the left, and before the beast followed, he jumped back and punched the villain at 100%.

Weirdly enough it felt like he’d punched water.

( something’s wrong )

All Might looked at his arm. His forearm had disappeared into a portal the same color as the beast, and behind it the beast stood proud, unharmed.

The other villain!!

Before All Might could pull his arm out the portal’s circumference shrunk. The portal’s mistly solid edge pressed threateningly on his skin, holding him in a vice grip. All Might yanked his arm, only for his arm’s circulation to be cut off more.

The beast towered over him, it’s claws threateningly moving towards him.

There was a jerk and the pressure on All Might’s arm lessened. It was enough for him to pull his arm back right before the portal’s mist dissipated. Once free, he again jumped back and away from the beast.

Behind the beast, where Aizawa used to be held captive, All might heard yelling.

It was Kirishima, Bakugo and Todoroki. They were attacking the mist villain. To his left Aziawa was still occupying the hand villain.

They were in danger. Everyone was in danger. And All Might wouldn’t be able to help until the beast was incapcitated.

His gaze turned to steel and he charged at the beast. The monster tried to hit All might, but he was faster. All might slipped past the monster’s arms and hit the villain’s chest. Nothing happened, but that didn’t matter. If the beast was going to be stubborn and not be defeated by a punch then All might would beat it until it couldn’t move. Whenever the beast tried to hit all Might, he punched the monster’s arms and then continued his assault on the monster.

All Might was fighting for control of his quirk.

He felt his grip loosen and blood filled his mouth. He needed to keep going

183184185186187188189190191192193194195196197198199200201202203204205206207208209210211212213214215216217218219220221222223224225226227228229230231232233234235236237238239240241242243244245246247248249

Parts of his self reverted back into his skeletal-like form. He forced his arms to stay muscled.

250251252253254255256257258259260261262263264265266267268269270271272273274275276277278279280281282283284285286287288289290291292293294295296297298299300301302303304305306307308309310311312313314315316…

All Might was exhausted and the monster was almost done with. But it wasn’t enough. He forced himself over the limit, thinking of everyone he’s fighting for.

Aizawa…

Kirishima…

Bakugo…

Todoroki…

The villain kicking the kid flashed through his mind.

His eyes glowed a powerful blue (*megalovania intensifies*) , “Plus… ” his muscles returned, stronger than they were before, “ULTRA!”

He hit the beast’s chest with a ferocious uppercut that sent it soaring into the air. The force sent it through the building’s ceiling and out into the sky.

A second passed where he stayed still, mind trying to process what had happened. It was when All might finally comprehended he’d beaten the beast that he reverted into his skeletal-like form. Smoke bellowed out of his pores, blocking his vision and shielding All Might from other’s eyes.

All Might knew there were villains there, that it wasn’t safe to pass out now. Though, his awareness didn’t stop his exhaustion from forcing him to sleep. He tried to slap himself to stay awake, but he had too little energy to do even that. Soon enough, he stumbled and fell unconscious from his overexertion.

Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 - [Six hours after the USJ Attack]

There had been no breaks for the heroes today. It was a complete miracle that out of the twenty students and three teachers present, only three got injured. That three consisted of himself (Aizawa), All Might and Bakugo. Even then, none of the injuries were nearly fatal or serious.

All of that seemed like a good thing, and—don’t get him wrong—it most definitely was! An attack of that scale where almost no one gets hurt is highly unlikely and Aizawa was surprised (relieved, too, but mostly surprised) that no one had died or was kidnapped, as morbid as his thoughts were.

The department in which the heroes caught no breaks had to do with the villains.

Why? Well, it was an estimated minimum of seventy villains that participated in the attack. And out of the seventy villains, only two were captured.

Two.

Out of seventy .

What a failure that was.

Of course, that wasn’t even the worst of it.

One of those two villains was the kid that had helped him. A goddamned kid . As of now, Aizawa didn’t know much of the kid’s condition other than he had to go through surgery. What Aizawa said before about there being no serious injuries was true… But that was because he wasn’t including the state of any villains. This kid—who he had trouble believing was truly a villain—had received painful injuries; shattered arms and broken fingers that would’ve been inflicted on Aizawa had the kid not interfered.

As grateful as Aizawa was for not being the one with the severe injuries, it just added more confusion to the mess that was the ‘USJ Incident.’

Aizawa slumped in his seat. He stared at the blue folder Tsukauchi had given him ten minutes ago. According to Tsukauchi, the appearance of the villain matched one of a kid who went missing a couple years back. Aizawa wouldn’t know, since he hadn’t had the chance to see behind the kid’s mask, but judging Tsukauchi’s keen eye, Aizawa assumed he was right.

Opening the folder, Aizawa’s eyes were met with a boy’s nervous smile.

The first paper was a large picture of the kid before he went missing. The face Aizawa was looking at only added to his disbeliefs that the kid was a villain. It was a young boy in a junior high school uniform. He had unruly dark green curls, freckles littering his pale face, and his expression screamed out ‘I am uncomfortable!’ Out of everything, the thing that made Aizawa think this kid couldn’t be a villain the most were his eyes. How could eyes that young and naïve ever belong to a villain?

Aizawa tried not to dwell on it and instead moved the picture out of the way to start reading the first form.

He’s the exact same age as my students.

His eyes wandered back to a certain answer on the form.

“Bullying at school”

And most importantly…

“Physically assaulted in April this year by by an unknown assailant”

He looked back at the picture. It was strange seeing those statements associated with  such an innocent face. Aizawa felt his chest fill with—

( pity )

a strange emotion as he flipped to the next page.

Aizawa was glad he was sitting in an empty hall because by the time he’d finished reading the second form his eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

Aizawa found himself at a total loss for words.

Why the fuck would a thirteen year old get attacked like that?

He flipped through the next pages, they were reports describing Midoriya’s medical condition in the hospital after that particular assault. In those he found the only notable piece of new information was that Midoriya’s injuries sent him into a three-month coma. A three-month fucking coma.

Behind the hospital reports regarding Midoriya’s condition after that particular attack were hospital reports from different occasions prior to the attack. Broken arms, legs, concussions, just all sorts of fractures within the ages of when he’d be in his last two years of middle school and his first year of junior high.

The sheer number of times Midoriya had gotten a concussion was terrifying. A hundred years ago, Midoriya’s life would’ve drastically changed with the number of times his brain has been traumatised.

Aizawa wasn’t even sure that Midoriya would’ve survived that brutal assault with the technology they had twenty years ago.

He continued looking through the papers and Aizawa saw that the last page had the information about a second person. In the upper right corner was a picture of a middle-aged woman. She had green hair pulled into a bun and her eyes matched her hair. Overall, the woman looked very tired. Aizawa could relate.

Name: Midoriya Inko

Gender: Female

Date of Birth: July 4, 2165

Quirk: Telekinesis (weak)

Description: Emitter type. She can slowly pull objects with a weight of 2.5 kg or less towards her

Address: 234 Fictional Rd. Apt. # 567

Occupation: Nurse

Phone number        Home: 555-XXX-XXXX        Cell: 555-456-7890

Marital Status: Divorced

Children: One, Midoriya Izuku

Aizawa made a mental note that he’d need to ask Tsukauchi if Midoriya Inko has been contacted yet.

He began putting all the papers back in order and looked at the picture of Midoriya Izuku once again when he was done. It was strange how small bits of information changes one’s perspective, because when Aizawa looked back at those innocent eyes again, all he could see was pain.

Aizawa closed the folder and got up to walk to where more heroes would be. He had to stop for a second because the sudden movement lowered his blood pressure, but he began walking right after that.

After a few moments of walking he turned a corner and saw the back of his co-worker and old friend, Yamada Hizashi (← Present Mic). Aizawa called out Hizashi’s name, which caused the other pro to quickly turn around to face him.

Aizawa could see Hizashi’s brain process who he was before excitedly greeting him, “Heeeyy Shouta!”

Aizawa cut to the point so Hizashi didn’t waste his time with random tangents, “Did Tsukauchi give you the files?”

“Yeah! Right here!” He lifted up another blue folder that contained copies of the papers in Aizawa’s.

Judging by how cheerily Hizashi replied, Aizawa assumed he hadn’t read it, but asked anyways, “Have you looked at it"

“No, not yet.”

“Do it.”

“Haha, okay Mr. Grump.”

“Shut up. Have you seen Tsukauchi?”

“Yeah! He went that way!” Present Mic theatrically pointed to the hallway to Aizawa’s left with both hands.

Aizawa said nothing and he began walking down that hall.

“Wait! There’s a meeting in conference room one in ten minutes! Don’t forget!”

Aizawa raised his hand to show Hizashi he understood and replied with a simple, “Got it.”

After a bit of wandering, Aizawa saw Tsukauchi talking to someone on his cellphone. Their eyes met and Tsukauchi raised one finger at Aizawa before returning his attention towards the phone call. To make use of his time, Aizawa flipped through the folder while he waited for the detective to wrap up his call.

A minute later, Aizawa heard the detective address him, “Yes, Eraserhead?”

He closed the file and then waved it at Tsukauchi, “What’s with this?”

“Erm, what do you mean?”

This . What happened to this kid?”

“Oh! Yeah. I wasn’t on his missing case, but files show the search for him didn’t last long. He was labelled a runaway in less than a week.”

“Because of the bullying?”

“Most likely.”

“Ok, but this ?” He shoved the first incident report into Tsukauchi’s hands.

“Yeah… I was on that case, I interviewed his mother. I thought he got caught up in some villain attack, but she thought different.”

“What’d she think?”

“She wasn’t completely sure, but she mentioned him being targeted for being quirkless.”

“Why?”

“I didn’t get it, there aren’t many cases involving quirkless people, but she said he was bullied because of it.”

“But assaulting a kid that bad for it?”

“I know,” Tsukauchi handed Aizawa’s file back and he put it back into the folder, “Anyways, I didn’t work on that case much after that. There was too little information and it was a low priority. Though, I did find out that a lot of quirkless kids go missing… ” Tsukauchi’s eyes went downcast and his voice trailed off before clearing his throat and continuing his statement, “Um, that was after he disappeared, this is the first one that’s ever been found… And he was with villains, no less.” Tsukauchi let out a soft chuckle, “Life never seems to want to give me a break nowadays”

Aizawa nodded. Life’s a bitch, he would know.

“One second,” Tsukauchi muttered before looking at his watch and then back at Aizawa, “Ah! Meeting’s in five minutes, are you going to be there?”

Aizawa sighed, “I have to be.”

“Great, we can talk on our way there, then.”

Tsukauchi took the lead and Aizawa followed beside him.

“How much do you know about this kid?” Aizawa asked.

“A bit, we’ll go in depth about it during the meeting, so I won’t say too much more now. One thing that’s certain is that it’s a very strange case”

“Mmm.” The conversation dropped there and a minute later Aizawa remembered Midoriya Inko, “I forgot to ask, have you contacted Midoriya’s mother?”

“Not yet, we have to discuss what’s going to happen to Midoriya first.”

Aizawa didn’t reply and the rest of the walk passed in silence.

He and Tsukauchi were the last ones to arrive at the conference room. In the conference room was most of UA’s staff. On the left side of the table was Recovery Girl, Vlad King, Present Mic, Midnight, Lunch-Rush, and Hound Dog. On the other side was Nezu, All Might (who was in his original form), Snipe, Cementoss, Powerloader, Ectoplasm and Thirteen. Aizawa walked to the left side of the table to sit in the empty seat in between Present Mic and Midnight while Tsukauchi walked to the head of the table. Looking around, he saw everyone had their own blue folder and there was a stack of new papers in front of each seat.

Tsukauchi started the meeting. “Okay, so we’re all here to discuss the events at USJ today, and the actions we need to take in response to them. The papers in front of you is a general timeline of the events that occured in USJ today using the statements we gathered during the interviews with everyone present.”

USJ VILLAIN ATTACK

Date: Thursday, April 7, 2208

Timeline

Eraserhead took class 1-A to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint

All Might was unable to teach the class because he over-used his quirk during his morning commute

Once all of the students were inside, the villains were warped into the Central Plaza by Kurogiri

Eraserhead went to confront the villains as Thirteen and Kaminari tried to contact UA staff

They were unable to send a signal due to interference that was presumed to come from a villain’s quirk

Kurogiri attacked the students and after Kirishima and Bakugo tried to subdue him, Kurogiri warped them to different zones in USJ

Villains were waiting for the students in each zone

Tokoyami and Koda were sent to the Downpour Zone

  • They were restrained by villains
  • No harm was inflicted upon them

Shinsou, Mineta and Asui were set to the Floods Zone

  • They were chased onto the boat and the villains stopped them from leaving
  • The villains did not try to attack them after that point

Ojiro and Aoyama were sent to the Conflagration Zone

  • Ojiro was restrained by villains while Aoyama hid
  • No harm was inflicted upon Ojiro

Yaoyorozu, Jiro and Kaminari were sent to the Landslide Zone

  • They fought together against the villains
  • That continued until the villains retreated at the end of the attack

Todoroki and Hagakure were sent to the Mountain Zone

  • Todoroki froze the villains while Hagakure hid
  • Todoroki made the villains tell them why they were there
    • “They said Shigaraki had a weapon capable of killing All Might”
  • Todoroki exited the zone

Kirishima and Bakugo were sent to the Ruins Zone

  • They overheard the villains say they wanted to kill All Might, and that the villains were disorganised
  • They took down the villains and exited the zone
  • Bakugo’s right arm was injured by one of the villain’s quirks

Iida, Uraraka, Shoji, Sato, Sero and Ashido stayed at the entrance with Thirteen

  • Thirteen and the students attacked Kurogiri
  • Thirteen tried using her quirk on the villain, but stopped after Kurogiri almost used her quirk to harm the students
  • At one point, the students set up an attack that distracted Kurogiri long enough that Iida could exit the building to get help

Todoroki, Kirishima and Bakugo met when they exited their zones and started making their way to the Central Plaza

While all that was happening, Eraserhead fought with Shigaraki and other villains in the Central Plaza

When Shigaraki introduces the Nomu to the fight, a different villain [Midoriya Izuku] saves Eraserhead from the Nomu’s initial attack

Eraserhead tries to attack Shigaraki, but is captured by the Nomu

Eraserhead is forced to watch the conflict between Shigaraki, Kurogiri and [Midoriya]

After Iida ran to get help, he encountered All Might, who was walking to USJ

All Might rushed to USJ

All Might saved Eraserhead from the Nomu and together they took down the Nomu

Before All Might could restrain the Nomu, Aizawa was attacked by Shigaraki

Without Eraserhead’s erasure, the Nomu was able to use it’s quirk to regenerate itself

All Might and Nomu fought

Todoroki, Kirishima and Bakugo arrived at the Central Plaza

Kurogiri interfered with All Might’s fight by warping All Might’s arm before he could strike the Nomu

Bakugo restrained Kurogiri and Kurogiri’s interference in All Might’s Fight was nulled

All Might continued his fight with the Nomu

Todoroki restrained [Midoriya] while Kirishima fought other villains in the Central Plaza

All Might defeats the Nomu

The Nomu was sent flying out of USJ

All Might passed out from over-usage of his quirk

Villains rushed Bakugo and Todoroki which let Kurogiri escape

Kurogiri removed Shigaraki from his fight with Eraserhead and began warping other villains away

Iida arrived with the rest of the pro heroes

Snipe shot at the villains attacking Kaminari, Yaoyorozu and Jiro in the Landslide Zone

Present Mic used his quirk to disorient the villains in the Central Plaza/Entrance

Before any villains could be captured, they were warped away by Kurogiri

Kurogiri sent away every villain in the Central Plaza

Eraserhead, Hound Dog, Vlad King, Snipe, Present Mic, Powerloader and Ectoplasm left the Central Plaza to gather the students from the different zones

Hound Dog used his quirk to identify where each student was

At each zone there would be no more villains and no students were notably harmed

In the Central Plaza Nezu, Midnight and Cementoss apprehended [Midoriya]

[Midoriya] resisted capture and Nemuri knocked him out with her quirk

Recovery Girl treated All Might

A female villain tried to recover [Midoriya]

Cementoss stopped her and she was pulled back into a warp gate by another villain

Eraserhead, Hound Dog, Vlad King, Snipe, Present Mic, Powerloader and Ectoplasm returned to the Central Plaza with the eleven students that were scattered throughout the zones

Nezu contacted the police

Recovery Girl took Eraserhead, All Might, Bakugo and [Midoriya] to the nurse’s office

It was deemed unsafe for [Midoriya] to be outside of the heroes’ protection

[Midoriya] had his surgery performed at UA

Detectives arrived at UA and each student and teacher went through an interview

It was a crude summary, but straightforwardness was ideal when many specific points need to get across.

“The leader of the villains is Shigaraki, whose quirk allows him to disintegrate anything he touches. We’ve been through the list of men in their twenties and thirties in the quirk registry with no luck. Nothing turned up on the ‘warp gate’ user, Kurogiri, either. Neither is registered, and both are using aliases. Their quirks aren’t on record, making them members of the underworld,” Tsukauchi concluded.

“So you’re saying we know next to nothing…" Snipe replied, "I reckon we oughta learn fast. Or the leader of those varmints, Shigaraki… His wounds’ll heal and he’ll be back again.”

“Not necessarily,” Tsukauchi said, “I’m hopeful that the villain we captured will provide answers for us.”

Snipe went to respond, but Tsukauchi talked before Snipe had the chance, “I’ll explain. I hope you’ve had the chance to read over the reports before the meeting, but if not I’ll be explaining the context so you won’t have to read them now. The person we captured was Midoriya Izuku, a thirteen year old who went missing in 2206.”

Nemuri ( ← Midnight) spoke up before Tsukauchi could continue, “How could this guy be a villain? He’s quirkless?”

“That’s exactly my point. I have reason to believe that him being with Shigaraki was more of a forced situation than them being colleagues.”

“What would Shigaraki want with a quirkless kid?” Snipe inquired.

“That I don’t know the answer to, but I have found out that a large percentage of young quirkless people end up going missing. There is no known reason, and Midoriya might be the start of us finding out what happens to them”

Snipe pressed on, “Isn’t he detained? Why haven’t you begun the questioning process?”

Tsukauchi sighed and gestured to him, “Aizawa, do you want to take the lead on this?”

“Sure,” Aizawa said and he pointed to a specific event in the timeline, ”You see the part of the part where it says Midoriya saves me from a villain?”

“Yes yes.” Snipe said, he was holding his own timeline and had his eyes on the part Aizawa described.

“When that happens the villain—the Nomu—breaks his arms. One was twisted and the other was snapped like a twig.”

“That happened to someone the same age as our first-years?!” Nemuri interrupted.

Aizawa ignored her question, which was more a thought said out loud, and continued, “When it says I’m ‘forced to watch the conflict between Shigaraki, Kurogiri and Midoriya,’ Nomu held me down and Shigaraki attacked the kid. Kid’s arms were no use, no way he could’ve fought back. Shigaraki broke his fingers—”

He didn’t even make a noise

Aizawa thought, but didn’t add. It was with that statement that Aizawa realised Midoriya must’ve been used to being mutilated by others.

He didn’t mention that, either.

“—I think, and then he said he’d kill the kid when they were done.”

Not a moment passed before Recovery Girl built off of Aizawa’s story, “Before we get off track, let me further explain Midoriya’s situation. Of course, we deemed it unsafe for him to be treated in a public hospital, so Midoriya was kept here. Midoriya’s left arm fracture was a relatively clean break, so with the help of my quirk it’s well on its way to healing. His right arm, however, was shattered to splinters, including his fingers. He's been off the anesthesia for a few hours, but the exhaustion my quirk put on him has kept Midoriya asleep.”

Vlad King spoke for the first time since the meeting started, "What's going to happen to him once he wakes up?"

Tsukauchi was the one who answered, "He's going to have to be kept within UA. Because of Kurogiri's quirk, transporting Midoriya would have a high chance of failure”

Nezu piped in his own knowledge after Tsukauchi, “We’ve also started increasing the security and adding new defense mechanisms that are effective against teleportation quirks."

"What sort of security?" Vlad King asked.

"Surveillance cameras in the hallways, training buildings, and all classrooms. We're also working with some hero support companies on making sensors that can detect that type of quirk. At the moment we have hired pro heroes to patrol near the circumference of UA and there are also others patrolling the outsides of the dorms," Nezu explained.

Cementoss asked a question next, “Have the student’s parents been informed of the situation?”

“Not fully, they’re aware that UA’s on lockdown, but not of the reason,” Nezu said.

“We’re going to have to resolve this soon. Not much time will pass until the story’s found out by the press. The option that would work best in our interest is revealing the story ourselves, so we can moderate what information is given,” Tsukauchi said.

“That would also minimize backlash from any parents,” Hizashi added.

“How are we going to explain the reason of the attack to the media and parents? The students don’t seem to be in any immediate danger since the villains had many opportunities to hurt the students, yet that never happened… Save for Bakugo” Vlad King spelled out.

“The best course of action would be to say the villain’s weren’t targeting the students, since that’s the truth. Though we should leave out the part of their intentions being to kill All Might,” Nezu responded.

“If the villains don’t harbour any ill-intent towards the students why are we hiring heroes to guard the dorms?” Snipe asked.

“We can’t assume that the villains are harmless, they’re villains. It’s better to be safe about it,” Nemuri stated.

"Yes, even if it seemed to be an unorganized attack and their motives weren't clear, they were still able to retreat with almost all of their members. They may try to organize a sort of 'rescue mission' to take back Midoriya. Having the increased security will at least stop that from happening," Tsukautchi said.

“Sorry, but can we backtrack for a second?” Vlad King said, “Why would these villains think they could take down All Might?”

“That large purple villain, The Nomu,” All Might said, pointedly. Aizawa had almost forgotten that All Might was in the room at all. All Might had been far too quiet during this meeting; it didn’t match his eccentric personality. It was strange.

“But what about that villain made it special?” Vlad King asked.

“The Nomu is a large beast with a size and strength comparable to All might.

“Is that true?!” Vlad King exclaimed.

All Might nodded, “It took every last ounce of my strength to take it down.” He sounded grim.

“Why haven’t we gotten any information out of that villain?” Snipe asked.

Tsukauchi answered his question, “To put it lightly, the Nomu’s demeanor is very strange. As powerful as it is, it seems to be a very obedient creature with no mind of its own. We’re currently making plans to transport it to another facility where proper tests can be conducted in an environment where there will be no chance of it harming anyone. As confirmed by Aizawa and All Might, it’s a very powerful and dangerous villain.”

It was then that there was a knock at the conference room door, followed by it opening to reveal a nurse, “I’m sorry for interrupting. Recovery Girl, may you please come with me? The patient has woken up”

“Already?” Recovery Girl asked, which was responded to with a nod by the nurse. Recovery Girl got out of her seat and walked to the door. She turned towards all of the pro heroes in the room and added, “Continue the meeting without me, I need to check on Midoriya.” Recovery Girl walked out of the room and the nurse bowed slightly before closing the door behind Chiyo.

They all stayed silent for a moment

“He’s awake now… ” Nemuri commented.

“We should contact Midoriya’s mother, shouldn’t we?” All Might said.

Aizawa gave in his own input at that, “Yes, we should.”

“I’ll… I’ll do it now,” Tsukauchi said. The detective picked up a page holding Midoriya Inko’s information with one hand as he took out his phone with another. Everyone watched in silence as he punched in her number. He pressed ‘call’, and after three rings someone picked up.

Aizawa listened as Tsukauchi talked to the person on the line, pauses indicating the other was talking, “Hello, Is this Midoriya Inko? … This is Detective Tsukauchi. Are you familiar with UA Highschool? … All will be explained, I’m going to need you to come to UA High as soon as possible. …  I’m afraid I can’t tell you over the phone, police business. I need you to come to UA high. … Excuse me?” There was a pause, Tsukauchi listening to Ms. Midoriya’s response, before he blocked the transmitter of the phone and turned towards the pro heroes. “She wants to know why.”

“Just tell her,” Aizawa said.

“Okay… ” he uncovered the phone and put it back to his ear. “Ms. Midoriya, it has to do with your son, Midoriya Izuku. … I’ll need you to come to UA to hear the details. … …yes. Please, do not tell anyone, and come to UA. … Approximately how long will it take? … Okay, that is all Ms. Midoriya. … You’re welcome,” At that, Tsukauchi hung up the phone and then took a few steps towards the table.

“She said it’ll take her thirty minutes to get here. Anyways, is that the conclusion of our meeting?”

They concluded the meeting and everyone left the room at their own pace. Aizawa walked in the direction of Recovery Girl’s office, thinking of the kid being held there.

Midoriya Izuku, you better provide us with some answers..

Chapter Text

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 - [During the USJ Incident]

Tap tap tap went her fingers on the countertop.

She sat on one of the old red stools; rapidly tapping the counter to release some of her anxiousness. With her other hand she repeatedly went through the motions to crack her knuckles. When you do it that often in a small time frame they don’t crack, but she tried anyways.

Worry worry worry her mind went.

As tiring as it was, she could never get it to stop.

Even though she knew it would be fruitless, Inko turned over to Toga. Toga sat in the corner of the room, opening and closing a switchblade. Click. click. click.

She interrupted the stillness with a raspy noise. The kind you make when you try to talk when you aren’t ready to. Inko cleared her throat and tried again, “Do… do you know how long they’ll be?”

Toga traced her knife along the grain of the wood. The pressure on the knife was higher than normal. Stress. Stress. Stress. “No idea,” Toga’s response was clear-cut. Her usual cheeriness had dissipated with their raucous planning. The last 24 hours had been very draining, and now, all they could do was wait.

Inko let out a groan. Her mind convulsed with more worry as she turned her face away from Toga. When she turned back, the chair moved a bit, inspiring the woman to do a childish thing.

Inko pushed against the bar’s counter and the chair turned, on the next pass she pushed against the counter again, gathering speed. Spin spin spin she went until the chair wavered and she had to grab the counter to stop. She was dizzy, her head hurt and dysfunctional with a lack of sleep and surprisingly the worry had flung itself out of her with the spinning. She laid her head down on her arms. It was uncomfortable, but Inko didn’t care. Soon enough she fell into an inevitable sleep…

- Thursday, April 7, 2208 - [Six hours after the USJ Incident]

Inko didn’t know long her sleep had lasted. All she knew was that she was woken up by the sound of gunshots and the thuds of people falling. It was not a pleasant way to be woken, but the news to follow that abrupt awakening was tremendously worse. They’d managed, though. Information was exchanged and now plans were in place.

It had been, what? Like, seven hours since she woke. Despite having done next to nothing in that timespan, she didn’t have the time to sleep. Shigaraki’s major fuck up outweighed her current sleep deprivation.

In front of her sat her crappy, but reliable phone. Inko stared holes into the cheap plastic as she waited patiently—and yet not very patiently—for the phone call.

Toga was there too, her eyes red from crying. Inko could see Toga wringing her hands out over and over as they waited. She also knew Dabi was probably standing in the corner, waiting for the phone to ring as well.

Minutes passed and they all waited.

The concept of time was thrown out the window as their minds wandered until the phone finally buzzed to life and so did they.

Inko sucked in a breath and looked at the number. She didn’t recognise it, but she could only hope it was who she was expecting.

Inko took some deep breaths as she counted the rings of the phone.

One ring, two rings, three rings… She carefully flipped open the phone and pressed the answer button.

Inko brought the phone to her ear and spoke, “Hello?”

A man on the other end greeted her, “Hello, Is this Midoriya Inko?”

“Um, yes. Uh who-who is this?” She responded.

“This is Detective Tsukauchi. Are you familiar with UA Highschool?” She tensed when the man said that, though inside she was ultimately relieved. Everything was going according to plan.

“Is it the heroes?” Toga whispered. Inko held the phone steady and quickly nodded. Toga responded by shuffling her stool closer and putting her head next to Inko’s. Inko moved the phone in between the two of their ears; she trusted that Toga wouldn’t make a noise.

“Yes. Uh, excuse me, why are you calling me?”

“All will be explained, I’m going to need you to come to UA High as soon as possible.”

Her and Toga’s eyes met, “Why?” Inko asked the detective.

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you over the phone, police business. I need you to come to UA high.”

Toga’s eyes burned into Inko’s, “Uhm… No.”

“Excuse me?”

“I’m… I’m-I’m sorry! I mean, uh… Tell me why, please.”

There was a pause on the other end as the two women waited intently.  “Ms. Midoriya, it has to do with your son, Midoriya Izuku.”

Time to act

( Be convincing )

I am…

I am a grieving mother who was just informed that my son may have been found.

The memory of her being woken up by Toga and her son just over a year ago flashed through her mind.

Let’s pretend that never happened

Think of a time before that…

Now Inko had to stir up past emotions. She paused to think of every wrong she and Izuku experienced. Everything that was taken from them because of something they couldn’t control. She thought of the teachers turning a blind eye and the police never caring. She thought of the hospital bills and soft smiles Izuku—no, Deku —would flash her as reassurance when he was sad. She thought of the lonely nights when he had been taken from her while All Might’s voice on the TV spewed how no one should fear because “I am here!” All Might saying that when practically nothing had been done to find her son. Though, her resentment towards All Might dissipated when she thought of that man .

Kimura Akihiko

A thick level of rage enveloped her when she thought of Him. A mantra of ‘ I’ll kill him ’ repeated in her head, despite Him already being dead. Her thoughts made her tremendously, egregiously angry. And Inko was always an angry crier.

Inko drew in a sharp breath and spoke out feebly as hot tears fell down her face “W-w-w-what?” He voice wavered, making her ‘wuh’ sound drawn out and unsteady and the rest of the word was barely a whisper.

“I’ll need you to come to UA to hear the details.”

“Do… Do you have him?” Her voice had cracked, making her distress all the more believable.

“...yes. Do not tell anyone, and come to UA.”

“O-okay.”

“Approximately how long will it take?”

She sniffed and wiped her nose with her forearm, “Uhm… I’ll need to take the train… At least thirty minutes? I-I’ll get there as soon as I can!”

“Okay, that is all Ms. Midoriya.”

“T-thank you”

“You’re welcome.” And then he ended the call.

Inko took a deep breath and even with her eyes closed she could feel Toga’s curious gaze on her.

“You going?” It was Dabi, who was lurking in the corner just as Inko had predicted. He stalked over and stood to her left.

Inko wiped away her tears with her fingers and took a few moments to steady her breath, “I’ve got to.”

That was followed by an argument between her and the main members of the league, but none of that really mattered. Ten minutes later she was warped to an alley near the train station and her commute to UA began. An annoyingly normal collection of thoughts and worries repeated themselves in her mind as she walked. “ Those fucking hero bitches better not have done anything to my son ” was one of the more common phrases in her head.

Around fifty minutes after she left, she walked down the street the large collection of UA buildings was found. She was tired, slouching, and really wished that she had taken the liberty to nap more in the hours after Shigaraki’s attack on UA. As bad as she felt, she didn’t fret over it; her disheveled look would let her mind take a break in terms of acting distressed. That would stop the heroes from catching onto the fact that she knows more than they do.

Once she was close enough to see the main entryway of the school, a tabby cat-headed policeman recognised her and took her into the direction of what he said was a more discreet entrance. Inko understood, she had seen the hoard of reporters hounding the main entrance. Those reporters seeing her enter UA would break down some of the secrecy the heroes were trying to keep about the USJ attack. Inko internally thanked the heroes for planning in advance. Avoiding the media benefited her as well.

The walk was… relatively long. Her exhaustion made every minute feel like an hour, so Inko’s misery never ceased. At one point it even began feeling as if she was trudging through a thick substance. On top of that she also registered that the pressure building around her head was a massive headache. The policeman, who had introduced himself as Officer Tamakawa, (full name: Tamakawa Sansa, he’s the cat policeman in bnha) tried to make conversation, but Inko could only respond in short dry answers, effectively killing the conversation before it could flourish.

Once they made it to the doorway Inko realised she should’ve memorised the route for future reference. A secret and more discreet entrance into UA high would be a very useful piece of information they could utilise. Great. Just great! Now on top of all her worries and tiredness she was calling herself stupid! Whatever.

The policeman opened the door and she followed him inside. Inside was bright. There were walls connected to each other in a way that made a hallway and the hallway was however long it was and it was bright and she just wanted to sit and holy crap she was beginning to not care whatever happens to Deku because all she wants to do is curl up into a ball on the floor and die. Despite all that, she persevered and the cop led her to a room.

It wasn’t an official interrogation room, but the heroes had to make do with their lack of a police station.

Inside was one table and three chairs, two on one side and one on the other. Sitting in the two chairs were the pro heroes Inko immediately recognised as Recovery Girl and Eraserhead. Standing next to them was a detective Inko knew as Detective Tsukauchi.

Officer-she-forgot-his-name-already gestured towards the inside of the room and she entered. He closed the door behind her and did not follow.
