It seemed like it was going to be a normal day, all of class 1-A was sitting in the commons all doing something. Kaminari, Kirishima, Bakugo, and Sero were in the middle of a Mario kart battle, Uraraka, Hagakure, and Jiro were all taking turns braiding either Momo, or Tsyuu’s hair, Iida, Koda, and Ojiro were all reading their respective books, Aoyama was attempting to bake with Sato, Shoji, and Tokoyami, Midoriya was writing in his “Hero Analysis for the Future #14” while Todoroki was reading over his shoulder and giving him ideas. Then all of a sudden Mina blurts out
“We should do karaoke!”
Almost all of the class was quick to agree, that is except for Bakugou and Midoriya, who both tried to leave secretly when each of their respective significant others pulled them back and forced them to sit down.
“THIS IS STUPID AND I REFUSE TO BE APART OF IT!!” The explosive boy screamed.
“For once I agree with you Katsuki.” A small sassy voice muttered.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY NERD!!” The explosive boy yelled, leaping up to attack the greenette who barely flinched at his attempt, but was then pulled back by a disappointed looking Kirishima.
“That was so unmanly dude.” The red haired boy said with a frown on his face.
“WHAT DO I CARE WHAT YOU THINK IS UNMANLY SHITTY HAIR!” Bakugo yelled back about to say more but was cut off by Kirishima putting his hand over Katsuki’s mouth.
“Sorry about him Midori-bro.” The redhead said to the greenette.
“It’s fine Kiri-kun.” The small boy reassured.
By the time this had all gone over Mina and the other girls had already finished setting up the karaoke machine and Mina had started singing her song. (she totally sang happy by pherrel williams by the way.)
After a couple hours everyone had gone (Katsuki unwillingly being roped into singing the Backyardigans theme by Kiri and Mina literally pulling him onstage) and everyone was about to turn in for the night when Uraraka shouted
“WAIT! Deku didn’t sing yet!”
Izuku halfway to the elevator stopped dead in his tracks and muttered
As he was dragged to the microphone by Uraraka and Tsu.
“C’mon Deku! It’s just a little song! No one is gonna judge you!”
Izuku sighed and pulled up his song then started singing.
“There are flowers growing all around a massive animal inside of me and it’s so ugly and I’m so broken and it’s so broken and I’m so ugly”
Of course as Izuku sang those last few words is when Shota Aizawa had the unfortunate timing of walking into the commons and hearing how broken his ki- no student sounded, and everyone else noticed it to. It was then that they noticed the eyebags under their friends normally bright and sunshine like face. But Izuku paid no mind and just kept singing.
“I am calling all of my friends to pull me out of this hole. But they're so caught up in their own shit. And I'm so caught up in my own shit. Worlds collapsing all inward. And the drones are piercing through its own skin. But I think we should live together. Yeah I think we should live together”
Shota put a hand over his mouth as he heard this kid, child sing these words and he could tell that he meant them and this wasn’t just him singing the lyrics it was him singing his feelings.
But Izuku didn’t stop at the gasps and strangled sobs of his friends, no, if anything it made him more angry as he kept singing the “Lyrics”.
“And you have to believe me when I say I understand that no one around here seems to understand. But you have got to make an effort. Yeah you have got to make an effort.”
Shoto was seconds away from walking over to Izuku and comforting him when he noticed the strong grip of his teacher hold him back, as he looked back at Aizawa the mormaly blank faced unemotional teacher was shaking his head at him with glossy eyes and unshown tears.
But Izuku kept singing.
“Like kids smoking in cemeteries. Trying to remember what it's like to be nothing again
So maybe it won't be so scary. When they finally meet the maker at all”
Even Katsuki, the brash, angry, explosive boy, let out a soft gasp as he realized that this was all his fault.
But Izuku kept going.
“There are flowers growing all around the tiny fish swimming inside my blood. Begging me for more cheap coffee. Begging me for more cheap coffee. Swimming round a kingdom of regrets
Slowly building up inside of me. But there are things that I believe in. Yeah sacred things that I am keeping, for you to see. Later when you need them like a Christmas tree. Covered in light blue ornaments”
Izuku then dropped the microphone and walked off towards the elevators and pressed the button to the roof, once he got there he sat on the roof pulling out a pack of cancer sticks (don’t smoke kids) and lit one. To his surprise no one came up right away or yelled at him to explain… he won’t say it out loud but he’s glad for this. He was in pure peace, that is until Aizawa came up behind him and forced Izuku to give him the lit cancer stick and the rest of the pack.
“Why kid? Why haven’t you said anything? Why haven’t you asked for help?” Aizawa asked in a low voice” Your teachers are here to help, your classmates are here to help, I’m here to help”
To say he was surprised when the problem child burst out laughing is an understatement. Aizawa was, to put it simply, s h o o k.
“HAHAHAHA! FUNNY JOKE SENSEI!! Best goddamn one I’ve heard all year.” Izuku said going from yelling to a barely audible whisper. “You never came off as the joking type to me. No one cares. No one cares about the weak, helpless, Quirkless, little Deku.”
“What do you mean?” Aizawa asked honestly dumbfounded by what he just heard.
“What do I mean? WHAT DO I MEAN?! I MEAN THAT YOU CAN KNOCK OFF THE CARING ACT! NO TEACHER HAS EVER OR WILL EVER CARE ABOUT ME!! THEY JUST IGNORE ME! YOU JUST IGNORE ME! LIKE YOU SAID I’M JUST A GODDAMN LIABILITY!!”
After a few seconds the faint sound of muffled crying is heard. “I don’t even know why I’m here...I should never have came, I should have never said yes” all of the words spoken sounded broken.
Aizawa had seen a lot in his years of teaching, and by a lot he means alot, but never has he had a student that’s this good at acting like he doesn’t need help every day when really it’s all he needs.
“Come here problem child.” Aizawa ordered. He frowned when there was no movement in his counterpart. He reached out his arms and pulled the broken child close to his chest.
”I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
Izuku when he heard aizawa apologize let out a strangled sob as he remembered that day all those years ago
“I’m sorry Izuku! I’m so sorry!” His mother cried while hugging him, all that she could think at that moment was ‘that’s not what I wanted you to say.”
“That’s not what I wanted you to say” Izuku muttered before passing out in his teachers arms.
