“It really is a shame.” Luka smiled at Jonah sweetly. “You were always the golden child, weren’t you? Always the center of attention, always the one loved by our dear parents.” He almost snarled the word.
“It feels nice to have beaten you at something for once.” Smiling, he began to walk away, motioning to the guards. They stepped forward towards Jonah, cuffing his arms behind his back, restraining him.
Jonah swallowed hard. “Luka- Luka no- please Luka, don’t do this-” His younger brother whirled on him.
“Don’t tell me what to do!” Slap! Jonah’s head snapped to the side, cheek reddening with the force of the hit. Luka glared down at him coldly. “There, now look what you’ve made me do. I’ve soiled my hands because of you.”
Disgusted, he wiped his hands on a handkerchief and motioned to the guards holding Jonah. “Take him away.”
Then he paused.
“On second thought, caring for him would drain my resources. Why waste them on him? I have a better idea.” Their eyes met and Jonah blanched. Tears dripped down his face.
One of the guards stepped forward, smacking him on the back of the head. “Silence!” Fishing a gag out of his pocket, he tied it around Jonah’s mouth. He bowed respectfully to Luka.
“My Queen, what would you rather have us do?” Luka pondered the question for a few minutes.
And then he smiled.
“…….Off with his head.”
