How a stumble saved Yiling Patriarch

Chapter Text

Wei WuXian never thought that one day he would have to thank Jin ZiXun for his stupidity, but hey, he also didn't think that one day Lan WangJi would imprison him and kiss him wildly to the point of leaving him dizzy.

Of course, Wei WuXian would like to think that it was all due to a coincidence.

Yes, Jin ZiXun may have contributed to the series of events that led Wei WuXian to realize that he had been madly in love with Lan's second Jade for a long, long time, but luck, or rather, Wei WuXian's clumsiness as well. played an important role in the matter.

It all started a couple of hours ago. The four great sects had gathered on Phoenix Mountain to compete in a hunt when Jin ZiXun approached him and opened his mouth to start spewing shit.

Wei WuXian would be lying if he said that he wasn't feeling annoyed solely by seeing the golden robes of the Jin Sect, but the peacock's cousin took that annoyance to a whole new level. Somewhat impressive given that Wei WuXian seemed to forget his name and existence most of the time.

Be that as it may, Jin ZiXun had worked his magic and Wei WuXian wouldn't be satisfied if he weren't the center of attention.

The idea that he might be bringing trouble on himself crossed his mind at some point, but he decided to ignore it anyway, after all, problems would sooner or later find him.
Wei WuXian knew that there was a large part of him that liked to show off. The fact that no one had ever defeated him in a fight helped foster that presumptuous streak, and even when he no longer had a golden core he couldn't change that.

With an army of the undead behind him there was very little he couldn't do.

Thus, by the time Wei WuXian realized it, he had already bet that he could get the best result even with his eyes closed and was in the process of bandaging himself.

That's when it happened.

Apparently, he had been too excited to prove his point and slap Jin ZiXun in any way he could, because he stumbled.

Luckily, what little face he had left these days was saved thanks to a charitable soul who caught him before he could crash to the floor.

Of course, being unable to see, Wei WuXian had no idea who that person might have been.

However, it was not difficult to guess. Today there weren't many men who smelled of sandalwood, peace and familiarity, abhorred physical contact to the point of pulling away as soon as Wei WuXian had stabilized on his own two feet, and most importantly, were willing to help him.

Wei WuXian had a very plausible feeling of who this charitable soul might be, but it wasn't until a familiar voice warned him with a simple, terse "Be careful" that he was completely sure.

His doubts, at first, were reasonable.

Lan WangJi hated him. And even if that wasn't the case, he was close enough to do so.

During his stay in the Cloud Reccesses a couple of years ago Wei WuXian had done nothing but annoy and enrage Lan WangJi in every possible way.

So, it was hard to imagine that the same man he tortured with his presence for three months would step forward and catch him before embarrassing himself (and his sect) and giving Jin ZiXun reasons to keep talking.

Apparently, Wei WuXian had underestimated the goodness and teachings of the Lan Sect. These, in Lan WangJi's heart seemed to be above any discontent he had with him.

After a simple "thank you", Wei WuXian made his way into the forest, completely oblivious (as always) to the reaction he elicited with his words.

Once he thought he was far enough away, Wei WuXian played his flute until he was convinced that he had already done enough, and, still without seeing, he sat down to rest on the branch of a tree that seemed made specifically for that purpose.

Wei WuXian relaxed, hummed, and played with the flower in his hand as he fantasized how satisfying it would be to scrub first place in the pompous Jin's face.

However, the beautiful image painted on his head was dissipated as the sound of approaching footsteps caught his attention.

There weren't many people willing to approach him these days, unless it was to attack and insult him. Wei WuXian would not doubt that they would spit or stab him if fear of the consequences did not convince them otherwise.

Wei WuXian appreciated that the person, whoever it was, did not appear to have bad intentions, or at least, the intention to kill him right there. For this reason, he kindly advised his to leave, that he would gain nothing good by being around him.

Of course, he didn't expect his kindness to be rewarded with a shove.

What came next was… far beyond Wei WuXian's expectations.

Naturally, after being unjustifiably attacked, Wei WuXian tried his best to remove the blindfold. He was almost sorry for putting it on first. Almost.

Unfortunately, the powerful demon cultivation founder whom everyone had begun to fear was embarrassingly and easily incapacitated. No matter how much he struggled, kicked, and tried to throw talismans, the grip on his wrists did not give way in the least.

Wei WuXian did not give up. Or at least he wasn't in his plans to do so until he felt a soft, unexpected touch on his lips.

There were many stories about Patriarch Yiling's "conquests" swarming in the world of cultivation. However, those stories gave him too much credit.

Wei WuXian was a born flirt. He was always complimenting the girls he considered attractive, but he never took things further than that.

In other words, he had no experience.

Wei WuXian was in fourth place in the ranking of young masters, a part of that was due to his talent and abilities, but his good looks were also a major motive in that.
Perhaps, if Wei WuXian wasn't saving his first kiss for someone special, if he wasn't looking forward to what his parents once had, he wouldn't have been so surprised by what was happening to him now.

After the brief moment of shock, Wei WuXian began to fight much stronger.

Strangely, this was not for the expected reasons. More than claiming or ending the kiss, what Wei WuXian wanted was to remove the blindfold. He wanted and needed to discover that maiden was bold enough to defeat him in this way.

Not like that, such thoughts evaporated when he perceived how the person who invaded his personal space was trembling.

Wei WuXian might be a demonic cultivator, but he was nowhere near as cruel as rumors said he was. For example, he did not see himself capable of forcing a girl who had surely summoned all her courage to express her feelings, to expose herself (as curious as he was).

In this way, Wei WuXian simply gave up and allowed himself to be kissed.

The touch at first had been soft, tender. Inexperienced. Of course, this was only until the warm, unfamiliar sensation led him to gasp for air, and his attacker decided to seize the opportunity.

Wei WuXian had no comparison, but felt that nothing could be better than what was happening. His head was dizzy, but not to the point of not being aware of what was going on.

His senses were no longer those of a cultivator, but they were focused enough to compensate for that weakness.

I could feel it all, too much.

From the hands that held his wrists, to the lips and teeth that seemed to want to devour him and claim him completely, and the agitated beats of his heart.

Wei WuXian would be lying if he said that he didn't get lost in the haze of emotions, but there was something that brought him out of his stupor.

At first he hadn't realized it due to surprise, and then due to how good he was feeling. But afterwards it was simply impossible to ignore.

Wei WuXian felt a familiar scent.

Almost immediately he thought of someone, but as soon as he did he tried to convince himself that he was wrong.

It was impossible.

But, in the same way, it was impossible to be wrong. As bad as his memory was, Wei WuXian was still competent enough not to mistake a scent that he had scented no more than an hour ago.

In this way, the identity of his attacker was exposed.

It shouldn't have been possible for Wei WuXian to be more shocked after being "robbed" in broad daylight, but it was.

At the sudden revelation, Wei WuXian was so shocked that he couldn't help but gasp again. However, there seemed to be something different about this one because the person immediately stopped.

After breathing for a moment, Wei WuXian opened his mouth only to close it again and again. Part of him wanted to call out that name, but another was too terrified that he was wrong.

At first when Wei WuXian had been completely oblivious to such a possibility it had been fine to think that he was dealing with a maiden. But now, having formed the image of Lan WangJi in his head, there was no way Wei WuXian could accept the idea of having kissed someone else.

If the heat on his face was any indication, Wei WuXian was blushing.

The very idea of thinking that the person who had left him dizzy and weak was Lan WangJi should have been absurd, unbelievable, but the reality was that Wei WuXian liked it.
The feeling in his stomach was just as his parents had described it almost a lifetime ago. Or at least, that's how Wei WuXian believed it would feel to have butterflies in your stomach.

That was when it hit him. Strong and hard.

He wanted it to be Lan WangJi.

Wei WuXian couldn't help gasping for the third time.

Even though he and Lan Zhan were men, even though he had tried his best to ward off the man who despised his cultivation method, even though the man had shown him many times that he was indifferent, that he hated him.

Even despite all that, Wei WuXian wanted it to be him.

He was in love with Lan WangJi.

What came after that was a million frantic thoughts, memories of their interactions and how he always seemed to be looking for a figure in white wherever he went.
Looking back, Wei WuXian couldn't tell for sure when it started. Perhaps, and from the beginning.

All of his attempts to attract Lan WangJi's attention, all of his praise for his appearance, character, and talent, as well as the not-so-casual touches that he strove to pursue… they were because he wanted his attention, his eyes on him. Not to be friends, but for something else.

It was so easy to realize now that Wei WuXian couldn't help but be horrified that he hadn't noticed earlier.

Staggering, Wei WuXian stood up. He needed to ask. Even though he could be wrong, even when he was terrified and nervous, he needed to know.

Without thinking, Wei WuXian called out to him; "Lan Zhan."

Until now, Wei WuXian hadn't tried to remove the bandage, which was perhaps why, he hadn't heard the footsteps of someone leaving. Fortunately, his words completely eliminated his attacker's chances of escape.

Wei WuXian paid special attention to the thief's reaction, so the sound of the man gasping for air did not escape him.

Without giving Lan WangJi time to compose himself or flee, Wei WuXian removed the blindfold.

At first, he couldn't help but squint at how blinding the light was, but after a few seconds he focused.

Lan WangJi was… strangely composed. Just a moment ago he had stolen Wei WuXian's breath with a completely unexpected passion, and somehow he still managed to appear as neat and distant as ever.

If there was anything wrong with him it would be the emotional in his eyes, and the stark contrast between his pale face and the pink that covered the tips of his ears.

Wei WuXian opened his mouth and thought of many things to say, but couldn't find the words. And it was that everything had hit him so suddenly.

It was just a coincidence.

If Wei WuXian hadn't stumbled, and hadn't caught Lan Wangji's scent just before the kiss, maybe he wouldn't be standing here about to confess feelings that he didn't even know he had.

If Lan Wangji hadn't taken the opportunity to step forward and take a chance, Wei WuXian would never have realized anything until, perhaps, it was too late.

It was at that moment that Wei WuXian remembered the words that Lan Zhan had been saying to him, 'Come to Gusu with me'.

Every time he listened to them, he got angry. He always thought that Lan WangJi hated him. It was not easy for him to accept that the person he always wanted to get close to, and the one he most admired for being fair, kind, and beautiful would despise him to the point of wanting to lock him up and punish him for choosing the only path available to him without a golden core.

Now, however, thinking about it Wei WuXian could recall things that he did not notice at the time. The barely perceptible plea and urgency, for example.

It was there that he thought 'Lan Zhan never wanted to hurt me', and 'Lan Zhan ... always wanted to protect me'.

Wei WuXian couldn't help but laugh, it was a bitter laugh, and sad. One that showed the regret of not having realized it before, of having been alone and angry when he could have gotten everything he ever wanted.

However, before he could worry Lan Zhan, he stopped.

There was much to regret, but there was much more to be thankful for.

Thus, Wei WuXian smiled. It was one filled with joy and satisfaction, one that earned his a surprised and slightly wary look from Lan Wangji.

It was strange how he could now notice those details so easily.

Wei WuXian fixed his gaze on Lan Wangji's and asked, "Lan Zhan, does that offer still stand?"

Seeing Lan Wangji lost was satisfying. The man couldn't help repeating "Offer?"

Wei WuXian nodded and smiled "Go back to Gusu with you."

Lan Wangji did not reply. After freezing, he seemed to re-evaluate Wei WuXian, and he should have found what he was looking for because the tension in his shoulders disappeared. He even seemed to smile as he answered; "Always".

It was a fleeting thing, Wei WuXian wasn't sure he had seen correctly, but even if it was just a hallucination, it was the most beautiful smile he had ever seen, enough to take his breath away.

From there Wei WuXian knew he was lost.

Wei WuXian, the demonic cultivator that everyone feared had been completely defeated by the esteemed Hanguang-Jun.

Not only that, he had lost terribly.

Although, it is not like you are not satisfied with the result.

Radiant and much happier than he had been in a long time, Wei WuXian extended his hand and Lan Wangji easily reached out to take it. "So Lan Er-gege, how are you going to punish me?"

Lan WangJi briefly watched as Wei WuXian flicked his eyebrows and fluttered his eyelashes in a clear attempt at flirting, then quickly looked away. "Shameless!"

Wei WuXian laughed and pulled Lan WangJi closer to prevent him from leaving, “Lan Zhan, you just took my first kiss! You must take responsibility!"

At that, Lan WangJi turned around again. "First kiss?"

Wei WuXian did not miss the note of distrust present at the revelation. "Yes, first kiss. Or what do you think?"

Lan WangJi was lost in thought and after what seemed like an eternity he slowly untied the ribbon on his forehead and wrapped and tied it around Wei WuXian's wrist.

The latter, always thought that the forehead band was just part of the Cloud Recesses uniform, but Lan WangJi's fury when he touched it several years ago, as well as the solemnity with which he now wrapped it in his hand and the hidden satisfaction in his eyes at the sight of the finished product made his think that maybe things weren't that simple.

He made a mental note to ask Zewu-Jun later, because he didn't feel like his heart was able to bear hearing the answer from Lan Wangji's lips.

Lan WangJi fixed his golden gaze on Wei WuXian's eyes and nodded - "I will take responsibility."

At that, Wei WuXian couldn't help but laugh as he threw himself into Lan WangJi's arms, who just like a little while ago quickly caught him.

With his head resting on Lan WangJi's chest, and hearing his racing heartbeat Wei WuXian realized that no matter what happened, he would probably find a way to move on as long as Lan Zhan was by his side.

He had already left the wide path for a much narrower, dangerous, and unknown one. He had no regrets, as that was the only way to help his brother and win the war against the Wen sect.

However, over time he had realized why no one had tried it before. Little by little he realized that he was changing, always more irritable, more angry, more dangerous.

Even so, in the warmth of Lan WangJi's embrace he threw all those worries out of his mind.

For the first time in a long time, he felt safe and at peace.

The motto of the YunmengJiang Sect was, after all, try the impossible. No one had ever walked the path of demon cultivation, and likewise, no one ever found a way to make it safe for the user.

He already did the former while trying to survive in the burial mounds, why couldn't he find a solution now that he would have the most talented cultivator of his generation by his side?

Wei WuXian slightly raised his head and looked at the face that could easily dazzle anyone, "Lan Zhan, thank you."

Lan WangJi tensed and quickly recovered. He hesitated for a moment, but then continued "There is no need for 'thank you' and 'sorry' between us."

Wei WuXian nodded and then leaned down to catch Lan WangJi's lips again. "Now we are the same."

Without giving him time to respond, he quickly took his hand and dragged him back. He no longer had any interest in the competition.

"Where we go?" Lan WangJi asked after recovering.

Wei WuXian laughed, "To celebrate and inform everyone that Hanguan-Jun managed to subdue and drag the horrible patriarch Yiling to Gusu to punish him of course!"

Lan WangJi "..."

Not caring for the lack of response, Wei WuXian kept babbling; "Also, I think maybe I should thank Jin ZiXun for being an idiot, think about it, if you hadn't caught me when I stumbled I would never have known that you were bold enough to attack someone like that."

Wei WuXian wasn't looking at Lan WangJi, but from how he squeezed his hand he could tell that the words affected him.

Lan WangJi; "I ... I know I was wrong ... it wasn't ..."

Wei WuXian, noticing the struggle brewing inside his head, cut him off, “Don't be sorry. Truth be told, Lan Zhan, you left me dizzy. I didn't know you were so talented! If that's how you kiss, I can't even imagine how good you'll be when…!"

"Wei Ying!" Lan WangJi chided him.

Wei WuXian, still smiling, continued; "I know, I know. But seriously speaking, I don't know if it can wait until we get married. Forget celebrating with others, maybe I should drag you to an inn right now, or we could do it right here too."

Wei WuXian felt Lan WangJi pick up his pace and beat him to it. "Remember your words."

Chapter Text

Jin ZiXuan didn't quite know what to expect from the hunt on Phoenix Mountain.

Of course, the uncertainty he felt had nothing to do with the competition itself, but the fact that he would see Jiang YanLi again.

The same woman she once looked down on and thought unworthy of being her average partner simply because of being too much.

And, ironically, the same woman who was never able to leave her thoughts after actually meeting her. The same one that somehow made him want to be a better man to deserve her and give her everything she wanted.

Jin ZiXuan was self-aware enough to know that there was a problem or two in his personality, but there wasn't much he could do to eliminate years of nurturing and development from his sect, all at once.

Which is why perhaps, he let Jiang YanLi believe that his invitation to accompany his is due to his mother and not his true wishes.

Luckily, all his uncertainty was for nothing, since in the end, contrary to what he expected and feared, everything turned out fine, of course, if the permanent scar etched in his memory was overlooked, and the trauma that would prevent him from returning to look one of your brothers-in-law and your partner in the eye for a long, long time.

It all started, precisely, with the happy hunt.

Jin ZiXuan was abnormally tense and nervous from being alone with the first girl who made him feel something real, so it's no wonder that he made a mistake.

A simple carelessness on his part put him in danger, and from there things just moved on on their own. The words he wanted to say so badly, but couldn't help but stutter in his head, spilled out.

Even though he tried, he couldn't mask the worry and guilt. He also couldn't ignore the spark of hope that ignited in Jiang YanLi's eyes when these two things were evident on his face.

In this way, Jin ZiXuan, before even realizing it, found himself in front of a small crowd (his cousin, his mother, and some other members of his sect) confessing to Jiang YanLi that it was he who wanted to spend time with her (and not his mother who forced him), because he found out she was an amazing woman.

He yelled at her that he really liked her and that he hoped he could give her a second chance to woo her, despite having been an idiot, a blind man, and having hurt her.

As soon as he finished speaking, Jin ZiXuan regretted it. Not because he was sorry, of course, but because he was too impulsive.

He believed that Maiden Jiang deserved more than an open confession in the middle of a mountain full of corpses and other specters.

He didn't have thick skin, and god knew he wasn't as shameless as Wei Wuxian, so as soon as the reality of what he had just said settled in his brain he was about to flee to think of a way to kill himself silently without hurting his mother, and if he was lucky enough, maybe Maiden Jiang, but he didn't.

Not out of lack of desire, but because a firm yet gentle grip on his wrist stopped him.

What came next, Jin ZiXuan would never forget.

Not only did Jiang YanLi not reject him or make fun of him (he knew that she wouldn't do something like that, but he couldn't stop thinking about that possibility because he believed he really deserved it). Quite the contrary, and she even smiled at him.

As the heir to the Jin sect, and the son of a lustful womanizer, Jin ZiXuan had seen many beauties. However, the smile Maiden Jiang gave him somehow managed to dazzle him like no other woman ever did.

The simple gesture made him believe that he had lived only for that moment (later, on his wedding day and still later, the day he held his son in his arms, he would realize that he simply lived to find Jiang YanLi and make her his wife).

Jin ZiXuan promised himself that as long as he lived, he would do his best to make that woman happy, and thus, if he was lucky, perhaps he could see her smile the same way for the rest of his life.

Jin ZiXuan looked around and noticed that it was again just him and Maiden Jiang. His mother and the others must have come at some point, which he was really grateful for because he didn't think he had the face to face them in the near future.

Radiant, Jin ZiXuan invited Maiden Jiang to continue him walk around, a decision that he would regret for the rest of his life, after all, he would witness a scene that shattered his understanding of the world.

Jin ZiXuan had experienced many things. As someone who grew up hearing his parents argue every day, and seeing hypocritical people who only approached him for convenience, he always thought that nothing could surprise him, much less to the point of leaving him speechless and stammering.

It was too naive.

And it is that he still had something else to see before having that ability.

Jin ZiXuan was a man who learned from his mistakes, so this time he was much more attentive to his surroundings. Which is why, as soon as he heard cautious footsteps, he signaled to Maiden Jiang to be silent.

In this way, it was much easier to approach without being noticed.

It was there that Jin ZiXuan thought he was a complete fool.

He had been dreaming the entire time.

The first part of his dream had been sweet, perfect. He had confessed in the most shameful and horrible way, but he still got a positive response from Jiang YanLi.

Unfortunately, at some point, his beautiful dream turned into a shocking and shocking nightmare.

Why else would he be watching Wei Wuxian and Lan WangJi kiss wildly and desperately in the middle of the forest?

Jin ZiXuan knew there were a lot of short sleeves out there, but he never paid attention to any of them, partly because he didn't care, and partly because it had nothing to do with him.

In their world, cultivators preferred to keep such things for themselves rather than become gossip to others.

Seeing two men kissing like that in the forest during a competition despite knowing that the disciples and leaders of the four great sects were present would already be too shocking for the young heir of the Jin sect, but if the identities of those men They were the infamous Patriarch Yiling and the esteemed Huanguan-Jun, it was completely normal for Jin ZiXuan's brain to stop and go through something like his first out of body experience.

Open-mouthed, confused and frankly terrified and horrified in equal parts, Jin ZiXuan could only compose himself after who knows how long when he remembered that the sister of one of the protagonists of said show was at his side.

Jin ZiXuan couldn't allow his future wife to be scarred for life, and by the way, neither could he allow him to expose them and force them to face such brash ones.

Still stiff, Jin ZiXuan turned around to warn Jiang YanLi to leave as quickly as possible and to do their best to forget that this happened in the first place.

However, when he turned around he found something that upset him even more.

Jiang YanLi found himself smiling as he watched the couple do everything but talk.

Jin ZiXuan did not know if he should feel bewildered at the beauty that presented itself to his eyes, or the happiness and ecstasy that emanated from her in that situation.

Clearing his throat, Jin ZiXuan tried to get his attention, only to end up making a completely strange noise.

It was not be for lowerly. Even his vocal cords seemed to have frozen after such a large impact.

Jiang YanLi seemed to take pity on him, because he took his hand and patted him on the shoulder.

It was only so that Jin ZiXuan was able to calm down.

Not daring to look at what those two were at, Jin ZiXuan tried his best to pretend that it was just him and the maiden Jiang in the forest. "Maiden Jiang ... y-you ... t-they ... did you know?" He said awkwardly.

Jiang YanLi put a hand to his mouth to try to hide the amused smile that crept across his lips and coughed before confessing “I have long known that A-Xian has feelings for the second young master Lan, but he didn't know it was reciprocated".

Jin ZiXuan opened his mouth in shock, even though he had seen it with his own, hearing it from Jiang YanLi was very different.

Incredulous, Jin ZiXuan pinched his wrist, only to find that no, he was not dreaming.

Jiang YanLi must have seen the bewilderment in his expression, so he patiently explained, “A-Xian's feelings date back a long time, but he hadn't realized it. Whenever he spoke of the second young master Lan, he did so by excusing himself that he wanted to be his friend, and I thought it would be better for him to find out on his own".

Jin ZiXuan weakly nodded, and for some reason unknown to him, he turned around to keep watching.

He didn't want to look, but the man in question was his future brother-in-law. Furthermore, if those two really decided to go all the way in the middle of the forest, it was your obligation as heir to the Jin sect to interrupt them to prevent them from being embarrassed in front of others. After all, Wei Wuxian was part of the Jiang Sect and his actions would involve Sect Leader Jiang and Jiang YanLi.

Fortunately for him, it seemed that Wei Wuxian and Lan WangJi had already calmed down.

From where he was standing he could hear their conversation, although frankly Jin ZiXuan did his best not to pay attention to him.

He simply concentrated on watching as Wei Wuxian took Lan WangJi's hand and dragged him in his direction.

Jin ZiXuan couldn't help but panic.

He didn't want to be discovered. Not only because it would be extremely awkward to reveal himself under those circumstances, but also because he didn't want Wei Wuxian to interrupt his time with his sister.

Fortunately for him, Wei Wuxian was too busy making fun of how good Lan WangJi would be in bed to pay attention to them, and Lan WangJi, the same man that Jin ZiXuan considered, had the sensitivity of a stone, was trying his best to "berate" Wei Wuxian, even though he didn't seem to want him to stop at all.

If that was really the case, wouldn't he have already used the silencing spell?

Worst of all, at some point, Wei Wuxian even suggested doing it right there in the woods, in the middle of the competition!

Jin ZiXuan could only comfort himself by saying that Hanguang-Jun had enough common sense for the two of them, after all, he was the embodiment of the wall of discipline, the disciple that Lan QiRen was most proud of.

If Jin ZiXuan was sure of one thing, it was that hell would freeze over before Lan WangJi accepted such a proposal.

Or at least it was for something like two seconds.

Jin ZiXuan felt goose bumps rise upon hearing Lan WangJi's terse "Remember your words" reply.

By then, Jin ZiXuan simply stopped caring.

Those two were not ashamed!

Seeing that Wei Wuxian continued to bother Lan WangJi, and seeing how the latter lost his patience and cornered him against a tree and then started again from the beginning in a much more intimate and shameless way, Jin ZiXuan decided to save the little innocence that fit his eyes and Maiden Jiang's, and get out of there as soon as possible.

And perhaps help save everyone else's mental stability by putting a couple of barriers around.

Much later, when he formally asked for Jiang YanLi's hand in marriage, he would take it upon himself to tell Wei Wuxian how much he owed him.
