Always Been Yours

Work Text:

Jing City had two unspoken rules: 1) don’t tempt fate, and 2) don’t touch Dr. Chen Yuzhi or his little sister Keying.  Now, the first rule made sense because, hello, who would want to tempt fate?  But the second one?  Now, I’m sure you’re probably wondering where that one came from and that rule actually came from local mob boss Jiang Yuelou, whom everyone in Jing City knew was very protective of the Chen siblings.  Did they know why he was so protective of the siblings?  No.  But were they going to ask him?  ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It was a bright and sunny day as Chen Yuzhi sat at his desk, reading one of his medical textbooks when a familiar leather jacket wearing figure stepped into the clinic, making a beeline for his desk before sitting on the edge of it.

“Hello A-Zhi” the figure purred, making Chen Yuzhi look up in surprise before he smiled fondly.

“Yuelou” he replied.  The leather jacket wearing figure, local mob boss Jiang Yuelou, smiled just as fondly.

“How’s work?” he asked, crossing his arms.  Chen Yuzhi shrugged his shoulders.

“It’s a bit slow today.  Thankfully no one’s come in bloody or broken” he replied, giving Jiang Yuelou a knowing look.  Jiang Yuelou huffed.

“Yuzhi, you know I only beat up those people because they’re bad and they deserve it” he reminded.  Chen Yuzhi chuckled and nodded.

“I know, I know, I’m just saying” he stated before he frowned.

“Isn’t it dangerous for you to be out right now?  You normally don’t come to visit me during the daytime, only towards closing” he stated.  Jiang Yuelou waved his hand.

“Jin Dacheng is off doing who knows what and is too lazy to try and catch me, which honestly, he couldn’t catch me if he tried” he replied.  Chen Yuzhi frowned.

“That’s true, but he could use leverage” he reminded.  Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he reached out, gently stroking Chen Yuzhi’s cheek.

“Everyone in Jing City knows you belong to me” he replied as he pulled his hand away.  Chen Yuzhi blinked at him with his big bambi eyes before he huffed.

“Belong to you?  Isn’t that a little possessive of you, Yuelou?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.  Jiang Yuelou smiled and nodded.

“Of course.  You and Keying are under my protection; therefore, you belong to me.  I won’t let anything happen to you” he declared.  Chen Yuzhi chuffed and crossed his arms.

“Keying and I can take care of ourselves just fine, Yuelou.  We don’t need mob protection” he argued.  Jiang Yuelou shrugged.

“Maybe.  Doesn’t mean I’m going to stop” he replied.  Chen Yuzhi looked at him and Jiang Yuelou looked right back, both men staring at each other before Chen Yuzhi conceded first and looked away, sighing heavily.

“As long as your “protection” doesn’t interfere with me seeing patients, both here and for house calls, then I guess…I don’t see a problem with it” he murmured.  Jiang Yuelou smiled before he leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Chen Yuzhi’s forehead.

“There’s a good boy” he whispered.  Chen Yuzhi tsked and gave him a gentle shove, but there wasn’t a lot of anger behind it, since he did have a small smile on his lips.

“Yuelou” he murmured.  Jiang Yuelou chuckled as he reached out, giving Chen Yuzhi’s cheek a gentle pinch.

“You’re so cute” he murmured.  Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened as he looked at Jiang Yuelou in shock.

“Jiang Yuelou!” he exclaimed.  Jiang Yuelou smiled cheekily, causing Chen Yuzhi to reach out and pinch his side, making the mob boss jump in surprise before looking at Chen Yuzhi, who smirked.

“That’s what you get” he declared.  Jiang Yuelou smirked as he slipped off his desk and slowly stalked around it towards Chen Yuzhi, who looked at him with wide eyes.

“Oh no you don’t!  Jiang Yuelou, don’t you dare!” he exclaimed as he got up out of his seat and slowly backed away as Jiang Yuelou slowly came closer.

“Jiang Yuelou, don’t—” he continued, just as Jiang Yuelou rushed forward, causing Chen Yuzhi to let out a surprise laugh before he darted away, Jiang Yuelou chasing after him.  They played a quick game of tag, Chen Yuzhi darting and weaving away from Jiang Yuelou, a bright smile on his face while Jiang Yuelou had a playfully determined look on his face as he chased after Chen Yuzhi until he was finally able to trap the young doctor against his cabinets.

“Ah, no!” Chen Yuzhi exclaimed as Jiang Yuelou began to tickle his sides, causing him to burst into a fit of giggles.

“Jiang Yuelou!  Jiang Yuelou, no, stop!” he exclaimed, squirming and wiggling as more giggles kept slipping out.  Jiang Yuelou smirked as he continued to tickle Chen Yuzhi until Chen Yuzhi was panting heavily, his sides aching from laughing so hard.  He then leaned forward and rested his head in the croak of Jiang Yuelou’s neck, letting out a huff.

“You’re so cruel” he murmured.  Jiang Yuelou chuckled as he reached up and gently rubbed Chen Yuzhi’s neck, Chen Yuzhi letting out a soft hum.

“Maybe.  But you know I’m not like this with anyone else” he stated.  Chen Yuzhi lifted his head from Jiang Yuelou’s neck and looked into the mob boss’s eyes, his own eyes soft.

“I know” he replied as he leaned up, pressing a kiss to Jiang Yuelou’s lips.  Jiang Yuelou smiled and reached up, cupping his face in his hands as he deepened the kiss, causing Chen Yuzhi to let out a soft moan.  He was quite grateful that today was a slow day because, good lord, how embarrassing would it be for one of his patients to walk in and see him kissing Jing City’s most dangerous mob boss.  That would cause quite the scandal (not like their relationship wasn’t scandalous in and of itself).  They then pulled away, both men smiling fondly at each other before Jiang Yuelou rested his forehead against Chen Yuzhi’s forehead, letting out a content hum as he rubbed his thumb up and down Chen Yuzhi’s side.  Chen Yuzhi shivered slightly before he sighed.

“You should go.  It’s not that I don’t want you here, but it’s not safe for you” he whispered.  Jiang Yuelou hummed before he pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, both men staying like that for a moment before Jiang Yuelou pulled away.

“I’ll be back tonight, okay?” he murmured.  Chen Yuzhi nodded, letting out a mental whine when Jiang Yuelou stepped away, turning and heading out of the clinic.  Chen Yuzhi watched him walk away before he cleared his throat and straightened his hair and suit vest, making sure that no one would be able to tell that he was in a relationship (let alone in love) with a mob boss.

That evening, when Jiang Yuelou returned to the clinic, he noticed that the doors were wide open and the lights were still on, which was unusual because Chen Yuzhi always shut the doors and turned off the lights in the evening whenever he would wait outside with Keying for Jiang Yuelou.  He quickly walked over to the clinic, eyes widening when he noticed the mess that was inside; it looked like there had been some sort of struggle.

‘What the hell happened here?’ he thought to himself before he growled and looked around, noticing a young boy hiding in the shadows nearby.

“Boy.  Come here” he ordered.  The boy nodded and slipped out of the shadows as Jiang Yuelou pointed to the clinic.

“Did you see what happened here?” he demanded.  The boy nodded.

“The little girl came back from school and as soon as she stepped in the clinic, these two men grabbed her then another two men grabbed the doctor when he heard her screaming” he answered.  Jiang Yuelou growled and looked up at the clinic before he looked at the boy.

“Did you see where they took them?” he demanded.  The boy shook his head.

“No.  But I can get the word out” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou nodded.

“Do that” he ordered.  The boy nodded and turned, running off into the night as Jiang Yuelou let out a growl.  Someone dared to kidnap his Chen Yuzhi and his Keying?  Someone was going to die.

Meanwhile, inside a dock warehouse, Chen Yuzhi and Keying were on their knees, bags covering their heads.  Suddenly the bags were removed and light flooded the world around them, making both siblings flinch at the brightness before Chen Yuzhi looked around.

‘Where the hell are we?’ he thought to himself, just as Keying looked over at him.

“Gege” she whimpered.  He looked back at her with wide eyes before he smiled softly.

“It’ll be okay, Keying.  Everything’s going to be fine” he assured, just as a man walked over and slapped him.

“Shut up” he hissed.  Chen Yuzhi’s head snapped to the side, hissing in pain as he glared up at the man.

“Why did you take us?” he demanded.  Just then, another man came out of the shadows and walked over to them, pulling out a dagger before kneeling before Keying, pressing the dagger to her throat.

“I suggest you be quiet, Dr. Chen, unless you want to watch me slit your dear sister’s throat" he threatened.  Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened but gritted his teeth and did what he was told as the man kneeling before his sister reached out and grabbed her face, turning it to the left and to the right.

“We’ll have fun with this one” he mused.  Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened and he snarled.

“Like hell you will!  Get your filthy hands off her” he roared.  The man just calmly pressed the dagger to Keying’s throat, causing her to squeak in fear before she looked over at Chen Yuzhi.

“Gege” she whimpered.  Chen Yuzhi growled but snapped his mouth shut as the man removed the dagger from Keying’s throat and gently trailed the tip down her body, causing her to shiver and flinch.

“Such a pretty young thing” he purred.  Chen Yuzhi shook his head; he couldn’t just sit here and watch his little sister be sexual assaulted, so he pushed himself back on his haunches before he launched himself at the man, barreling into him.  He then looked over at Keying and nodded.

“Run Keying!” he shouted.  Keying nodded and pushed herself to her feet, just as more men came out of the shadows in a swarm.  Keying’s eyes widened before she took off in another direction, grateful that she was small enough to slip through the crates that the larger men couldn’t.  She decided to hide there for a few moments in the dark, also grateful that the street children played with her and taught her their ways of surviving on the street.  She waited, listening as the men shouted, “keep searching” and “make sure she doesn’t escape!”  When she was sure that they were no longer near the crates, she quietly slipped out from behind them and quietly crept towards the warehouse door, which someone was stupid enough to leave open.  She then slipped out the door and made a break for it, running away from the warehouse as she headed back towards the city.

While Keying was running away, probably heading off to find Jiang Yuelou, the men whom Chen Yuzhi had tackled shoved him off before pushing himself to his feet.

“You…” he growled.  Chen Yuzhi huffed as he looked up at the man.

“Do whatever you want to me, but you will never touch my sister” he hissed.  The man growled before he kicked him in the sternum, causing him to cry out as he crashed to the ground, curling into a fetal position as pain radiated through his body.  The man then motioned a few other men over before they began to go to town on Chen Yuzhi, kicking him until he spat blood.

“String him up” one of the men ordered.  While Chen Yuzhi laid on the ground, barely conscious, a few of the men walked over and untied his hands from behind his back and moved them to his front, retying them.  They then slipped a hook in between the ropes, making sure that it wouldn’t slip before one of the men ran over to the crank and began cranking the wheel, slowly lifting Chen Yuzhi off the ground.  He was a foot off the ground before one of the men walked over, carrying a whip, and whipped him.  Chen Yuzhi let out a cry of pain as another man whipped him, causing him to cry out again.  He was then whipped repeatedly, his body hurting so bad, both from the whipping and from the kicks he had just gotten a few moments ago.

“That’s enough.  We don’t want to kill him just yet” the head man declared.  Chen Yuzhi blinked deliriously at them but his eyes just fluttered as his head dropped, unconsciousness taking over.

Keying continued to run through the streets of Jing City, not really knowing where she was going or even where she was.  Since it was so dark, she also couldn’t see where she was running, so she didn’t realize that there was a person in front of her until she slammed into them and fell on her ass as a result.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going.  I’m so sorry—” she stammered, tears coming to her eyes.

“Keying?” a voice breathed, causing her to look up to see Jiang Yuelou looking down at her with horror.  The minute she saw his face, she let out a whimper.

“Gege” she sobbed.  Jiang Yuelou quickly knelt down and looked her over before looking at her face.

“Did they hurt you?” he asked.  Keying shook her head, just as Jiang Yuelou noticed that her hands were bound behind her back.  He let out a growl before he reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife, flicking it open before he reached over her and sliced through the ropes.  Once the ropes were off, Jiang Yuelou bundled Keying into his arms, holding her tightly as she wrapped her arms around his neck and curled into him, sobbing.

“Keying.  Oh, my Keying” he breathed, relief coursing through his body as he held her tightly.  Keying sobbed harder, causing him to gently rub her back.

“Shh, shh sweetheart.  It’s okay.  You’re safe now.  You’re safe now, baby, shh” he soothed.  Keying clung to him tighter, making him sigh heavily as he rubbed her back.

         “Shh, shh…shhh” he hushed.

“Gege…he…he’s…” Keying sobbed, causing Jiang Yuelou to look at her with wide eyes.

“Where’s your brother?” he asked.  Keying sniffled and tried to take deep breaths between her sobs, only to cough from gasping in too much air.

“Shh, shh, take your time, sweetheart.  Take your time” Jiang Yuelou soothed, rubbing her back.  Keying took a moment to catch her breath before she looked at Jiang Yuelou.

“At the docks.  There’s a warehouse there.  We were kept there.  It’s the one closest to the ocean.  It’s the only one that has it’s door open slightly” she panted, her voice rushed and panicked.  Jiang Yuelou nodded.

“Okay.  Okay baby” he soothed as he pulled Keying against him, Keying clinging to him tightly.

“You’ll save him right, gege?” she whimpered.  Jiang Yuelou nodded as he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

“Of course I will.  Of course I will” he promised.  He then stood to his feet, Keying still cradled in his arms, as he turned and headed towards his headquarters, where his two subordinates Sun Yongren and Song Rong, were waiting.

“Sir” Song Rong greeted as Jiang Yuelou walked over to them, Keying clinging to him.

“Watch her.  I’m going to get reinforcements” he ordered before he looked down at Keying.

“Keying, you can trust these men, okay?” he murmured.  Keying nodded and sniffled as Jiang Yuelou carefully put her down before turning and walking away.

“Boss, who are you calling for backup?” Sun Yongren asked as Song Rong walked over and gently placed a hand on Keying’s shoulder.

“Jin Dacheng” Jiang Yuelou called back, making Song Rong and Sun Yongren looked at each other with wide eyes before they looked back at him.

“JIN DACHENG?!” they exclaimed, but Jiang Yuelou was already gone.

After leaving Keying with Song Rong and Sun Yongren, Jiang Yuelou made a beeline for the Jingcheng City Police Station, storming inside.  He then headed upstairs to Jin Dacheng’s office, bursting through the door without even knocking, making the police officer look up in shock.

“Jiang Yuelou?  What the hell are you doing here?” he demanded.  Jiang Yuelou stormed over and stood before him, looking him in the eyes.

“I need your help” he declared.  Jin Dacheng frowned.

“My help?  With what?” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou took a deep breath, trying not to lose his temper.

“With getting Chen Yuzhi back.  He’s been kidnapped” he replied.  Jin Dacheng raised an eyebrow.

“Your doctor’s been kidnapped?” he asked, surprised.  Jiang Yuelou nodded sharply.

“And I need you and your men as reinforcements” he stated.  Jin Dacheng huffed.

“More like we’re your cleanup crew” he argued.  Jiang Yuelou smirked and shrugged.

“Well, that’d work too” he agreed.  Jin Dacheng looked at him before he sighed.

“What’s in it for me?” he asked.  Jiang Yuelou frowned.

“What do you want?” he replied.  Jin Dacheng hummed, pretending to think, when Jiang Yuelou slammed his hand down on his desk.

“Jin Dacheng.  We don’t have time for your bullshit.  Chen Yuzhi could be dead for all we know and if he is, then Keying isn’t going to forgive me and then I will wreck absolute havoc on this city.  Do you understand me?” he hissed, glaring at Jin Dacheng.  Jin Dacheng’s eyes widened before he sighed and nodded.

“Fine, fine, fine.  I know the rules, I won’t tempt fate” he promised as he stood to his feet and picked up his phone.  He then dialed a number and placed the receiver to his ear, the line soon connecting.

“Gather the men” he barked before he hung up and looked at Jiang Yuelou.

“Go.  We’ll be right behind” he stated.  Jiang Yuelou smirked.

“Thanks” he thanked before he turned and rushed out of his office.  Jin Dacheng watched him leave before he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“He’s gonna give me more god damn gray hairs” he grumbled before he grabbed his gun and coat, heading out of his office to brief his men on the mission.

Jiang Yuelou then headed back to his headquarters, where Song Rong, Sun Yongren, and Keying were waiting.

“Get your things” Jiang Yuelou ordered, looking at Sun Yongren and Song Rong.  The two men nodded, turning and heading off to get their guns while Jiang Yuelou stepped forward and knelt before Keying.

“You stay here and be a good girl, okay?  I’ll bring your gege home” he promised.  Keying nodded as tears filled her eyes.

“Please, gege” she whimpered.  Jiang Yuelou smiled softly as he leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

“Don’t worry sweetheart.  I’ll be right back” he murmured.  Keying sniffled and nodded as Sun Yongren and Song Rong returned, Song Rong tossing a gun towards Jiang Yuelou.  Jiang Yuelou caught the gun before he turned and walked out, Sun Yongren and Song Rong flanking him while Keying remained behind, sniffling as she waved goodbye, hoping and praying that they would all come home safely.

At the warehouse, Chen Yuzhi was fading in and out of consciousness, his arms aching from having to hang from the hook for an ungodly amount of time.  After he had passed out the first time, the men had hoisted him higher into the air until he was a good ten, twenty feet off the ground.  As he hung there, his mind kept drifting off to memories of himself, Jiang Yuelou, and Keying; the three of them laughing and enjoying wontons together, the three of them cuddling on the couch together with Xiao Bai resting on Jiang Yuelou’s lap, the game of tag he and Jiang Yuelou played in his clinic that ended with tickles and a heated kiss.  Just thinking of Jiang Yuelou made tears come to his eyes and he knew a few had slipped out because his cheeks were stinging from the salt.

‘Jiang Yuelou…’ he thought to himself before he smiled sadly.

“Take care of Keying for me…” he whispered, just as a wave of unconsciousness washed over him, dragging him under.  Just as he slipped under, the door to the warehouse exploded off of its hinges and Jiang Yuelou, Sun Yongren, and Song Rong stormed in, Jiang Yuelou’s eyes slightly feral.  However, the minute he saw Chen Yuzhi hanging from the hook, his body covered in lashes, blood, and bruises, his eyes widened and he let out a snarl.

“You broke the unspoken rules…now it’s time for you to die” he declared before he started firing off shots, Sun Yongren and Song Rong firing off shots as well.  Jiang Yuelou then began to mow the kidnappers down, his shots hitting the men with deadly accuracy as he made his way towards Chen Yuzhi.  However, before he could get close to the doctor, a throat was cleared loudly, making him look over to see the head kidnapper standing next to the rope that was holding up Chen Yuzhi, a cleaver in his hand.

“Take one more step, Jiang Yuelou and I’ll cut this rope so fast you can’t even catch him” he threatened.  Jiang Yuelou growled and pointed his gun at the man but the man just raised the cleaver behind his head like he was getting to chop.  Jiang Yuelou faltered and took a step back as the man grinned.

“What do you want?” Jiang Yuelou demanded because every god damn villain always wanted something.  The man smiled.

“I want to be able to get out of here.  Unharmed.  Once I leave here, you can have your precious doctor” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou narrowed his eyes.

“Why did you take them in the first place?” he demanded because he wanted to know; he wanted to know why they took his Chen Yuzhi and his Keying.

“Because why not?  Everyone in Jing City knows that they’re your weakness; so I wanted to see what you would do if I took them away” the man replied.  Jiang Yuelou snarled and tightened his grip on his gun.

“Their lives are not something to play with!” he shouted, taking a step forward when the man raised the cleaver again.

“Step back, Jiang Yuelou.  Unless you want to watch your precious doctor’s brain splatter all over this floor” he warned.  Jiang Yuelou snarled again as the man pointed the cleaver at him.

“I’m going now.  You let me leave peacefully, your doctor is yours” he stated.  Jiang Yuelou nodded and remained where he was standing, Song Rong and Sun Yongren also rooted in place as the kidnapper continued out of the warehouse, just as a gunshot rang out.  Sun Yongren, Song Rong, and Jiang Yuelou jumped before they looked over to see Jin Dacheng looked down at the body of the dead kidnapper with disgust.

“This is the guy that took Dr. Chen?” he tsked.  Jiang Yuelou looked at the police officer with wonder before he huffed and shook his head.

“Impeccable timing, Chief Jin” he praised.  Jin Dacheng looked up at him and smiled before he noticed Chen Yuzhi hanging from the ceiling, broken, whipped, and bloody, his smile immediately disappearing as horror replaced it.

“Sweet Jesus” he breathed.  Jiang Yuelou followed his line of sight and when he looked at Chen Yuzhi again, his eyes widened before he began moving towards the crank.

“Song Rong, Yongren.  Help me” he ordered.  Song Rong and Sun Yongren nodded and rushed forward, Jin Dacheng moving with them as they stood underneath Chen Yuzhi’s body while Jiang Yuelou grabbed the crank handle and began lowering him to the ground.  He watched as Jin Dacheng, Song Rong, and Sun Yongren caught Chen Yuzhi’s body and slowly lowered him to the ground, Jin Dacheng slicing the ropes from his wrists.  Chen Yuzhi’s body immediately fell limp in Song Rong and Sun Yongren’s arms, Jiang Yuelou running over to them with wide eyes.

“Yuzhi” he breathed as Jin Dacheng reached out and placed two fingers on Chen Yuzhi’s neck pulse point, holding it there for a moment before he looked over at Jiang Yuelou.

“There’s a pulse, but it’s faint.  We need to get him to a hospital” he declared.  Jiang Yuelou nodded.

“Go.  I trust you with him” he replied.  Jin Dacheng blinked in surprise before he nodded and looked over his shoulder, motioning with his head towards Chen Yuzhi’s body.  Two officers ran forward and carefully took Chen Yuzhi from Song Rong and Sun Yongren, carrying him out of the warehouse as Jin Dacheng looked at the three mob bosss.

“I’ll take my leave” he murmured, Jiang Yuelou nodding in reply.  Jin Dacheng then turned, heading towards the blown off entrance.

“Jin Dacheng” a voice called out, making him stop and turn to see Jiang Yuelou smiling wetly at him.

“Thank you” he croaked.  Jin Dacheng blinked before he dipped his head and turned, continuing out of the warehouse as Jiang Yuelou looked over at Song Rong and Sun Yongren.

“Is this all of them?” he growled.  Song Rong shook his head.

“I’m not sure sir” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou huffed.

“Well, figure it out.  Ask the street urchins, ask other people, just figure out who these bastards are” he ordered.  Song Rong and Sun Yongren nodded and turned, heading out of the warehouse, leaving Jiang Yuelou alone in a warehouse full of bodies and blood.  He looked around at the carnage before he shook his head.

“It’s not enough…I need more blood” he growled before he stormed out of the warehouse, leaving the carnage behind.

Thankfully, Song Rong and Sun Yongren were damn good at their jobs and within a few hours, they had figured out where the rest of the members of the group that had kidnapped Chen Yuzhi were hiding.  Once they had found them, they told Jiang Yuelou, who took his gun, another gun, and a few rounds of bullets before he went to the hideout himself, a strange look in his eyes.  Even Keying didn’t say anything when she saw the look in his eyes, she knew that something was going to happen and whatever it was, it wasn’t going to be pretty.

Jiang Yuelou stormed down the streets of Jing City, murder in his eyes and the urge to kill coursing through his veins.  When people saw him walking down the street, they quickly got out of his way, for they knew that an angry Jiang Yuelou was a dangerous Jiang Yuelou and they didn’t want to be anywhere near the man when he created chaos.  Jiang Yuelou, on the other hand, ignored everyone passing him by as he continued towards his destination: the hideout of the men that kidnapped his Chen Yuzhi.  When he arrived, he kicked down the door and before the men could even comprehend what was happening, Jiang Yuelou pulled out his guns and began firing.  As the men scrambled to hide or grab their own guns to defend themselves, Jiang Yuelou just slowly and calmly made his way through the hideout, mowing everyone in his path down.  It didn’t take for silence to echo throughout the hideout as Jiang Yuelou had promptly and effectively exterminated the remaining men.  While he knew that these men had nothing to do with Chen Yuzhi’s kidnapping, he couldn’t take a chance that it would happen again, so they all had to die.  And he was a mob boss, killing was in his blood.  This was nothing to him.  After his taste for blood was sated, Jiang Yuelou let out a heavy sigh and hummed.

“Good.  They can’t hurt anyone else every again” he murmured before he turned and walked out of the hideout, leaving another trail of carnage in his wake.

Jiang Yuelou then returned to his own hideout, where Keying was waiting for him.

“Keying” he called out, making Keying, who had been sitting on the couch waiting for his return, look up with wide eyes.

“Gege!” she exclaimed, jumping off the couch and running over to him.  Jiang Yuelou knelt down and scooped her up, holding her tightly as she wrapped her arms around his neck.  They hugged each other tightly, Jiang Yuelou gently scratching her back, before Keying pulled back slightly to look into his eyes.

“Did you get rid of the bad guys?” she asked.  Jiang Yuelou smiled and nodded.

“I did.  They can’t hurt anyone ever again” he replied.  Keying smiled tearily before she threw her arms around him again, hugging him tightly.

“Thank you.  Thank you gege” she whispered.  Jiang Yuelou hummed as he turned his head and pressed a gently kiss to her head.

“Of course baby” he murmured.  They stayed like that for a while before Keying pulled back and looked into Jiang Yuelou’s eyes again.

“Can we go see Gege?” she asked.  Jiang Yuelou smiled softly as he put her down, immediately taking her hand.

“Sure we can” he replied.  They then headed out of the headquarters, heading towards the hospital.

When they arrived at the hospital, it didn’t take very long to figure out which room Chen Yuzhi was in, since Jin Dacheng was leaning up against the wall next to it.

“Chief Jin” Jiang Yuelou called out as he and Keying walked over to the man.  Jin Dacheng looked over at him and smirked.

“Boss Jiang” he replied, using Jiang Yuelou’s title, much to Jiang Yuelou’s surprise.  Jin Dacheng then looked down and noticed Keying before he looked back up at Jiang Yuelou.

“You sure you wanna let her see him?  He’s pretty badly beaten” he whispered.  Jiang Yuelou sighed.

“She wants to see her brother.  Who am I to deny her?” he replied.  Jin Dacheng nodded.

“Alright” he agreed.  Jiang Yuelou nodded before he pushed open the hospital room door, stepping inside, Keying and Jin Dacheng following after him.  The minute Keying saw Chen Yuzhi and saw how terrible he look, she let out a keen before she wrenched her hand out of Jiang Yuelou’s and ran over to the bed, standing next to it as tears began to fall.

“Gege…gege…” she whimpered.  Jin Dacheng and Jiang Yuelou watched for a moment before Jin Dacheng glanced over at Jiang Yuelou.

“I’ll leave you alone” he murmured, dipping his head before he turned and walked out.  Jiang Yuelou turned and watched him leave before he followed after him.

“Chief Jin” he called out softly, making Jin Dacheng stop and look back at him.

“Hmm?” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou shook his head.

“How can I ever repay you?” he asked.  Jin Dacheng smirked.

“How about you stop causing trouble in my city?” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou laughed and shook his head.

“You know I can’t do that.  I’m the king of the underworld here in Jing City” he stated.  Jin Dacheng huffed.

“Can’t you just take your doctor and his sister and just…fuck off to some farm in the countryside and let this city have some peace?” he asked.  Jiang Yuelou chuffed.

“You know you’d be bored without my ass giving you grief” he replied.  Jin Dacheng huffed again.

“No, your ass is giving me fucking gray hairs, that’s what your ass is doing” he playfully snapped.  Jiang Yuelou smiled before he turned serious.

“Jin Dacheng, I mean it.  How can I repay you” he asked.  Jin Dacheng hummed thoughtfully before he smirked.

“Become a police officer” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou looked at him with wide eyes.

“You serious?” he asked.  Jin Dacheng shrugged.

“I don’t see why not.  You can still catch the bad guys while retaining your mob connections, if that sweetens the deal for you” he stated.  Jiang Yuelou narrowed his eyes at him before he smirked.

“You just want me to join the force so you can stop doing so much work, right?” he asked.  Jin Dacheng smirked.

“Maybe” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou was quiet before he looked at Jin Dacheng.

“Let me think about it” he stated.  Jin Dacheng nodded.

“Think about it, Boss Jiang” he instructed before he turned and headed off.  Jiang Yuelou watched him walk away before he huffed and turned, heading back inside the room, where Keying was still sobbing over Chen Yuzhi’s body.  He smiled sadly as he walked over to her and placed a gentle hand on the back of her neck, rubbing his thumb over her nape.

“Come here, sweetheart” he murmured, gently pulling Keying away from Chen Yuzhi and towards him.  Keying immediately turned and buried her face in his chest, sobbing softly as he wrapped his arms around her.

“This is my fault.  This is my fault” she sobbed.  Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened and he shook his head as he pulled away from the hug, looking down at her.

“A-Ying, this isn’t your fault.  This isn’t your fault, sweetheart” he assured.  Keying shook her head.

“If…If I hadn’t run, then m-maybe he, he wouldn’t have—” she started when Jiang Yuelou knelt before her and gently cupped her face in his hands.

“Keying.  Keying, look at me” he gently urged.  Keying sniffled and looked at him as he shook his head.

“Yuzhi would rather risk his own life then see you get hurt.  You mean so much to him, sweetheart.  You’re his world.  He knew the consequences of letting you escape and he took that risk so that you could be safe.  Do you understand?  Do not blame yourself for what happened.  It’s not your fault.  It was those men’s fault for kidnapping you and your brother, not yours.  Okay?” he murmured.  Keying whimpered, causing Jiang Yuelou to sigh before he quickly bundled her into his arms, holding her tightly as he walked over to one of the chairs that were in room, sitting down as he held Keying in his arms.  Keying curled against him, clutching at his shirt as she rested her head on his chest while he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her hair.

“Get some rest, baby.  I’m sure your brother will wake up soon” he murmured.  Keying nodded and made herself comfortable in Jiang Yuelou’s arms as Jiang Yuelou looked over at Chen Yuzhi’s sleeping form.

‘Wake up soon, Yuzhi.  Please.  For both of us’ he pleaded.

When Chen Yuzhi finally awoke the next morning, he blinked blearily, trying to rid the sleep and unconsciousness from his eyes.  He then looked around, frowning in confusion.

‘Where am I?’ he wondered to himself before he sniffed the air, which smell a lot like disinfectant, causing him to blink in surprise.

‘The hospital?’ he wondered, just as he heard a sound coming from his right.  He turned his head, eyes widening in surprise when he saw Jiang Yuelou sitting in the uncomfortable hospital chair, arms protectively wrapped around Keying, who was fast asleep in his lap.

“Jiang Yuelou?” he croaked.  Jiang Yuelou’s head snapped up at his name and when he saw Chen Yuzhi staring at him, his eyes widened before he gently shook Keying’s shoulder.

“Sweetheart.  Sweetheart, your brother’s awake” he murmured.  At those words, Keying, who let out a grumble at being woken up, was awake immediately and peeling herself out of Jiang Yuelou’s embrace as she rushed over to Chen Yuzhi’s side.

“Gege!  Gege, you’re awake!” she exclaimed, tears in her eyes.  Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly as he reached up and cupped her face, Keying immediately leaning into it.

“You’re okay” he whispered.  Keying looked at him and nodded, smiling wetly.

“When I was running away, I bumped into someone, who turned out to be gege” she explained.  Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened and he looked at Jiang Yuelou, who just smiled softly and nodded.  Chen Yuzhi then let out a choked sob, tears slipping out of the corner of his eyes as he carefully pulled Keying in for a hug, Keying melting into it.

“Careful, careful” Jiang Yuelou murmured as he walked over to the two siblings, smiling fondly as he looked down at them.  He then looked over at Chen Yuzhi and smiled a little wider as he reached out and wiped the tears from his eyes, making Chen Yuzhi look over at him.

“I’m glad you’re okay” he whispered before he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to Chen Yuzhi’s forehead.  Chen Yuzhi shut his eyes and let the soft feeling of Jiang Yuelou’s lips wash over him before he looked up at the mob boss as he pulled away.

“Jiang Yuelou” he whispered, making Jiang Yuelou raise an eyebrow.

“Mm?” he replied.  Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly but his eyes were fond and full of love.

“I love you” he confessed.  Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he laughed softly and reached out, gently cupping his face in his hand.

“I love you too” he replied as he leaned down and gently captured Chen Yuzhi’s lips with his.  Both men smiled into the kiss, they could each feel the turn up of the other’s lips, and when they pulled away, they looked at each other with fondness before Jiang Yuelou leaned down and rested his forehead’s against Chen Yuzhi’s.

“I thought I lost you” he whispered.  Chen Yuzhi shook his head as he gently pet Keying’s back (the little girl was so exhausted from all the crying and stress that the minute she was in her brother’s arms, she fell back asleep).

“You couldn’t lose me” he replied.  Jiang Yuelou chuckled softly before he kissed Chen Yuzhi’s forehead, reaching up to gently stroke his cheek.

“Get some rest, my love.  I’ll be here” he promised as he pulled away.  Chen Yuzhi nodded, eyes slowly slipping shut as sleep took him.  Once he was sure that he was asleep, Jiang Yuelou stroked Chen Yuzhi’s cheek again before he walked back over to his seat and sat down, placing his head in his hands.  He then took a deep breath before he let out a sob, finally releasing all of the emotions he had been bottling up during this ordeal.  He had kept his emotions at bay for Keying, to make sure that he had this façade of strength, but now, now that both siblings were safe, Jiang Yuelou could finally drop the mask and just cry

A few months later, after Chen Yuzhi had recovered nicely from his wounds, Chen Yuzhi was sitting in his clinic, working on some paperwork, when a tall man with light skin, brown eyes, and short black hair dressed in a black police uniform overlaid with a black trench coat stepped into the clinic.

“Yuzhi” the man called out, making Chen Yuzhi look up and blink.

“Can I help—” he started when his eyes widened and his mouth fell open in shock.

“Jiang Yuelou?  Is that you?” he breathed as he stood to his feet and walked around his desk over to the man in the uniform.  Jiang Yuelou smiled.

“It’s me, love” he replied.  Chen Yuzhi shook his head.

“You’re a cop now?” he asked, confusion on his face.  Jiang Yuelou chuckled.

“Jin Dacheng asked me to join the police force as repayment for helping me rescue you” he explained.  Chen Yuzhi frowned.

“So you’re no longer a mob boss then?” he asked.  Jiang Yuelou chuckled darkly as he stepped forward and wrapped an arm around Chen Yuzhi, pulling him close.  Chen Yuzhi let out a gasp before he looked at Jiang Yuelou, who just smirked.

“I’m still the same devilish man that you fell in love with, just now with a police badge and a uniform” he purred.  Chen Yuzhi blinked before he laughed softly.

“So I should be calling you “Chief Jiang” instead of “Boss Jiang” then?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.  Jiang Yuelou smiled before he leaned in and pressed a kiss to Chen Yuzhi’s lips before pulling away.

“You can call me whatever you like, my love” he replied.  Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he leaned in, his mouth close to his ear.

“Then can I call you mine?” he whispered.  Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened as he looked at Chen Yuzhi in shock before he laughed and shook his head.

“Oh little one, I’ve always been yours.  Since day one” he replied as he reached up and gently cupped Chen Yuzhi’s face, looking into his eyes.

“And you’ve always been mine” he declared.  Chen Yuzhi smiled and hummed, nodding in agreement.

“Always been yours” he whispered.  Jiang Yuelou smiled as he leaned in.

“Always been mine” he whispered before he captured Chen Yuzhi’s lips with his, Chen Yuzhi smiling into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around Jiang Yuelou’s neck while Jiang Yuelou wrapped his arms around Chen Yuzhi’s waist, pulling him impossibly closer.  They kissed each other hungrily, Chen Yuzhi letting out soft moans that Jiang Yuelou swallowed effortlessly before Chen Yuzhi pulled away, suddenly feeling lightheaded.  He then looked at Jiang Yuelou, who was looking at him fondly, and smiled, his eyes crinkling up into half-moons.  Jiang Yuelou smiled as well before he leaned forward, resting their foreheads together as they breathed in each other, soft smiles on both of their faces.  Jiang Yuelou was Chen Yuzhi’s and Chen Yuzhi was Jiang Yuelou’s.  The mob boss-turned-police officer belonged to the doctor and the doctor belonged to the mob boss-turned-police officer.  They belonged to each other and god help the fool who ever tried to ever separate them again because, for each other, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi would tear the world apart until they were together once more, safe in each other’s arms.
